Little boy at 16+2. Kind of just starting to look like a baby!

February 2015 #3 - Roll on the Glow!!
freneticfox · 08/09/2014 12:13

Memphis, every time I see adverts for that 4Head stuff I keep thinking I should get some and them promptly forget... added it to my list! My midwife said I can take one Solapadeine Soluble, which usually fixes my head right up. All it did today though is make me feel really sick.

Also a bit bunged up today. Thinking I'll up my Fybogel to two sachets a day.

Can I glow yet?

Memphisbelly · 08/09/2014 12:27

Hanflan I think with your first you can skip that as first movement as it can be mistaken for belly/gut rumbling.

Welcome bany I had a gender scan at 16 weeks and she turned on the 3d and it looked like a monkey, sll skinny but fst had started to build up on lips and eyes so thry were bulging Grin

My belly is off today not sure if it is nerves for ds having his first long day at school

hanflan · 08/09/2014 12:33

Awwww that's a fantastic pic, really clear! Cute little face too :) I think they only start to pile on the chub from this stage onwards so it's not surprising he was a little skinny haha.

BanglesSpangles · 08/09/2014 12:48

welcome babysquidge- have added you to the spreadsheet of glory

Those 3d scans are mental! Really brings it all home whats happening in there

hazzerw · 08/09/2014 17:59

Squidge - that's so lovely! congrats!

Hope sickness and headaches are getting better.

Bangon what's the urine test?

Bangles I've started trawling ebay and gumtree as I know what buggie I want but I don't think I want to pay full price. I had a Maclaren XT last time and loved it but it got stolen (can you believe what people will steal?) from outside our house so I don't want to fork out full price on principle!

HerRoyalNotness · 08/09/2014 18:11

Congratulations Squidge, that's a great pic! And welcome.

I had an early scan at 9wks, and was amazed then to see tiny little hands and arms waving around. It really is a miracle.

Memphisbelly · 08/09/2014 18:16

Bangom results of gender scan - boy results of ring test - girl..... i will let you know weds if the first gender scan was wrong. The ring test was correct for ds.

Ds is already in bed! School has wiped him out! Dh has just asked if I am tired as I am so grumpy.....he knows when to steer clear Grin

ScummyWithGin · 08/09/2014 19:25

Hi guys

I haven't posted here for ages as I haven't been having the best time and have been rather an ostrich! I have to have an amnio on Wednesday to find out if I've transferred Toxo to the baby and I'm dreading it. My gut feeling is that it's going to be ok, especially after the 16 week anatomy scan didn't show anything, but I then panic that it's given me false hope and I remember our horrible experience with the specialist a few weeks ago. He suggested as an option, an abortion straight away and basically told us the odds were terrible when I said I was trying to stay positive as there is a 5/6 chance that everything will be ok. DH and I both came out of the room completely shellshocked!

I do think I'm at the point now that I need to know either way. It's been horrible having to wait until 18 weeks for the test and the last 9 weeks we've been in such limbo. It's so hard to get excited and tell people and even look at baby stuff at the moment.

Anyway, trying to stay positive and will go back now and read the rest of the thread! I hope you are all doing well as we reach/creep towards the halfway point x

GeekyHybrid · 08/09/2014 19:28

Evening all. Glad the sicky people are starting to feel better but I've got to ask, where the hell is this supposed glow?! I now have a cold sore to add to the acne and constipation. Slept so much of the weekend getting so little done (cleaning the house, yeah right!) and yet I still feel knackered. Yeesh.
On the other hand, welcome squidge. All these scan pics are very exciting and everything is starting to feel quite real. Time does seem to be getting on - I was working out that if I finish at Christmas I only have 16 weeks of work to go :-) That's less than 4 months!!

BanglesSpangles · 08/09/2014 19:53

Hazzer- no way! The bloody cheek of some people! Think we are vaguely settled (for now) on a sola city, in spite of hearing vague mutterings thst mamas and papas customer services are poo. Would love an icandy but they are just so humdinkingly expensive!

Scummy- positive thoughts being sent in your general direction- keep thinking of that 5 in 6 chance that all is well- absolutely the best way to look at things. It must be awful to have to play the waiting game for so long

ScummyWithGin · 08/09/2014 19:58

Her Royal Notness I live on the East Coast and last winter was FREEZING!!!! They are sadly talking about this one being worse, which I really hope is a cruel joke as slushy, frozen streets when heavily pregnant are not going to be fun! Generally winters here don't seem to become super cold until Jan, but last year December was pretty bloody cold so I think you will need a good coat! I lived in my down jacket the whole winter and really wouldn't have managed without it. Not sure what I'll do this year-maybe steal DH's Grin
Uggs are fine if it doesn't snow but if it does they are terrible! Proper snow boots are ideal and it is pretty much like you found it in Canada, when it snows no one cares what you have on your feet so I'd bring the ones you've got!

blankfornames · 08/09/2014 20:05

Bangles, for some reason I can't add myself to the stats. Perhaps it's my cluelessness of spreadsheets! My edd is 22nd Feb. Thanks Grin

Mexicantortilla · 08/09/2014 20:17

Hi, just found the thread, can I join?
EDD 27.2.15 seenidwife today and heard heartbeat, very happy =)

babysquidge123 · 08/09/2014 20:34

GeekyHybrid, wow that makes it sound so close...less than 4 months! Although I'm not finishing until 23rd Feb, but still!

What really makes it feel more real for me now is the button on my jeans popping open! Definitely need to get some maternity/stretchy trousers in the next few weeks.

Anyone who has done this before, what were your favourite brands of maternity clothes? I'm struggling to find ones that don't make me look frumpy!!

thingsarelookingup · 08/09/2014 20:41

Welcome mexican and squidge. That's a lovely pic you've got!

I've still got 4 weeks to go until my 20 week scan and now that I'm back at work it feels so long away.

I've bought myself a ski jacket a size up from normal to get me through winter. I tried looking online for warm coats, maternity or otherwise, but everything seemed to assume you spent very little time outdoors and didn't actually need any real warmth. I think either real Londoners are much hardier than me or they just go house, car, house and back again. Ended up in a sports store with something designed for the slopes.

We won't be getting a new pram. We have a McLaren that we have got some extra inserts for to make it suitable from birth. I'm probably not really planning on using it that much for baby while it is still really little and will probably favour my ergo sling instead. I remember being so excited picking a pram for DS and looking at all the choices made it feel really real. We didn't choose well however and got a new pram 4 months in.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 08/09/2014 20:57

Welcome newbies!

Squidge I like new look, asos and next for maternity clothes but all only online.

Bangles what were the top three on your list? I think I'm going to go for a silver cross lightweight looks good and folds up small! Smile

Memphisbelly · 08/09/2014 21:09

Welcome newbies!

Scummy sending positive vibes to you will you get the results on weds or will you have to wait for them?

Squidge I agree ASOS for nice things New Look for the basics/everyday bits amd also Next, look at Next online in clearance section I got all my jeans from there, ASOS it is worth looking on ebay at their ASOS clearance shop, got a gorgeous skater dress for £15 brand new from ASOS clearance for a weekend away in Nov.

My appetite is back for today at least, sent dh to Maccys for ice cream sundae and apple pie Blush

I am so tired but I know if I went to bed I wouldn't be able to sleep!

BanglesSpangles · 08/09/2014 21:10

Blank, youre already on there- thought i was going mad because i KNEW id seen you!

Tortilla, welcome, youre on the spreadsheet too now!

Littlemiss, our top 3 ended up being m&p sola 2, babystyle oyster, icandy apple 2. I really liked the idea of a peach2 johger too, but got scared off thinking what if i stop running!

Ha- just realised my top choice is now sola 2 rather than sola city, which i said like, 20 minutes ago!

Im blatantly going ask the staff to let me try and get the top choices in and out of the boot without killing myself and to see if i can get around a shop without knocking anything/one over. I may even steal a small child for the day for my experiments

BanglesSpangles · 08/09/2014 21:13

Ooh, also silver crosses look lovely- my sis had one for her first baby, and it had a few probs with the wheels, but im sure theyll have ironed them out... Thats the problem ive found with online reviews- the old ones hang round for years after the models have been updated

Memphisbelly · 08/09/2014 21:31

Ooh like the look of the Sola 2, my friend has a Graco Evo and that is nice. I always thought I would sell my icandy and get a Silvercross Surf but my friend bought one (her boy is nearly 2) and I couldn't even fold the bloody thing Grin and it wasn't good on ground that wasn't smooth, which they have apparently improved, but I still adore my icandy so may just buy a new hood....but then I have the orange one which I still love.

I bought some 0-3 vests today, still scouring Asda's for newborn ones but all out of stock still unless I want pink which I obviously don't.

freneticfox · 08/09/2014 21:41

Oh god, pram talk! Going to be wandering round Kiddicare when my Mum visits on Saturday, hoping maybe I'll come away feeling a little more informed. I don't quite understand how travel systems with car seats work... do they need a separate base?

I'm such a parenting newb...

LittleMissSunshine33 · 08/09/2014 21:46

Hmmm thanks for the advise I like the icandy and Quinny too I think the only way I can decide is to test drive! So many choices! Blush

OP posts:
donkir · 08/09/2014 22:05

Frenetic most car seats, carrycots and pushchair seats all interlock on one pram base. There are a few out there such as Graco Symbio that need an extra bit to click car seat on. Kiddicare is the best place to go I found. They'll talk you through everything.

Memphisbelly · 08/09/2014 22:08

Frenetic no they dont they go into the car with the seatbelt...some brands you can buy a base that stays in the car with seatbelt that carseat just clips into so it saves a bit of time.....get them to show you how a carseat fits into the car, that have mock seats with seatbelts in there.
The travel systems with carseat that clips on is finecfor short trips but they don't suggest babies being in car seats for long periods as it can be bad for their little backs so something that lies flat is better for them. My advice is write down what you want/need from one first and dont be afraid to ask so e.g forward or parent facing? (Some only forward face) Carrycot? (These were my number one needs) is weight and size when folded an issue? (Small car boot) do you do lots of off road walking? If so people prefer bigger tyres.
You WILL. Be shocked at the choice in there so remember the list or you will be bewildered...in Kiddicare they do bunch brands together so if there is a brand you like try them all (I bet if your mum is like mine she will want a push of the traditional Silvercross that is mega bucks Grin)

Wow that was a long post!Grin
