OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Grinningcat · 01/09/2014 12:55

Whoops. Somehow managed to repeat post by accident. Sorry.

Memphisbelly · 01/09/2014 13:06

L1ttlemiss I could be wrong re Asda though. i have been in a few times and they have had no vests at all in sizes below a 9-12 month, I found them to wash the best last time so was eagar to buy them, hoping once event is over they will get more stock.

They have the events every few months, boots, Aldi (their nappies are excellent), Sainsburys and Morrisons all do them too. morrisons one are normally. Well stocked as they now own Kiddicare too.

Mil slated all of our name choices today 'oh no its awful you cannot call a baby THAT' luckily all the names I adore we have not mentioned as I expected it. She likes Simon and Stacey ad names so wouldn't be using her insight anyway

freneticfox · 01/09/2014 13:07

Afternoon all, hope everyone had a decent weekend. I had a nausea-free night last night; after three nights of hell I am feeling happy today! Maybe it's on the way out, maybe it's not. Either way, a good night = happy Fox.
I did have a very restless night though despite now having a body pillow. The temperature jumped up a bit here and I certainly felt it!

Just had a greasy burger for lunch. I would feel guilty, but MY GOD. It tasted amazing.

Memphisbelly · 01/09/2014 13:26

Frenetic, don't feel guilty....you are allowed to eat what you want especially after a few rotten feeling nights.

BanglesSpangles · 01/09/2014 13:32

woohoo! It's definitely on the way out frenetic! Fingers crossed for you :)

I must say as boring as my midwife appointments have been thus far, they must be absolutely brill if you had any additional needs, or wanted to ask questions- god bless the NHS, even if my personal appointments seem like a bit of a waste of time!

memphis I got Aldi nappies in the Emmas Diary pack, so handy to know they're actually good. Actually, had a convo with my mum and sister at the weekend about how I was thinking about using non-disposables, and they told me i was creating too much work for myself, in a world that i try and keep faff-free... I think I'm inclined to agree with them, on reflection!

Oh, and a [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1moEjI8_LsAH1NnaqDmOt2SMLZkovo8AuRbHNN_1gRwU/edit?usp=sharing link] to the spreadsheet of wonder for the new peeps:

BanglesSpangles · 01/09/2014 13:33

balls, i knew that would happen- docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1moEjI8_LsAH1NnaqDmOt2SMLZkovo8AuRbHNN_1gRwU/edit?usp=sharing

Bangles Pampers set ds's bum off something terrible, he left hospital with nappy rash as they provided Pampers, we went onto Sainsburys (they were huge for a first size) we liked Aldi the best but also rated Asda and Tesco. My friend has given me around 100 Aldi nappies over 3 sizes as her dd has grown out of them all.

I am the only one due on the 27th Jan!

Ds has gone school, before he left he asked to listen to my belly to see if he could here the baby, I had just eaten so my belly was gurgling so now he thinks the baby was trumping....whats the guessing he tells his new teacher Grin

Bimberley · 01/09/2014 16:16

Feel like I've missed loads! Need to catch up and only been off for a few days!

Jackthelab? Congrats on the girl news!

DD doesn't start school until the 17th round here so still a couple of weeks off.

Baby is moving all the time now! Yesterday as I yawned baby decided to do a massive roll over and it felt so strange it shocked me.
Also have quite a large bump these past couple of days. I have eaten so much this weekend though.

I have just ordered babygrows, vests, mittens and hats.
Also a blanket which I couldn't resist!
Glad I've finally started!

Hope everyone has had a good day!

GeekyHybrid · 01/09/2014 18:44

Yay! I was on the database to check out all revisions (bangles you're awesome!) and realised I must have failed to mention that they changed my EDD and was going to mention it but then thought 'hey, I'm sure I can do this' and I actually managed to edit it myself. As you may have gathered I'm rather chuffed with myself. It's been a lot of years since I've been near a spreadsheet so really do feel like I achieved something. Sad, I know.
On the other hand, work itself was fine today though frustrating, trying to get wiring for vines into a dry stone wall - every other vine eye bent, popped out or stripped the plastic coating from the wires, lost count of how many times I had to start a section again. But it's done and dusted, tomorrow is another day and all that. And Wednesday is my 16 week appointment, I really hope I get to hear the heartbeat, would just be reassuring. Anyone else get irrational thoughts even at this stage?

donkir · 01/09/2014 18:57

I'm getting irrational thoughts if I can't feel baby move and when I do I second guess myself thinking it should be harder. Didn't help that they didn't check heartbeat last week at midwife. Hoping now nearly 18 weeks the movements increase.

GeekyHybrid · 01/09/2014 19:07

Thanks donkir, glad it's not just me. I can't decide if I've got (more!) indigestion or if it is the start of feeling sproglet moving :-/ I've got no reason to be anxious and find it illogical to be worrying, roll on Wednesday. I still feel a bit daft for worrying to start with though!

thingsarelookingup · 01/09/2014 19:48

I worry too geeky. I don't think I'll ever stop. I remember stopping the pram regularly to check that ds was still breathing whenever I took him for a walk! Smile

Memphisbelly · 01/09/2014 21:00

I worry too Every twinge I am knicker checking and I still don't relax with ds and he is 4, constantly checking he is breathing when he is asleep, the first time he slept through was hell for me I just lay awake waiting for him to wake!

I bought baby a teddy bear snow suit from Sainsbury's it was £12, I had been watching a secondhand one on from tesco on ebay but it went for over £12 inc postage!Shock

JacktheLab · 01/09/2014 21:02

I remember the first time ds slept through, I woke up in a total panic and went to check if he was breathing!

For weeks afterwards we used to open his door and listen to his breathing just in case Grin

Watching in the club on catch up my dh refuses to watch it!

Memphisbelly · 01/09/2014 21:21

Jack my ds only did it the once so no need to check after that for us Grin
At school today their was a newborn baby screaming and my pg friend went awwwwww while I just got filled with horror thinking oh goodness this will be me in a few months!

suzimagoozi · 01/09/2014 21:48

JacktheLab - am loving In the Club! Haven't seen the latest episode (no spoilers pleaseWink ).

Am now 18+4 and still waiting for flutters/bubbles/anything!! I find myself getting so worried at night when I'm lying in bed just waiting. 20 week scan on the 11th seems a life time away. The only thing keeping me from buying a doppler or having a private scan is the fact I heard the heartbeat at the 16 wk me app. and my belly is certainly still growing!

Bangonthedoor · 02/09/2014 07:05

Morning all,

I'm an in the club fan too and surprisingly so is DP!

I've got my consultant appointment this morning and I don't really know what to expect? First time I've had one. I'm terrified they'll examine me as I'm not neat and tidy down there! Blush

BanglesSpangles · 02/09/2014 07:43

Haha excellent spreadsheet work geeky.

Im still most definitely on knicker watch- realised this as i was squinting away at the loo roll at 5 this morning but didnt want to turn the light on

I didnt get the chance to hear a heartbeat at my 16 week app either- first day in maternity tights today, and im still thinking i might have just eaten too much and its all a food baby... I need a sign!!

donkir · 02/09/2014 08:57

Bangon when I had my consultant appointment they did check me down there but mine is cervix related issues so couldn't really avoid it. I had a male consultant but had a female nurse in with me too. I am definitely not neat down there and only trim if wearing a swimming costume.
I'm pregnant with dc2 so robe fair don't really care who has a look as long as everything ok with baby.
Hope all goes well for you today.

kkllww · 02/09/2014 09:01

Hi all,
I didn't get to hear the heartbeat on my 16wk app either - the mw said she'd heard it for 2 seconds but then the baby moved and she couldn't find it again. I keep flipping between wanting to go for a private gender scan for reassurance and thinking I should just wait until the 20 week one! Hope you get to hear yours Geeky.
I keep getting pains in my right bum cheek - does anyone else have this? I don't want it to get worse (poss sciatica?) so asked the mw for any advice but she was unhelpful and just said if it gets bad then I'll need to go to my GP and get physio. I was after advice on exercise, stretching etc or whether it's best to rest it...

Grinningcat · 02/09/2014 09:04

Midwife app today. I am going to ask if we can listen for the heartbeat as she said at my 8 week app that we would give it a try this time. I really hope we can.

Found out yesterday that DH's nasty boss probably isn't going to let him come to the 20 week scan. Boo. Angry We had even managed to get an appointment at 9am to minimise disruption to the working day. He hasn't said no outright, but is stringing DH along as usual making inane comments such as - "well you should have thought of this when you were conceiving...". If he doesn't let DH have his paternity leave then his boss will have to cope with angry pregnant lady making a scene in his shop. Maybe I can get angry MIL and SIL to join in!

Memphisbelly · 02/09/2014 10:04

Bang on I didn't even get my belly felt at my consultant appointment think it is only if it is to do with cervix etc they will look, I only ever got examined while in labour never before or after (although they asked after I said no)

Kk i have this in my left bumcheek it is sciatica, mine hasn't got any worse but sometimes feels like it is locking in certain positions, if you go to the physio they will give you exercises to do, worst thing you can do is rest it, movement is good for it.

Grinning his boss sounds like a tool, he cannot refuse him paternity, the government pay it anyway but it is a legal requirment to offer it to people who want it, dh is only having one week as it is only around £135 a week then having a weeks holiday. Sounds like he likes the power trip! Dh's boss is anti kids, anti family and doesn't allow holidays to be booked in school hols as it is their busiest time but ds was born in hols and he had no choice, he did say you could have timed it out of the holidays Shock

Ds is at school for his 2 hours again, the walk is killing me, I am only just recovering from walk there and now have to leave again in 15

Memphisbelly · 02/09/2014 10:25

Oh and for those worried about you bikini line I will tell the tale of mine when I had ds.....I was contracting so had a bath, had a new Quattro blade and went in blind due to size of bump using feel to guide me, felt like I did a good job, popped ds out came home and had a bath, next to bathroom we had a full length mirror, I looked and sobbed, it was a perfectly even side burn......I had scalped one side and got an even strip but on one side, it looked like one of Elvis' sideburns Blush
Dh thought it was funny and I asked the mw when she came to visit if they would have laughed, she said they wouldn't have even noticed! This time I am either leaving it or using a mirror Grin

BanglesSpangles · 02/09/2014 10:59

kkllww- i got hellish sciatica for a few weeks (doing too much lifting, i think!) and my OH showed me some yoga moves- cat and cow, king pigeon and this one: www.fitsugar.com/You-Asked-Stretch-Sciatica-5594960 (appreciate it's a bit 'controversial' as it involves laying on your back, but by all accounts as long as lying on your back doesn't make you feel faint, you should be ok)

Did the trick for me- i did it last night in fact to make sure it doesn't make a reappearance!

BanglesSpangles · 02/09/2014 11:01

Also, laughing a bit at memphis's sideburns- im thinking about the whole lady garden issue a bit too much, but guessing the midwives won't give a monkeys if I go in porn star or wookie
