FatFlashingLazer · 18/10/2014 12:00

Aaah, seriously don't worry about it. I'm just jealous. I'm lurking on the post natal thread already....figured I may as well get a taste of what's to come.

Pregnantagain7 · 18/10/2014 13:15

Ha ha ha stigz that did make me chuckle!! Of all the places to post it Grin

Missus2ndwife · 18/10/2014 14:40

This is going to be a long, slow process... After being up for most of the night with regular contractions, everything has ground to a halt!!
I was feeling so excited and now I probably have another two days of this. Feel very sorry for myself when the reality is two days is nothing when I've waited 9 months!!

Saying that had quite a lovely night on my ball listening to music.

I can thoroughly recommend massaging a few drops of clary sage with some oil on your belly to help the process. Even the lovely MW gave me a smiley nod when I told her.

So, what is everyone else up to today?? Binky?? Puss??

xx

CellyD · 18/10/2014 15:02

Good binky and puss. Missus that's frustrating that things have tailed off. Hopefully things will get started for you again.

Fingers crossed for everyone else awaiting signs and little ones. Xx

binkybunny · 18/10/2014 15:28

Been into mlu, contracting 3 mins apart but was only 1cm dilated. Back home trying to nap when I can between contractions.

pusscous · 18/10/2014 16:00

Oh binky that's not great news, did they give you any idea how to tell if if already 3 min apart? Hope things improve, feeling like this is not a good stage to get stuck at.

Missus hope your inductive picks up speed.

Well it's 7:45 am here, massive time difference to home. Dh husband carted me off to bed at midnight taking away the tens machine Shock did sleep until 4 ok ish. Then very broken sleep with bad dreams and contractions. Laying on side, paracetamol and visualising my favourite beach seem to help. Need to get more sleep as eyes so tired, but dh snoring and stolen my covers. No idea on time scales any more. But feels like waves of period pain

binkybunny · 18/10/2014 16:10

Apparently they need to be stronger, I'm obv just a wimp as I thought they were already strong!

STIGZ · 18/10/2014 17:34

Good luck binky&pusscous xx

Lily31 · 18/10/2014 18:00

Sending progressive contraction vibes to binky, pusscous and missus. Hope that's everyone... You're all doing grand as my granny would say.

Still at the back of the queue here at 38 +5.

With you on the acid at night. I keep getting stomach pains after eating which then keep me awake. Ugh... And gas bingo

Managed a decent swim today. A lovely lady asked me if I wanted her to help me put my shoes on in the changing room. I politely declined, then huffed about like a hippo until saying, 'actually, if you wouldn't mind...'

FatFlashingLazer · 18/10/2014 18:19

Pusscous, Binky and Missus, I hope things start to progress a bit more for you all.

I've had a nice day with friends visiting which has taken my mind off the waiting and aches and pains.

Quick question, does everyone have a tens machine? I haven't got or hired one but now am wondering if I should have.

Shirehobbit · 18/10/2014 18:24

I've a tens, lazer - I didn't find it that useful in terms of pain relief last time, but it was good to have something to do during contractions, iyswim.

Lily31 · 18/10/2014 18:26

lazer, I was in exactly the same quandary this week.

I've heard so many positives about tens that I decided I should get one. Bought the boots maternity one which as the usual boost function. I figured that the difference in buying it vs hiring one was fractional.

Not tried it yet as I've literally had nothing. No cramping, no tightening etc...

Might try it tomorrow just to check it works.

FatFlashingLazer · 18/10/2014 18:33

Hmm, maybe I'll get one. My mums coming to visit tomorrow to come on the tour of the MLU with me as DH is on nights so will be sleeping and can't come. Maybe we will pop to boots or something and have a look. I suppose it's better to have it than not and be missing out on something helpful...

Lily31 · 18/10/2014 18:51

Have a look at the reviews, I think some of the hired tens machines might be more popular. I just went for convenience and bought mine online.

I thought the same in terms of having options. Baby is back to back which means I could have a long and more painful labour. I'm thinking I want everything I possibly can use to get me through. Films, gym ball, baths, tens, hypnobirthing technique, chill out album playing etc..

DH was supposed to learn some of the key messages from the hypnobirthing cd to repeat to me.

He hasn't quite mastered them and 'breathe in the golden light' has become 'feel the sunshine coming through your fanny'. I figure that his positive reinforcement will keep me amused if nothing more.

pusscous · 18/10/2014 19:06

Haha lily that made me laugh.

Tens machine very useful so far. Dh bought on line not a maternity one so no boost function which he had only just told me about but still good for bachelor ache and cramps. Getting more rest in between. Dh is currently hoping the two spare batteries are enough looking scared at the prospect of the machine not working.

FatFlashingLazer · 18/10/2014 19:49

Haha...Lily that's brilliant. I tried to get DH involved when I was reading Juju Sundins birth skills book but he gave up and most definitely wasn't as comical as your DH, who at least is trying!

I think I'll look at getting a tens then. Currently manically bouncing on my gym ball hoping it does something!

ohthegoats · 18/10/2014 20:08

Tens was ace. Worked as pain relief in early stages then good distraction later. The boost button is the important bit in my opinion.

Lulu298 · 18/10/2014 20:27

'Feel the sunshine coming through your fanny' - that made me lol Grin lily.

My friend has given me her TENS machine. She said it really helped so am going to give it a go.

kittyvet · 19/10/2014 07:22

Looks like I am in for a long latent stage. Been having contractions every 1/2 hr since 4pm yesterday but no increase in strength or frequency. Managed to sleep between them mostly but prospect of doing this for another 24-48hrs daunting! I hired a tens machine from online place for £20. Haven't put it on yet been managing with juju birth skills so far.

BingoBango85 · 19/10/2014 09:37

Period pain terrible last night so presumed stuff would get going last night. No luck. Feeling fobbed off by my body. At least 4 nights of bad pain & bog all else.

ohthegoats · 19/10/2014 10:11

I was told to think of the things the contractions have to do. So each one is doing something even if it feels like nothing obvious. Bringing forward a cervix, thinning a cervix etc. I went in to hospital after 12 hours of hardcore every 5 minute contractions to find I was 3cm dilated - the same as I had been 3 days earlier. Got cross so got given a list of things contractions do.

Hang in there, it's shit but it's worth it.

pusscous · 19/10/2014 12:14

Oh kittyvet that's crap, says the person who's been there since early Thursday morning now early Sunday morning. Friday and Saturday afternoon things tailed of but pick up again in evening. Actually thing starting to get closer together now so maybe this is it.

Good luck to all labouring latent or active. Binky hope things have progressed for you and you are now in hospital.

Tens has been my saviour so far, can be crippled with pain without.

kittyvet · 19/10/2014 13:48

Humph! Decided to get my tens out only to find they have sent the wrong leads and there are none to be had in my town!!! Looking like I am labouring without any Tens!

kittyvet · 19/10/2014 13:49

Gosh pusscous not sure how I am going to do another 24hrs let alone 72!
