Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hanflan · 05/09/2014 10:03

16 week appointment went really well, everything was fine and we got to hear and record baby's heartbeat. Magical! Midwife said it was lovely and steady which is good as it means the brain has started to regulate the beats properly or something like that?!

For the second time there were loads of ketones in my urine though. Anyone else had this? Midwife wasn't at all concerned but I've been googling (naughty) and can be an indicator of all sorts of issues! I had eaten and drank plenty that day too so no idea why levels were still so high. Oh well.

BanglesSpangles · 05/09/2014 10:42

Morning all
No idea about ketones, im afraid, han- my wee was apparently just as bog-standard as the rest of me- i must be very boring!

Have worn entirely inappropriate trousers for work today- they were find on the way in when i was standing up, but now i'm sitting down, they're crushing everything!

I'm quite interested in the sling idea- looked into sling libraries near me but they're all miles away, so if anyone has any more recommendations, im all ears!

hanflan · 05/09/2014 10:48

bangles Boring is a good thing in pregnancy I reckon ;)

BanglesSpangles · 05/09/2014 11:09

haha- you're definitely right there!

Memphisbelly · 05/09/2014 11:49

Jack I have a friend who has a nearly 3yo and has just spent £100 on a new sling Shock she isn't having any more kids so seems such a waste to me. I just want one for when they are little at 3 they can bloody walk Grin

I wake up every morning with a headache and am really thirsty too at the moment. Anyone else dehydrated?

Han regarding keytones i don't think it is much of a problem I had it early on with ds but went back to normal later on....stay away from Google Grin

Memphisbelly · 05/09/2014 13:31

I also think I have the start of a uti, I normally just try and flush it out with fluids but as I am pg should I go docs?

freneticfox · 05/09/2014 14:33

Memphis, not sure on the UTI as I've managed to avoid them so far... but with you on the thirst/headache thing. I have to always have water on me, or my head starts throbbing, seem to get dehydrated really easily at the moment.

Decided if I manage to have a nausea-free weekend then it's time to take a look at our guest room.. it will become a nursery and at the moment it's a bit of a dumping ground for things that we don't use often at all.. or ever in fact. Get the feeling I won't feel much like clearing out when I'm heavily pregnant, or when I have a newborn!

HerRoyalNotness · 05/09/2014 16:06

memphis I loved the P&T Smart, I actually won it when I had DS2, and I NEVER win anything! It was a lovely stroller.

I had a stokke xplory with DS1 that I really loved as well. I'm thinking of going for the stokke scoot for DD. But I have to sell my P&T Explorer first. I could use that, but I don't want the DSs to have the option of being able to fit in a stroller at their ages (7 and 4), they're lazy buggers. We're going to NYC at xmas and I said, that is it, no more strollers, they have to build up their stamina and leg muscles before we go. We live somewhere that is very car based as well, so it's not as if they have to walk for miles on end, I'm only talking, car to mall or around the zoo for a few hours. They really are lazy!

What do you think 2nd hand prices are for P&T stroller? It is pristine, I have the double seat, double rain cover, the lazy ted (converts 2nd seat into a bouncer chair), cosy toes, and bottle holder. Oh and a spare main hood. No fading or tears or anything. All in about US$1k plus shipping and tax, not sure what to price it at.

BanglesSpangles · 05/09/2014 16:58

Memphis, is wait a day to see if it gets any worse- I had the beginnings of one a couple of weeks back and managed to flush it out by drinking a lot of water. Touch wood haven't had any symptoms since

Have just been to Westfield Stratford for maternity tights shopping. Utterly impossible- went in about 18 different shops and only managed to find them in h&m and marks aka the last two shops I went in. Typical!

Memphisbelly · 05/09/2014 17:05

Well my uti has now got so bad I cannot stand straight and I am peeing bright red, went walk in center on advice of my doc who cant fit me in and said uti untrated while pg is dangerous and to go to a and e as because im pregnant they cannot give me a prescription there?!? Waiting for mum to pick me up to take me to prime care unit now as dh is going to be late and if its busy someone needs to be anle to take ds somewhere to eat

Memphisbelly · 05/09/2014 17:09

Herroyal what about ebay they seem to get a good price on there.

Ds hasn't been in a striller for over 18 months he just one day refused to go in one, we took him London for his 4th bday and everyone said he will be over tired and not manage he did a whole day leaving thr house at 6.30 and got to hotel at 9.30pm walking up the stairs from tube and all around the sights I don't know how he did it yet he doesn't want to walk to school, he is petrified of slugs and the slightest bit of damp they all come out on the paths near school so he os sobbing every day.

BanglesSpangles · 05/09/2014 17:57

Holy jingers, memphis- that developed quickly! Hope youre ok

Memphisbelly · 05/09/2014 18:57

Went in and there was no one else in there prime care is for illness I think and injury is in a and e, a and e had a 3 hour wait, I was taken straight in blood and protein in urine said if pain in kidney area doesn't inprove in 24 hours they will get me on a drip. Problem was im allergic to penicillin, the anti b they give when pregnant flashed up as unauthorised eventhough it isn't penicillin so they had to consult another doc who found another that will be ok.
Bugger cooking dinner I got a dine in for 2 for a tenner from M & S

Grinningcat · 05/09/2014 19:32

Having Chinese tonight. Had a long day at work today and came home to find the neighbours had erected scaffolding that is partially in our garden! Wtf! Absolutely fuming. Have taken photos and written a letter of complaint to the housing association that owns the house next door. After all that We don't fancy cooking. Plus I managed to pull something in my tummy while sitting down on a folding seat on the train. Seems to have eased now but for a while I had some really sheep worrying pains.

Grinningcat · 05/09/2014 19:33

Sheep? Sharp. Bloody spell check.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 05/09/2014 19:46

Grinning poor you horrible for the end of a Friday!!

Jack I've got to go for a diabetes test too. What did you have to do when you had it before? Did it affect Jacob?

OP posts:
GeekyHybrid · 05/09/2014 20:24

Oops - so tired this week I fell asleep within an hour of getting home and just woke up. That's my evening written off, very woolly headed now. Hopefully tomorrow will be slightly more productive!

freneticfox · 05/09/2014 21:14

Eeek, sounds nasty Memphis, hope you're on the mend soon!

Memphisbelly · 05/09/2014 21:34

Thanks frenetic I wonder if it went shitty so quick because I am dehydrated. Doc asked if I am drinking, I said loads!
How are you feeling tonight? Sickness free I hope.

Poor dh is really worried about me making tea, putting washing out on airer and offering to give me bed to myself so I can spread out. I kept crying out in pain and ds kept aaying can I feel if baby is ok.

Bimberley · 05/09/2014 22:16

Memphis I get UTIs like that. I do have messed up kidneys though. Do keep drinking water because ive already been admitted this pregnancy with an kidney infection. Its horrible so I feel your pain. Hope you make a speedy recovery.

freneticfox · 05/09/2014 22:19

I haven't had a water infection for several years, from what I can remember it was bloody unpleasant so I feel for you!

Feeling ok tonight, this is day three of no nausea (apart from a blip that passed quickly the other day). So maybe a corner turned. I hope it's a corner turned!

Memphisbelly · 05/09/2014 22:41

Thanks both I have suffered in the past but not like this, dh said his work friends wife had one while pg (his mate is a worrier) so I reckon he has put the frighteners on dh.

Frenetic so pleased you may (touch wood) have turned a corner.

Yesterday I said to someone I am really enjoying pregnancy now....spoke too soon

Bangonthedoor · 06/09/2014 00:00

Hope you feel better really soon memphis they can be so nasty! Thanks

We've had unexpected visitors this evening who have only just gone! Shock Lovely to see them though.

Sleep well all Smile

JacktheLab · 06/09/2014 06:16

LittleMiss

It was diagnosed last time when I was 32 weeks as my bump was measuring bigger than it should. I had to keep my blood sugars below a certain level, which meant cutting out most of the sweet stuff and fruit that I was eating and sticking to savoury. It's not really that onerous, its more about eating more healthily and taking a little more exercise. By the end I had to take Metformin to control my blood sugars too and I was induced early at just past 38 weeks.

Jacob was a big baby so there's an arguement that my blood sugars would be high anyway due to his size, he has almost always been on the 98th percentile for weight (he was born at 8lbs 14ozs), but I take view that it just means that I have a little more pressure on me to eat healthily and try not to put on too much weight, which is a good thing!

Yesterday I had to fast from 10pm the night before then you go in, have a vial of blood taken, drink a sugar solution (down it in one, it's horrid!) then wait for two hours, another vial of blood is taken and tea and toast is offered - hurrah!!!

Sorry for the essay!

JacktheLab · 06/09/2014 06:21

Memphis feel better soon! I hope you have an easy day planned for today?

Bangles Mothercare had tights for £6 a pair (ruddy expensive for a pair of tights!!!) they are soo comfy!

Grinning hope you are feeling better now too :)

Frenetic, you are feeling better hurrah!!

All this talk of being dehydrated is ringing true with me, I do feel quite parched alot of the time, so having a glass of water before I get started with breakfast ;)
