We'll definitely find out, I want to buy things gender related rather than neutral. Each to their own IMO.

Lauren I had booking in around 9 weeks and scan will be 12 weeks exactly. (According to their dates anyway!)

Oh by the way everyone..I finally gave DP some action last night...and lo and behold..nothing tragic happened..I didn't suddenly start gushing blood..my uterus didn't fall out of my vagina etc. Dunno why I was so afraid Grin

Glad I'm not the only one Siarie, I'm 7+5 although I'm hoping at the next scan they will bump me back up those 4 days they put me back. The doctors referred me to the mw after my reassurance scan showed a viable pregnancy and that was over a week ago, how long does it take for you to end up on the system, I'm going under a consultant too so no idea if that's what's holding everything up. Bit scared I'll get forgotten about like I did with DD I fell through some admin crack and had a 2 second booking appointment at 8w which she stopped filling my notes in and said I'm referring you. Was 15w before I saw the consultant or got a scan. Got good scan pics though as that much further along.

I've always wanted to find out the gender as soon as possible. With my first pregnancy I was really worried about having a girl as I'm a bit of a tomboy. So I was very relieved to see a little willy at the 20-week scan. And you couldn't have missed it either, it was the first thing we saw on the screen when the sonography started the scan! So if we hadn't wanted to know we would have been disappointed. With DS2 I was disappointed because it seems so anti-climactic after weeks of wondering whether it was a boy or a girl. With DS3 I didn't have a preference either way but with having all boys I tend to assume another boy would be easier. I have mounds of baby clothes stashed away and cars, train sets, etc. galore so a fourth boy would certainly be cheaper. I hope I'll be able to find out at the 20-week scan as this time round I won't be able to afford a private gender scan. Anyway I'd better try and get through my 12-week scan first!

I have two girls and am hoping for another, partly to use clothes again (although I don't have any baby things anymore, only from about age 2 and up!) and partly because I wouldn't know what to do with a boy either!

I'm going to find out from the harmony scan I think, so we should know in about 4 weeks time!

HippoPottyMouth · 14/09/2014 13:02

Oh and I haven't had a booking in either yet, I have my docs appointment this week to 'confirm the pregnancy ' and then I will be referred to midwife. No too stressed about that as the harmony test package includes nuchal scan anyway so that is all booked in for 12 weeks anyway.

Hi ladies, I'm home from holidays as well. 2 weeks all inclusive and I've managed to not put on any weight which is a miracle considering my staple diet has been chips, bread and crisps with the occasional token apple.

Relieved to be home. Was dreading the trip because it was overnight travel and I don't travel well at the best of times, but it went okay. Home for 4.30am, awake at 8.30, Tesco shop delivered at 12, have had lunch and now back to bed.

Really not looking forward to work tomorrow Confused, but got my scan on Thursday, so at least catching up will pass the time.

Also debating whether to try the Doppler this afternoon. Not sure how I'd feel if I couldn't find anything so thinking better not to...

Ooh the magic 12 weeks River! well done.

I'm 11 weeks today. By 12+2 I should have had scan and harmony results so should hopefully be able to start telling more people... assuming all looks ok. Can't wait.

When is morning sickness and exhaustion supposed to wear off? I think it was about 13 weeks last time (and spots improved at 16 weeks) but can't remember for sure.

We'll definitely be finding out gender - not because we care hugely but just because I like to have all the information I can. tbh in terms of my wish list, healthy, full term and good sleeper (after our experiences with DD) are way above gender!

Hey all, not posted for a while but been reading! Interesting to hear that so many people are finding out the gender. We didn't with the first and am pretty sure we won't with this one either. I have to have an ELCS and it was such an unforgettable moment when DP turned and told me we'd had a boy. It gave DP a special 'job'on the day too which I think was really good for him.

My nausea has settled down considerably now, which does worry me occasionally, but instead it's been replaced with indigestion and awful trapped wind. Still very tired too but mostly in the form of a serious afternoon slump which is tricky at work! I've also been getting really breathless - you know when you can't seem to quite breathe deeply enough and need to take a big deep breath? It's really bizarre!

I'm excited and nervous for my scan, a week Tuesday. I so hope everything is OK in there....

I don't have any numbers for any midwives, I went to my doctor and he filled out a form with me there. I saw which hospital was ticked at the top but I haven't heard anything since. That was almost four weeks ago now, but not sure how quick things happen with the booking appointment.

BrixtonBunny · 14/09/2014 15:39

We're going to find out the gender too, but unsure as to whether we'll tell other people or leave it as a surprise until the birth! We don't want any gendered clothing / gifts / accessories so we're thinking that might be best...

Hello April Mums-to-Be! Can I join? Been lurking for a while, keeping up with all your ups-and-downs, and wanting to say hi.
Had first scan last week which made it all a bit more real, so now seems like the moment: Hi! :0)

So I'm in Surrey, I'm 38, partner is 36. This will be our first, if all continues to go well - fingers crossed!
EDD April 7th 2015. Currently anxiously awaiting results of Harmony test (hence the scan).

Current favourite Weird Hormonal Pastimes include:

  • Loathing the smell of the freshly-cleaned toilets in our office (bleurgh!)
  • Getting all weepy while singing 'Matchstalk Cats and Dogs' to self in the shower.
  • Only getting about two miles into a six mile jog before feeling like my head is going to float away, and having to stop (And to the lady that mentioned it: +1 for stinky hormonal-urine btw, esp in the earlier weeks. Seems to be easing off now, thank goodness!)

Anyway, it's been immensely helpful reading of everyone's experience on here btw, esp when I've been feeling at my most tired and useless (which now seems to have nearly passed - hurray!!) So thankyou all!

Welcome Nunkie hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Rustyzilla · 14/09/2014 17:57

Welcome nunkie!

Jeewizz I have had breathlessness and what I'd call palpitations on and off since about week 5, it seems to have calmed down a bit now. Very odd! I found it worst when trying to go to sleep.

I FINALLY got my MW booking in appointment on Thurs, 10 weeks exactly. It's a home visit which I wasn't expecting and is next Sunday (11+3) scan is following Friday when I will be 12+1 at which they will also do nuchal testing and some bloods. I already had some bloods done and got the results over the phone (all good!) Apart from a couple of brief calls this is my first MW contact. I'm in Essex.

JaneyTea · 14/09/2014 18:03

Hello nunkie , welcome Smile

I have my booking in appointment tomorrow, (will be 7 + 6), hoping that it might make me feel a little less anxious. Suddenly remembered I'll need to take a sample so had to hunt around for a suitable container - a jam jar seems to be the best I can do! Blush Blush Confused

RiverRocks · 14/09/2014 18:15

Janey when I went the midwife gave me a special tub and directed me to the loo for 'a try'. I'm giggling to myself that you literally haven't got a pot to p**s in (apologies for lowering the tone of the thread)

JaneyTea · 14/09/2014 18:22

My letter says to bring one. DP suggested tuppawear Grin Blush I'm considering asking the mw if I can take a couple of spare pots for future appointments.....

cinnamongreyhound · 14/09/2014 18:32

Congratulations Nunkie.

I didn't need to take one, you get one with a red lid for the first one which I took when I had my bloods done. Then they give you a normal white lid one at booking apt that you reuse through your whole pregnancy in these parts!

I did it at the appointment too..in a cardboard kidney dish type thing. I was all proud that I could pee on demand now that I have to pee 50 times a day haha

LadyNovember · 14/09/2014 18:34

Bit late for you, but you can buy sample pots at the pharmacy pretty cheap ;)
