Not that I profess to have a brain of any sorts but here is a new thread as requested!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
emmymummy · 22/09/2006 17:30

Hello to you all, really long time no post as have been feeling so dreadful that even looking at the computer screen has made me want to yak. Has been truely horrific this time 'round and I've told dh that I am never, ever getting pregnant again.

Just wanted to ask all you ladies a question. I am due to be having a 'minor op' next week, that will involve having local anaesthetic to my face (no I'm not having Botox, although I could do with it, just having a horrid mole removed!). Does anyone know if having this sort of thing done whilst preg is OK (I'll be 10 weeks). Have mentionned it to the doctor and he says it's fine, but wondered if any of you wise ones knew better. Would you go ahead with it (it's something I've been waiting to have done for years)?

weeonion · 22/09/2006 17:49

any news from twinkle?

bubbaloo · 22/09/2006 18:41

Emmymummy-I would imagine if your doctor says it's ok then it should be,but why don't you try posting on the health section and see what other mumsnetters have to say.

Ange-I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't think of a girls name.We had Poppy as our favourite when I was pg with ds,but we've now gone off it,so it's just aswell we had a boy.

Dooby-17 weeks before seeing anyone does sound like a long while.I've had my booking in appointment(all of 5 mins!)and have a scan booked for 12 weeks, then was told I wouldn't see the midwife until I was 17 weeks.Perhaps they think you have your scan booked and like me,will be seeing the midwife at 17 weeks.Best to give them a ring,I think.

liath · 22/09/2006 19:28

I'd say it's fine, Emmy - local anaesthetic won't do any harm, but if you're not comfortable with it could you postpone until after baby's born?

Twinkle - hope the scan was OK.

Have a couple of potential names but girls are easier than boys I think. We've had one boy's name we've liked for years and can't think of any others! Better not be twin boys .

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm planning to sleep as much as possible and eat unsuitable food !

emmymummy · 22/09/2006 20:15

Thanks Liath & Bubbaloo. It is a really horrid mole (think Nanny McPhee and you get the idea), and I am very very keen for it to be gone! DD has just started school and I don't want her classmates thinking I'm a scarey witch or something!

Oh God, am just watching a program about size zero models/actresses - talk about making me feel even more fat & blobby than normal.... (love that emoticon).

CaptainDippy · 22/09/2006 22:35

Have been soooo hectic and rushed and busy - have had no time to post - now soooooo tired and neeeeeeed to go to bed!!

Hope people's scans have gone well and people's name choosing is going ok. DH and have never had a girl's name and we've had two girls so far!! Their names just sort of .... happened .... I suppose - quite strange. DD1 is Katherine, which is not an name we had ever thought of - it just sort of "happened" to pop into both our heads when she was born!!!!! DD2 is Sophia, though she was so very nearly Elisabeth - not sure where Sophia came from - suits her soooo much now though. This time we are fully prepared with boy's name and girl's name!!

Feeling yukky still.

weeonion · 23/09/2006 08:03

good morning to you all!

we have both names sorted now to a shortlist - we spent time looking through some books last weekend. have decided not to have anything that sounds remotely like either side of the family. goign for soem real irish scots hybrids....

have dp's family here. 2 of the gals have lost weight and look fab. i feel bloated, flabby and huge, cant even give my real excuse..

off to get a marquee sorted for a birthdy bash - i'm in charge of dressing teh venue. last thing i want to do at this hour on a saturday morning...

have a good day

twinkle183 · 23/09/2006 09:14

Hi guys sorry it has taken me so long to reply just been busy with family yesterday!!

Well - good news, Its fine, one heartbeat (Thank god there is only one in there) It was great to get reassurance that everything is okay!!!

Thanks for all you well wishes!

Take care.

sallycinnamon · 23/09/2006 09:19

Hello everyone. Haven't posted for a while but evrything seems to be going ok so far. Sickness seems to have stopped but I've totally gone off some foods. Its so annoying, I really look forward to a meal and then actually tuck into it and taste nothing. Don't remember this last time!

sallycinnamon · 23/09/2006 09:19

Glad to hear your scan went well twinkle!

Bugmum · 23/09/2006 10:27

Glad your scan went well, Twinkle.

My hair is falling out That's not meant to happen, is it? It's meant to be the other way round. Last time, my hair (always tending towards the big) got so I looked as though I could have sung C&W for a living... And oh man, I'm fat [attractive emoticon] Oh well.

CaptainDippy · 23/09/2006 11:30

Glad your scan went well Twinkle, can't wait for mine!

I am super super fat Bugmum - feeling like Blobzilla!! My hair's falling out too - don't worry, it is not just you - I had it for all my PG's, so not a surprise.

Gotta go ......

Bugmum · 23/09/2006 11:41

Thanks, Dippy! Was going to say glad it's not just me, but that sounds mean

bubblez · 23/09/2006 12:22

Afternoon all just a quick post before dp wakes up and wants some pancakes!!

With you on the hair falling out front CD and Bugmum... with dd my hair was full and lushiously thick and shiny, with this prgnancy it's falling out and limp and greasy. What with that and my bloated stomach I very 'attractive'...not!!

I have a lot of girls names that I like, that are unusual enough for people to realise that the baby is not english IYSWIM. EG I like Sienna, Nikita(not sure how i would spell it) etc.... dp wants Jamal if baby is a boy (not too sure about that though...

Glad your scan went well Twinkle.

Gone back to feeling a little nauseous today.. Oh and am going to tell dp's mum about pregnancy, (she isn't going to be happy) when I was pregnant with dd she gave me so much grief. I don't think that I will be able to bite-my-tounge if she reacts the same this time round, what with all these hormones. I've already posted about her under MONSTER IN LAW, lets see if I'll have to post again..

11+5

bubbaloo · 23/09/2006 14:21

Twinkle-Glad your scan went well.

Bubblez-Good luck with the mother in law.Hope it doesn't go as bad you think it might.

My hair is growing really fast which is rather annoying as I have it cut every 5 weeks anyway(it's very short). It fell out loads when Ds was about 3 months old and so far it's managed to stay put-don't know how long for though.

Went to an NCT sale this morning and bought ds a toy garage and lots of cars, although he's more interested in the people that sit in the cars. There's another one next Sat,so I'll probably pop along t that too and see what bargains there are to be had.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend-we have glorious weather here, the sun is shining!

bubbaloo · 23/09/2006 14:22

Btw...I also like Nikita-it's a lovely name.

mammyjo · 23/09/2006 15:13

My hair is growing like mad. Mine is short so I normally get it cut every 4 weeks but I had to go back after only 2. If it carries on it will end up costing me a fortune!

Hope everyone is having a good day today. Weather here is pretty good too. Lovely and sunny just with the odd cloud lurking about. Ds is sat by me doing some painting with half of it up his arms. Should be outside really but he said he wanted to paint so there we are!

Twinkle, really pleased that your scan went well. I have mine on Monday so fingers crossed.

Is anyone else being plagued by flies and daddy long legs. The bloody flies are everywhere today and I cant stand them. Evenings are worse though because the daddy long legs come out and I hate them. They cause me run screaming from the room like a big baby!!

As for the names issue we havent even talked about it yet. I honestly havent given it any thought at all. With ds we were sure what we were going to call him right up until the last minute and then changed our minds for something totally different!

liath · 23/09/2006 15:33

Glad the scan went well, Twinkle!!

Sunny & warm here, too. It's fab when September is nice, isn't it?

No hair loss here, have very thick hair & the hairdresser was cursing when I was pg last time trying to chop through it ! Thought she was going to give up & get the hedge cutters out.

sallycinnamon · 23/09/2006 16:08

No hair loss here either although I seem to have reverted back to being a teenager on the skin front. Yuck! We're thinking of Amelie for a girl. I think its pretty

Bugmum · 23/09/2006 16:14

Loving the pretty girly names!

Bubblez - sorry to agree with your DP but Jamal is gorgeous

liath · 23/09/2006 16:26

I like Jamal as well !

CaptainDippy · 23/09/2006 16:52

Awwww Amelie is nice! We've got Phoebe Elisabeth for a girlie and Arthur Benjamin for a boy. If it is twins and there's two girls .... we're buggered!

Feeling v.rough today.....

CornflakeKid · 23/09/2006 18:36

Evening everyone - sorry to hear you feel so bad CD - I keep saying to dh 'I will feel better soon!' (moaning about looking after 3 of us! touche!)

We have thought about Grace for a girl but struggling for a boys name - have two boys already so really tough.

Bought a nice maternity skirt and top in mamas and papas today - really struggling on the 'bottoms' front! May go look on ebay! DS's insisted on getting a cute sheep for the baby - I know its a bit early but it kept them occupied while I looked at clothes.

Off to bed soon... sleep needed desperately.

Mega busy day tomorrow - so will catch up with you all on monday! Take care everyonexxx

muminamini · 24/09/2006 08:41

Gosh it has been so long since I've posted that you'd moved!
I've not managed to go through the whole thread yet to see how everyone is....hope you have been better than me...

For the past 2 weeks I seem to have had some kind of horrendous ante natal depression.I've been hideous for my poor DH to live with I'm sure, just flying off the handle at everything and so emotional - I just cry and cry at the slightest thing, convincing myself my husband is having an affair (he's not I'm just being totally irrational). I'm putting it down to raging hormones and the tiredness has been terrible...debilitating to the point that I've just felt like I can't cope....not even to turn on the computer and read mesages...which is mad I know.

I'm feeling a bit brighter this morning and it's the first time for a while I've felt like coming on and chatting. I hope thats a sign that things might start to even out a bit...I'm 10+2 now so hoping only a few weeks of this hell to go and then I'll start to feel better....please!!!

Good news about your scan twinkle...I'm going to go and read the old thread and see if I can find out about everyone...espec Bucky...

I had my booking in appointment last week and am waiting my 12 week scan date...apart from that - just plodding along...I really hate the first trimester.

Have a fab day - I am going to a joint 1st birthday party today (of 7 1 year olds!!!!)

x

IsabellaMoi · 24/09/2006 09:14

Hi everyone. Great news about all the scans. My DH and I have a first name for a girl picked out but haven't come up with a middle name or any boy names yet. I've always LOVED baby name books and blogs and websites but now that I'm pregnant, my interest has waned a little. Guess I'm waiting 'til it all seems a bit more real.

MIAMini...very sorry it has been so rough and I truly hope things start looking up soon. Don't be at all reluctant to ask for help: whether that means posting honestly on here whenever you need to, or talking to a midwife, friend, sister, or whoever. Take care of yourself and I hope today is a GOOD day for you.
