Yay, congratulations pinkie and dglb!

binkybunny · 03/11/2014 08:33

Congratulations dglb and pinkie! Hope all's progressing well for you lazer

Lily31 · 03/11/2014 10:13

New babies! Congratulations Pinkie and DGLB, thanks for letting us know your news.

Thinking of you Lazer, hope things are ok?

I had a terrible night, no sleep and lots of anxiety. Time for a long walk to get my head straight. Need to get some positive energy going.

STIGZ · 03/11/2014 13:38

Woo-hoo!! More new arrivals... Congratz to you all Flowers

Lulu298 · 03/11/2014 14:34

Sorry to hear about your bad night lily - hope your walk helped.

Nothing happening here. Hope lazer is ok.

Kirstipops · 03/11/2014 18:31

How are you feeling now Lily?

Lulu298 · 03/11/2014 19:08

So the midwife advised me to do lots of walking to help bring on labour but within half an hour (or less), I need the loo! Do you think walking round a shopping centre for the day would count?! Or do I need hills etc?! Just thinking I would be close to toilets in a shopping centre!

Pregnantagain7 · 03/11/2014 19:59

Just thought I'd pop my head back on, congrats to dglb and pinkie

laser when I arrived at hospital to be induced with my dd2 I sobbed for 20 mins in the car park is just could not get out of the car! Dp had to coax me out and that was with a planned induction so I think in your circumstances you are entitled to a good cry :)

lulu my midwife said she always sends her ladies to the trafford centre to walk round the shops says it always works!

Lily31 · 03/11/2014 20:05

Thanks Kirsti and LuLu for asking. I'm feeling better tonight, I'm trying to think of induction in a positive way - as the way to meet baby. Had a bit of a walk around the park in the rain, saw a lovely rainbow which I found uplifting. I get serious cramps from walking now, but I figure that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I was thinking about trying acupuncture... Not sure if it works, but I'm willing to try.

LuLu - I reckon any type of walking is good. I do laps around the park as they have toilets when needed. I'm finding walking a good distraction too.

I hope Lazer is doing ok? Thinking of you Lazer.

Lulu298 · 03/11/2014 20:20

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better lily. Serious cramps sound good!

Right, shopping centre it is tomorrow and then park (where there are toilets) on Thursday!

There is a silver lining to being induced this weekend and baby not coming earlier for us - OH will be at home for three straight weeks (2 weeks paternity followed by a week of annual leave which was booked ages ago) so am keeping that in the back of my mind to draw on if needed to think of the induction in a positive light.

FatFlashingLazer · 03/11/2014 21:23

Hi guys. I'm doing ok so far. They started the induction process at midnight last night. Have been monitored every six hours and all is ok. BP has still been high and protein in urine is still there but not too bad. They have started me on some BP meds anyway which has brought it down a bit.

My waters went just as my mum was leaving at about 7ish. Contractions have been a bit stronger but nothing too bad. I have had a nice hot bath and just put the TENS on on the lowest level on advice from the midwife and DH and I are now watching a film in the induction ward which I have to my self.

Lily after my extreme emotions yesterday I am feeling much better about things today. I was starting to get a bit panicky again at the thought of having my waters broken...not sure why, but since they've gone I feel calmer and more positive about the whole thing. It helps that the midwives have been really great so far too. So, I know it feels really rubbish at the moment but hopefully once the process gets going you will start to feel better about it. I hope you are ok!!

Lulu I hope the walking helps and things get moving soon!

They are going to do a speculum exam at 12 and see what my cervix is like, then make a decision on what to do next. I'll keep you guys as updated as I can if and when anything changes.

Sending positive labour vibes and thank you for the good wishes

Lily31 · 03/11/2014 22:58

Thanks for the update Lazer. Sounds like things are going in the right direction and watching a DVD with your OH sounds like a plan.

Hope the tens is making a difference too. I bought one at the last minute...

All the best for the night ahead. Sounds like you're being well looked after.

Kirstipops · 04/11/2014 04:02

Sounds like a good experience so far Lazer, keep up the good work Grin

Lulu298 · 04/11/2014 07:49

Sounds very positive so far lazer and that they're taking good care of you.

Had a really bad night. Baby was doing so much movement when we turned the lights out, I had to go to the loo three times within the first three quarters of an hour! And then it continued in that vein for the whole night with some achy hips and knees thrown in for good measure. Sigh.

Lily31 · 04/11/2014 09:35

Morning ladies. Thanks for keeping us company Kirsti Smile

LuLu - these last few days are properly uncomfortable! Maybe a nap is called for this afternoon? Is it a day at the shops for you?

I'm heading to bumps and babies, where it's all babies and then me and my bump... It's a nice group though.

Lulu298 · 04/11/2014 10:36

Ah enjoy bumps and babies lily. Think I might go to one of those on Friday morning.

Think it's park instead today as it's sunny here - let's hope it stays that way! How many hours do you think I should do?!

MundayCakes85 · 04/11/2014 14:31

Afternoon all- how's everyone coping? When I got induced I did laps up and down the stairs and dancing to Strictly trying to kick things off. I feel your pain.
Not long until you'll be over in postnatal with the rest of the sleep deprived gang Grin

Lulu298 · 04/11/2014 21:15

Hi mundaycakes, yeah ok thanks. Still wondering and waiting. A two hour walk in the park has resulted in stiff hips so not sure if it's actually done any good.

Got a midwife appointment tomorrow so will hopefully learn how ready my cervix is or more likely not and possibly have a sweep.

FatFlashingLazer · 05/11/2014 04:00

Hi guys. Just popping on to say baby F arrived yesterday at 11:40am weighing 7lb8oz

I managed to avoid the syntocinon drip, just had the 24 hour pessary and one set of gels before everything kicked off. Delivered with gas and air and did first stage with TENS, paracetamol and some tramadol. Despite asking for an epidural on a number of occasions when it got a bit much I did it without which was what I was hoping for so I'm feeling good about that. I have a second degree tear and bruising but overall feeling great. In the end most of the things I was worried about with the induction didn't happen and it's been a tiring but positive experience all round.

Lily the TENS was so worth it! So glad I got it in the end. I wouldn't have coped through Monday nights early labour without it to be honest.

lulu and lily massive good luck when it does kick off for you! It is definitely worth the worry and the wait!

CellyD · 05/11/2014 04:11

Congratulations Flashing on the arrival of your baby. I'm glad you had a positive induction experience in the end.

Lulu and Lily - good luck. Night feeds will be coming your way soon too!

Lulu298 · 05/11/2014 07:22

Ah fantastic news lazer! So pleased for you. Grin hope you're all doing well.

binkybunny · 05/11/2014 08:49

Congratulations lazer glad it was an overall good experience

Lily31 · 05/11/2014 17:26

Congratulations Lazer! Enjoy your newborn cuddles. Your experience is very reassuring and uplifting. I am becoming more and more resigned to an induction, so hearing from you has helped ease my worries.

How you doing LuLu? 2 hrs is a lot of walking at this stage! Hope you're not in too much pain?

My midwife wasn't able to perform a sweep again today - so I'm nowhere near labour! Eh well, what will be will be.

Thanks for popping in Munday and celly. It's nice to have support Smile

Lulu298 · 05/11/2014 19:28

I'm doing all right lily - thanks for asking. Hip pain wore off pretty quickly so no long term damage!

I saw my midwife today. She was really nice and encouraging and said there was still plenty of time before Saturday to go into labour and that I shouldn't worry about not having any signs like a show because everyone was different. She recommended watching lots of comedy shows to get the oxytocin going, as well as sex. We did a sweep so who knows, maybe it will help?

It reminded me of this PDF www.uhbristol.nhs.uk/media/1629724/latentphaseoflabourideastohelpyou-2_1_.pdf - am hoping we both experience a proper latent phase that lasts closer to 4 hrs (see page 5) so we go into active labour before Sat!

Fingers crossed for both of us!

Lily31 · 05/11/2014 20:12

That's a good leaflet, thanks for the link. DP and I have had our own little firework party and a nice roast dinner. Feeling more positive, we do still have time... Smile
