Lily I've got first sweep booked tomorrow too! They won't do them here until you're 10 days over and will probably want to book induction for Tuesday incase the sweep doesn't work. I'd rather try another sweep and maybe be induced Thursday when I'll be 2 weeks over instead. Not sure what the response will be.

Lily31 · 01/11/2014 21:54

I'll let you know LuLu, the midwife is coming to our house, hoping I'll feel more relaxed here.

Good luck with your sweep too Lazer! Also, it's entirely up to you when or even whether you're induced.

Are either of you getting any signs or niggles? All I have is the mildest period cramping on and off and occassional BH...

FatFlashingLazer · 01/11/2014 22:08

Lily I've had lots of cramps, back pains etc but it's been on and off like that for about 2 weeks. It's been quite painful at times and last night I thought something might be actually happening as it was more painful than before and in waves but nothing has happened today.

I'm worried I'm not going to be assertive enough with the midwife about the induction thing and that I'll just end up agreeing to it. Need to man up about it before the morning because I'm not comfortable agreeing after only one sweep and before 2 weeks overdue at all.

Fingers crossed for good things for us tomorrow!!

Lulu298 · 02/11/2014 09:09

Woke up at about 4am with period like pain in my back and wondered whether it was starting. Went to the loo, came back and tried going back to sleep and I did so obviously nothing! This is the first significant thing I've had since last Sat so that feels slightly more positive!

Lily31 · 02/11/2014 10:14

You're both getting good signs. Good luck with the sweep today Lazer, kind of reassured that somebody else will be having the same thing...

Need to get out for a good stroll again later.

CellyD · 02/11/2014 10:25

Lulu, Lily and Lazer, you're in the home straight. Fingers crossed you'll be meeting your little ones soon.

FatFlashingLazer · 02/11/2014 14:42

Hi guys. Just a quick update. Sweep didn't exactly go to plan. Had fresh blood after it and my BP was raised. Also had some protein in my urine. Had to come up to be monitored and see the doctor. They have decided to keep me in now so they can monitor by BP and potentially give meds to bring it down. Likelihood is I will be induced in the morning. All a bit unexpected and I have been really emotional and crying...and feeling very ridiculous for it!

I'm on the labour ward now in a 4 bed room but there's only me and one other lady and I have a window bed so it's ok.

They've brought me a sandwich and cup of tea already and DH has just gone to call our parents then he is going to get the bags.

Waiting for midwife to come and see me to check me in and explain things to me a bit more. Baby was quite happy on the monitors and that's the most important thing.

Good luck Lulu and Lily...hope you're both ok today.

binkybunny · 02/11/2014 15:33

Good luck laser just think, you'll be meeting your lo in the next day or so!
Window beds definitely make a difference, dh insisted I was moved to one after my first night in hospital as the corridor beds are soooo noisy.

Hope all goes ok Smile

Lulu298 · 02/11/2014 19:18

Ah big hugs lazer. Don't feel ridiculous - I think anyone would feel that way. Your baby and you being safe and healthy is the most important thing - hope the midwife explained things to you.

Sending you positive thoughts/vibes - will be checking in to see any updates. Take care.

Lily31 · 02/11/2014 21:21

Oh Lazer, that must have been a bit of a shock. I think the tears and how you feel are more than understandable. I hope you can get some rest tonight. Sending you positive vibes for tomorrow. It sounds like you're in good hands and I'm glad baby is ok.

My sweep was a non starter. Cervix was closed and baby's head is still relatively high... I cried at the midwife as the likelihood of induction sunk in. Clearly I had less reason to be tearful, I think it's just an emotional and hormonal time.

Just think, you'll be cuddling your little bundle very soon.

FatFlashingLazer · 02/11/2014 21:35

It is just such an emotional thing. Especially when you realise thobkS might not go to the original plan.

They are now talking about starting induction tonight. Just waiting for doctor to come back with results of urine sample as they wanted to do a more detailed check for protein. They seem to think there's not much point putting it off until the morning, which now I'm here I kind of agree.

I'll update when I can and hope things get going for you both soon.

FatFlashingLazer · 02/11/2014 21:36

*things...the excitement has obviously got to me and I can't type! Confused

Lily31 · 02/11/2014 21:56

Sounds like a good option Lazer - wowee, not long now eh? I'll be checking in for any updates, sending good vibes for the night ahead.

Lulu298 · 02/11/2014 22:22

Hope it goes well lazer. I think a few people in this club said they had positive induction experiences so hope it's the same for you. Hope to hear from you soon.

DGLB · 02/11/2014 23:22

Just a quick message from me baby girl born last night 12 days overdue after being induced we're home now and both doing well Smile

Good luck to everyone still waiting

weeonion · 02/11/2014 23:26

Lazer - hope it goes ok. Will be checking in to see how you are getting on. Fingers crossed. X

weeonion · 02/11/2014 23:27

Kirstipops · 02/11/2014 23:33

Congrats DGLB!!

FlipFantasia · 02/11/2014 23:45

Congrats DLGB! Great news!

Good luck Lazer! It's an emotional time, but in a short while baby will be here and you'll be enjoying newborn snuggles.

Pinkie2103 · 03/11/2014 01:45

Hello! Sorry for not updating sooner but DS2 arrived at 10.15pm on Thursday via emergency cs. Said goodbye to my home VBAC while lying in the back of an ambulance transferring in due to high blood pressure and possible infection ( both ruled out on arrival) but had a really positive labour with an amazing midwife and Doula. Had a gentle section so we had dimmed lights as we saw our son being lifted out, had delayed cord clamping, skin on skin and first feed while being stitched up which was great.

Was back home on Saturday night and we're sll doing pretty well. Poor little man still doesn't have a name yet though

Good luck to those waiting and congrats to all you new mummy's

CellyD · 03/11/2014 02:18

Congratulations DLGB and Pinkie! Lazer I had a positive induction experience with DD1, so sending you positive vibes.

FlipFantasia · 03/11/2014 02:43

Congrats Pinkie! It sounds like a beautiful birth and I hope you're enjoying your brand new boy. Hope name inspiration strikes soon!
