OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
freneticfox · 30/08/2014 21:49

Congrats Jack! I can't wait to find out if we've got a boy or girl; I'm definitely not able to handle waiting full term.

Nauseated tonight, and I'm 16w today. If someone sees the glow fairy, send the dopey cow my way, aye?

Also; mothercare have some really good deals on at the moment, we're tempted with a steriliser/pump/bottles set for £75 (down from £140).

jenmcspen · 30/08/2014 21:52

I'm not sure if I'm being overly optimistic, but I was hoping to work until 36/37 weeks depending on how much holiday I have left (my hol year starts again on 1st feb).
At the moment I don't know how we will afford it, but I am desperate to have my full 12 months maternity so I can have a proper first xmas with baby. So to be honest I plan on working as late as I feel I can really! Confused

donkir · 30/08/2014 22:32

Bumped into one if my parents older friends today and ended up having a disagreement about me finding out if it's pink or blue. I didn't even ask for her opinion.
I'm working until I drop I hope then taking 2 months. I can take baby to work with me though and as a nanny I can still do all the baby groups and classes. Plus I don't want anyone else to look after my charges for long and undo all my hard work.

Memphisbelly · 30/08/2014 23:52

Bella that is a long time on maternity before baby arrives that could mean 9 weeks before baby arrives for your work friend!

I will be working until as late as I can I am only part time though and work for mum. Will be dropping the day I work alone after xmas though as it takes a while to set up/pack away and an hour to get home in case anything happened while there.

Donkir how odd for someone to call you on your decision, I had someone at work today say kids these days are silly wanting to find out before birth it should remain a nice surprise...I pointed out to him I could habe given birth to Pinocchio and I wouldn't have given a damn I was so out of itGrin

Frenetic is the feeling improving at all or is as bad as ever? Will look at Mothercare for offers though we got a £100 moses basket from there for £40 recently

I have been to the pub and now am eating a kebab ...well trying I am hungry but have picked at the pitta and some salad! Some drunken bloke I haven't seen in around 10 years touched my bump.....I got angry

Sneeze so hard earlier I felt something twang in my groin it really really did hurt and I worried but seems to have passed now.

JacktheLab · 31/08/2014 04:21

Vella I'm planning to finish up at 33 or 34 weeks too. Coincides with Xmas leave anyway so I'd be off for two weeks and doesn't seem worth it going back in jan for a couple of weeks.

Ds is going to be in nursery just three days a week, so we will spend a couple of days a week doing things together and then the other days I'm going to watch tv and have a break before it all starts again Wink

I found the last bit last time quite tough and no more babies for us so making the most of it this time :)

BanglesSpangles · 31/08/2014 08:15

Morning All

Today 'the big clean up' commences- we're going to sort through all the wardrobes, cupboards and drawers and get some bags together for the charity shop to try and create some space for baby stuff!

Re mat leave, im intending on going back for january, to give a few weeks to get stuff sorted after the christmas break, so the intention is to stop at 38 weeks, which going by what everyone else is doing, sounds honkingly optimistic!

Bangonthedoor · 31/08/2014 08:58

Morning all!

memphis that sounds like round ligament pain. I got it loads with DD and have had it this time round pretty much from day one. Any quick movement and I'm screwed, couldn't even cough the other day without feeling like I'd been stabbed. Try not to worry just try and not make sudden movements although I'm not sure how you'd do a slo mo sneeze?! Grin

I'm planning on finishing on Xmas eve with my maternity leave starting on 30th December as I have some time off over Xmas anyway. I'll be going off quite early but like the sound of finishing at Xmas and not worrying for a whole year! I've told my boss I'll only take 9 months this time but I've changed my mind already. I know she'll be disappointed, do you think I should tell her my new plans now or wait fora review during my Mat leave?

DD and I are off to a surprise baby shower today. Really looking forward to it. Have a nice Sunday everyone Smile

donkir · 31/08/2014 09:21

My oh has got a long awaited weekend day off so we're having a late breakfast of bacon sarnies and then going for a late carvery. Today is a good day. Enjoy everyone.

LittleMissSunshine33 · 31/08/2014 13:42

Morning ladies!

I would love to go on ML at 36 weeks but my money will be at its most then and think I will need it for as long as possible! So going at 38 weeks ... If I can!

I feel very emotional today I'm going to a charity fundraiser today for two babies one with William Syndrome and one with downs I can not stop crying for them and worrying about my baby! I can't even put my make up on! I have a feeling it's only going to get worse when I'm there! The patents are friends of mine and amazing! It's all just so scary!!

bellaboo88 · 31/08/2014 18:52

My work colleague is glad...she can't stay any longer, she's in agony & in her own words, useless!

I'm tempted to finish right before Xmas. I doubt I'll be able to do much at all by that point. I'm not worried about getting bored, I had a years career break & it wasn't long enough!

Been at carboots today (left house 6:10, got in at 12:15!) Got tonnes of bits & bobs, perfect barely used pram blankets for £1, curtain/cot duvet/blanket set £5 (& we've got 6ft windows, she's lined them herself too, bonus!)

Lots of babygrows between 10p&50p. Also picked up a scuttle bug for £3, never been used....couldn't resist, it'll b fine in garage.

Not a lot left to get other than pram, mattresses for cot&2moses & bedding. Oh & delightful things I've read about like fanny mattresses & boob pads. The joys! Xx

sandulacek · 31/08/2014 19:20

Wow Bella...good work there. Is this your first? I'm absolutely clueless where to start as it's our first but planning to do some research first. Don't think we'll be buying much before the 20week scan though so that we know which camp we are in.

As I'm due 23rd Feb I'm planning to work till the end of January if possible, my boss already offered I could do some working from home so that's a bonus.

Have to buy some maternity clothes as my new maternity bra is an absolute bliss!

Memphisbelly · 31/08/2014 19:25

Bella wow that sounds like a good haul of stuff!

Just before I fell pg we decorated and carpeted our spare room as I had given up hope of a bany arriving, luckily I did it in a mustsrd like yellow and have ordered some lovely animal fabric that will go to make a blind, we also rescued an old drawer/cupboard that was left in a house a friend bought so I repainted it, it became my wedding cupboard and now it will be a bany one just need to sort it out as my baby box is getting bigger!

Been to a spa today it was amazing, had a facial, leg massage and a mum to be belly mask, baby was going nuts in there Grin
Ds is mow back from his weekend so all happy here

GeekyHybrid · 31/08/2014 20:08

Hi guys, good to see everyone's still here and bumbling along. I think I've managed to catch up on the thread. Fingers crossed for frenetic and those only just turning the corner from the ms.
Thanks bang for letting me know it's called round ligament pain, I've had it a lot, I even noticed it when swimming on holiday! Coughing, sneezing and laughing all produce a twinge and as for moving suddenly or turning over in bed wrong - yikes. Hopefully it will settle down, along with my erupting skin :-/
I'm at that stage where I know I'm starting to show but I'm fairly certain that most people seeing me in my swimsuit on holiday just thought I was getting podgy. Oh well, bump will only get bigger and be more obviously a baby bump rather than a food one! Even my looser jeans are getting so that they're tight in the evenings, soon all my trousers bar trackies will have to be ditched.
Back to work in the morning so best get organised, catch you all later, xx

Grinningcat · 31/08/2014 20:17

Sounds like bliss memphis. I have also had ligament pain. I had a cold two weeks ago and a cough since then that has me suffering from stabbing groin pain with every sneeze and cough. Fun!

However had my best day so far re energy levels and digestion so feeling pretty good for once. MIL has gone shopping and we now have twice as many baby clothes as we had (only about 6/7 bits). Thankfully she is sensible and has gone for larger sizes rather than newborn and basics like vests and bibs. We have also inherited about 1000 nappy sacks and other bits from SIL.

I'm also thinking of going on ML at 38 weeks with a week of leave before that. I will have a bit more leave to take before then, but I'm not sure whether to take it as another week off (so finish at 36 weeks) or just have 4 day weeks through Jan (due 21st February).

Minichuch · 31/08/2014 20:47

Hello All

Thought I would have a quick look on here - never thought there would be a thread for Feb 2015 - don't think its really sunk in yet - i'm only just in Feb 2015 due 27th Feb so about 14 + 2

Reading comments - think I'm getting away really lightly at the min - had bit of nausea but no actual sickness, no mood swings - only thing bothering me is tiredness on an evening - so all in all good I suppose for first timer

Ticktick · 01/09/2014 05:13

Quick question for those in USA!

herroyal I'm on holiday in Texas and suddenly my belly has expanded. I need to shop for maternity clothes, where should I go for reasonably priced tops?

Thanks X

BanglesSpangles · 01/09/2014 08:12

Welcome minichuch- will add you to the spreadsheet as soon as im near a proper computer!

Midwife appointment for me this morning, hence lay in, surely? Err, no, hence me being up earlier than usual to log into my work emails.

After we cleared out 15 bags of stuff from the spare bedroom, went to mothercare to get baffled by pushchairs, then to the inlaws where sis in law announced she's expecting #2 in april- babies everywhere next year.

L1ttleMissGiggles · 01/09/2014 09:54

Hi Everyone, am new to this and just discovered this tread. I am due 17th Feb. Glad I found this as its nice to compare what everyone else is going through. On a separate note does anyone know how long the Asda baby event goes on for? Thanks and congrats to everyone! xx

BanglesSpangles · 01/09/2014 12:17

Hi L1ttleMissGiggles- have added you to the spreadsheet of wonder too :)
Asda baby event, you say? Didn't know it was on, but hoping it might be for another month because I've promised myself I wouldn't start buying stuff until after the 20 week scan - and that's not for three more weeks!

16 week midwife was reassuringly anticlimactic- waited 25 minutes to go in, then 5 minutes of tick tick tick, blood tests fine, wee in pot, blood pressure test, any questions, no? OK Bye...

Memphisbelly · 01/09/2014 12:31

The Asda baby event ends this week I think. I got my bottles from there but there isn't a great selectm after the first week of it normally.

Memphisbelly · 01/09/2014 12:31

Bangles thats the norma for any mw checks from now on adding hear hearltbeat and poke belly

L1ttleMissGiggles · 01/09/2014 12:33

Thank you BanglesSpangles, not seen the spread sheet but appreciate you adding me. If you go on asda's site you can see all they have on offer. I like you wanted to wait until after 20 weeks although have bought a few bits so far and put a deposit on a travel system and bought a crib! Haha, I'm too much of a shopaholic! I am away with work this coming weekend otherwise I would of gone to asda to have a look at everything.

I have 16 week app with midwife tomorrow, hoping to hear the heartbeat but have read that not all surgerys offer this at 16 weeks. Keeping fingers crossed that mine does! Smile xxx

Grinningcat · 01/09/2014 12:34

My 16 week app is tomorrow. I must admit I wasn't expecting much - tests all fine (surely they'd have contacted me by now if they weren't?), you're rhesus neg (which I already told her), hand over pee in a pot, take bp, see you next time. From your experience Bangles sounds like I'm probably right.

L1ttleMissGiggles · 01/09/2014 12:34

Ah shame, thanks for the info tho Memphisbelly. Hopefully there will be another one along in a few months time. I am aware that they do it throughout the year but as this is my first I've never taken that much notice before. xxx
