Not that I profess to have a brain of any sorts but here is a new thread as requested!!

I been looking at gentle birth/hypnotherapy... it looks very interesting!!!! Know what you mean about the cost though - the course for hypo is about £400...

On a completely different random note... I am in love with m&s fruit trifle!!! Its a veritable taste sensation... I COULD EAT 8!!!

weeonion · 25/09/2006 16:19

hey smole - looks like we have our nuchal the same day - mine is at 10.30am! Liath has her scan later that day as well!

Geordiemacminx - i have been looking at the hypnobirthing and been in contact with a trained midwife in glasgow. couple training is £400 and attendane at group sessions is £240. we ave prvisionaly booked the group option!
i think teh getlebith method is something different tho... i have read soem stuff on it but not sure about giving up all sugar and wheat. loads of the stories are about easier births - maybe due to lower weight babies???

anythig that is gonna make labour easier - i will consider... perineal massage included..

geordiemacminx · 25/09/2006 16:41

Where is the group session held? Perhaps we could go together?

Nah bollox to giving up sugar and stuff at the moment I need all the energy I can get!!!

OP posts:
liath · 25/09/2006 16:43

I definitely draw the line at perineal massage ! I did NCT classes last time and I have to say they didn't do a lot to prepare for the realities of labour - I still chuckle when I remember the class teacher playing us a tape of waves crashing to simulate contractions......as if!!! It was all a bit unrealistic - she had this knitted placenta that she'd made herself to demonstrate stuf on . I made some good friends, though so it was worth it for that alone.

At least now I can say that my scan is next week, so it finally doesn't seem so far away.

CornflakeKid · 25/09/2006 17:37

I would like to know more about the gentle birth method too - let me know if you see any good resources - planning to go to yoga anyway so would be interested to see how it could all work together iyswim

Had a lovely sleep courtesy of parents and not long til bedtime!

weeonion · 25/09/2006 18:24

GMM - the classes are held in the west end - here is the link. www.happybirth.co.uk/
we gotta go with our partners - i can just see dp at them!? it would be a great idea to chum each other - more support the better

CFK - i know there are other threads on mumsnet where gentlebirthing is discused - i am not sure where they are now. any other info i find - i will let you know!

CaptainDippy · 25/09/2006 18:40

Not all NCT classes are that bad Laith!!!!

Oooooh, lots of exciting scans coming up!

This is my 3rd time and I am planning on having a homebirth - not really into "Gentle Birth Method" / hypnobirthing stuff - as I figure I've got through it twice without, so I must have been doing something right!!!!? Gas and Air is the bestest best thing ever invented though - I'm making sure my midwife brings at least 20 cannisters!!!!!!! In fact, I might have it pumped around my house on a permenant basis - might make parenting 3 under 3.5 easier!!!!!!!?????

Oooooh, 1st time I've used that new emoticion - fab!!

Who mentioned M&S trifle - gotta get me one - Like now!!!!!! >

Gotta go - DH calls .......

EllieK · 25/09/2006 19:10

haven't had time to catch up on all news yet, there's so much to read!
just wondered if anyone had any news from Buckfyans? done a search and nothing from her since 9th september, getting worried x
had scan on friday, was 11+4 so 12 weeks today!!!!
ds on holiday with his dad for 7 days so feeling a bit lost
have to go watch celebrity mastermind now but hope to stay awake long enough to catch up later x

12 weeks!!!!

EllieK · 25/09/2006 19:11

sorry, meant celebrity masterchef!
loving looking at all that food that would make me sick if i even tried to cook it!

EllieK · 25/09/2006 19:12

oh, and due date now 9th april, was 14th before but realised i gave doc wrong dates so 9th fits with my calculations anyway

CornflakeKid · 25/09/2006 19:20

Congrats EllieK! I wish someone would move my dates forward!

Think 11+2 now - but have said 3 months to people as so much easier - if you say 11 weeks - it's all 'oooh still at that dangerous stage' and 'isn't it a bit early' fgs! if you say 3 months - its all congrats and well done - tbh for the sake of 4 days - it's much easier option and you feel so much happier and so much more positive.

Mad ramble over!

CornflakeKid · 25/09/2006 19:22

and had a spooky let down feeling earlier - that kind of boob feeling you have when baby is born and your baby cries or about to feed - very weird! They're sore sometimes anyway - but this was so freaky!

doobydoo · 25/09/2006 19:54

Congrats on scan EllieK.
Liath i nearly fell off my chair laughing..Knitted placentaI have laughed so much i have made myself retch.
I am 12 weeks on Wed by my calculations.
My nnearest marks and spencer is an hour away..but i reckon i could eat lots of their stuffand it prob wouldn't be too awful bringing it back up again.

CaptainDippy · 25/09/2006 21:54

Online shopping, doobydoo, online shopping!! I'm putting my order in for 100 trifles right now!!

doobydoo · 25/09/2006 22:03

If they don't deliver to where i live.I will sue
Not sure if they do deliver to this part of ireland.
BUT...my ms is worse in the afternoon and evening so maybe i could go with dp on saturday to Cork and get stuff.I think that is a damn fine idea.

bluepuffin · 25/09/2006 22:28

hello everyone, just joined... I'm 9+3, I think - no scan yet (that's nine weeks and three days right?). Apart from appalling mood swings (altho' come to think of it,forget mood swings, they're all pretty black), exploding breasts and knackeredness the worst thing is waking up twice every night to go to the loo, and then not being able to get back to sleep for hours. How much or what i drink seems to have no effect, my bladder just seems to have shrunk to the size of a pea. Anyone found any herbal remedies it's ok to take to help me stay asleep? Now I can't tell if i feel shit bec i haven't slept or if it's because i'm pg... Maybe both? hey ho... and yes, it's my first, in case you haven't guessed.

CornflakeKid · 26/09/2006 08:08

Welcome Bluepuffin - I think that sickness is much worse when you're tired - I've had 3 bad nights sleep now and was sick 4 times within 15 mins of getting up - nice!

I have two M&S nearby but have a supermarket phobia at the moment - just the thought of food shopping makes me heave! But trifle does sound very yummy - had eton mess for pudding yesterday lunchtime - very yummy! (think am allowed meringue - the egg is cooked isn't it?!)

And if soft cheese is pasteurised is it okay?

Its a beautiful sunny day outside so must think of something to do with ds2! Maybe go swimming and for a nice walk.

Have a nice day folks and congrats on 12 weekers - still green with envy!

liath · 26/09/2006 08:21

Hi & welcome to Bluepuffin. I'm sure there was a thread on pregnancy insomnia fairly recently. My younger sister has had it quite badly in both her pregnancies. Maybe some lavender oil on a pillow might help??

Well, dd was up at 5.40 this morning so I think I am going to have to sedate her when the baby's born. I am starting to fret a bit about the whole coping with two thing - eek!

Sunny here to so it'll be off to the park with dd to wear her out a bit so she has a decent nap later. She didn't sleep at all yesterday & I'm sure that if she sleeps better during the day it makes her sleep longer at night.

geordiemacminx · 26/09/2006 09:14

Morning all!!!

Liath... meringue (sp) and soft cheese like philadelphia are fine... its unpasturised cheese like brie and stuff that arent.. although I think if they are cooked then they are ok but not 100%.

Hey M&S dont do food delivery.. well only party food... gutted!!!

Hope everyone is well.. I'm ok, now I have my hot water and lemon!!! How good am I??? And even better than that I got my " you really are blooming" comment this morning... although this could be a polite way of saying fat `

Morning everyone.

Welcome Bluepuffin

Really feel for those of you still suffering with ms. Mine seems to have gone now. Still feeling quite tired although I can feel that starting to lift also...don't tell dh I'm making the most of it!!

I've got my nuchal scan today at 11am. My dh asked me yesterday if I was excited. Well I am but also worried about the usual things. Will there be anything there or will there be something wrong? I don't remember being worried with ds.

Dh said he is excited about the scan which is nice, because although I know he's ok with another baby he doesn't say a lot emotions wise.

Hope you all have a good day. I'm 12+2 today

Bramshott · 26/09/2006 10:32

Morning all. I haven't posted on this new thread yet, so thought I'd drop in to say hi. All the same here really - 12 week scan on Thurs (seems to be the day for it!); morning (or rather mainly evening in my case) sickness gradually improving with some days better than others; finally starting to feel (and look!) properly pregnant and happy about it; not feeling like working at all etc etc! Have to work tonight which is a bummer, and I just know it's unlikely I'll get through the whole evening without throwing up!

We told DD about the baby properly at the weekend (although I think she knew anyway). She's pretty excited, although she had a fit of the giggles when I told her the baby would come out of a special hole in my bottom!!

12+2 weeks. Better go and do some work now.

bubblez · 26/09/2006 11:04

Morning all,

Welcome bluepuffin

Gordie is right CFK if the cheese is pasterised then it is fine to eat (according to MW anyway) bri, blue vained cheeses, unpasterised etc are not.

Hey EllieK snap on the dates we are antinatal cycle buddies!!! How you feeling and how was your scan?

Well found out that dp told MIL on thursday just gone and she wasn't pleased and was cussing...but I was told this after I sent her a picture message of the scan of her new grandchild. She didn't even respond to the message, I supose it just reafirmed her bitch status.

Bramshott · 26/09/2006 11:08

I've been wondering about this cooked cheese thing as my DH cooks a wonderful beef and stilton pie in the winter. Would that be okay as the sauce with the stilton in basically boils and then simmers for about an hour?!?

geordiemacminx · 26/09/2006 11:24

Think I heard something that its was ok as long as it has boiled as that kills all the bacteria.. not 100% though, and certainly dont quote me.... I got a big thumbs down yesterday when I asked if a little can of red bull would be ok...

Perhaps have a look at some old threads.. there bound to be something on there? HTH
