Thingsarelookingup think of the positives of being heavily pg you can go off for a rest when you want some time away from IL's Grin

Bangonthedoor · 29/08/2014 18:08

Not sure about xmas this year yet...we've spent the last 5 with DP's family so I think it's only fair that we spend the day with my family this year. Although I don't know what my dad's plans are this year. I'm pretty gutted I won't be able to just drink and drink over the Xmas period....god that sounds awful! Blush But it's all part of it isn't it?!

Other parts of Xmas I'm on track with...I'm half way through my present shopping and I've arranged for some gardeners to come and ''make good" my front garden so I can go all out with outdoor decs! We only use the back door so I was shocked the other day to see my front door is barely visible Blush

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 18:17

Bangon yes booze is a big part of it, snowballs and bucks fizz with breakfast, I don't get drunk but like a glass in my hand

LancashireTea · 29/08/2014 18:35

Glad it isn't just me thinking about Christmas. This is going to be the last 'normal' one for me (if normal consists of this one being a 'dry' Xmas and me being a 15ft globesized monster). Me and OH go to our own parents and then meet just before New Year and spend that either with his or my parents. (My parents = my mates). My mother likes routine, so our military-esque strict routine and timings are not allowed to stray. She'll not be happy with the change next year when I won't drive 250 miles with a screaming baby.

I am looking forward to bargain hunting though.

I'm more dreading my 30th Birthday which is the week before. No booze to inebriate celebrate it.

thingsarelookingup · 29/08/2014 19:03

Excellent point Memphis. I will need to use that excuse to full effect I think.

thingsarelookingup · 29/08/2014 19:06

Lancashire and bang I hate being sober for so long so totally get where you are coming from. Because I will breast feed it will end up about 18 months dry for me. I think it's good for my liver to have the break but I really love a quiet beer. I rarely get drunk anymore but a Friday afternoon pint or a pimms in the sunshine is one of my favourite past times.

BanglesSpangles · 29/08/2014 20:45

Ditto on the drinking- im not permanently trashed or anything, but i do like a glass or two at the weekend and christmas basically = drinking in various forms- i'll miss the breakfast bucks fizz. Just had a curry, and could have really gone for a beer!

freneticfox · 29/08/2014 21:32

I'm 16w tomorrow and I feel very queasy tonight.

Still holding out hope for a miraculous shift in symptoms...

Memphisbelly · 29/08/2014 23:26

Lancashire I have friends who always did seperate xmas's until they had a bsby now they alternate the years which works out fsir for them as they both hate their inlaws so it saves arguements because they both grt their fsir share to endure Grin
It is my birthday thr week of my due date,I am used to going away for a boozy weekend with my friends one week then going away with dh for another to celebrate then on my actual bday going for a curry with dh snd mum, this year it will just be the curry.....that will hopefully kickstart labour? Grin

Had my friend over for a chinese and a film tonight, we have new neighbours opposite snd he was collectimg something from car as I waved off my friend, dh is away and my friend is male.....so thats probably got new neighbour gossiping Grin

I have also got nominated to do that ice challenge it has caused uproar on my fb a few pregnant friends have kicked off calling friend thoughtless and uncaring, I think it is hilarious to see the shitstorm errupt, my friend has apologised and begged me not to do it now.....its only water, I won't implode Grin

LittleMissSunshine33 · 30/08/2014 01:01

Yay I love Christmas talk!
Lancashire it's my bday a week before too but I had my 30th last year so can let this one slide! Will definitely miss out on not drinking this year but already looking forward to all the yummy food!!

Just got back from BIL engagement party it's amazing how much your social life changes when you're pregnant I found myself often alone and just sitting while everyone else stood at the bar drinking or outside smoking ... Getting me used to motherhood I guess?!

Memphis I was also nominated but my friends couldn't understand why I couldn't do it!! Although I'm sure most of the ones I've seen have not had ice in and are probably a warm temperature really Wink

I love Christmas but it's always so much travelling as my ds has to see his dad, I then also need to see my mum and then my dad. We don't talk to dp parents so at least that narrows it down.
My bday is 5 days after Christmas but very rarely go out as everyone saves their money for the day after which is nye.

Memphisbelly · 30/08/2014 08:33

All these xmas/New year birthdays amongst us! Grin

BanglesSpangles · 30/08/2014 09:26

Morning all
Today i will be making a list of all the stuff that we want to fo around the house before february. Major spend will be doing the bathroom- we only have a shower and i really want a bath- we can pretend its being done for the baby now, but really its because we both LOVE a bath!

Back me up, current mums- would it be a pain doung kids bathtime in the shower/sink?

JacktheLab · 30/08/2014 10:50

Bathing a baby/young toddler is much easier in the bath. My ds is almost three and is only now starting to take a shower so it would have been difficult without a bath before now. One vote for a bath for you Wink

Just waiting to go in to our gender scan, just really need to know now! Arghhhhhh!!!!

thingsarelookingup · 30/08/2014 11:05

Oooh exciting jack. Let us all know!

Definitely agree that a bath is much easier for kids bangles. My DS is almost 3 and still much prefers a bath. He will have a shower if we are away on holidays but loves just playing in the bath.

I can join the december birthday club. In fact we share a birthday donkir. It is a rubbish date for a birthday I find so I tend not to bother to really celebrate it anymore. I'm not really bothered though. I don't like presents anyway, I do like a party but don't particularly care what the excuse is so someone else's birthday is just as good.

JacktheLab · 30/08/2014 11:39

It's girl Grin

donkir · 30/08/2014 11:57

Congrats jack brilliant news

BanglesSpangles · 30/08/2014 12:00

Eee congrats jack!

And thanks for the bath backup, guys! Just contacted someone to get a quote for moving the boiler

Bangonthedoor · 30/08/2014 14:57

Congratulations jack! How lovely!

Definitely a vote from me re bath for kids. DD occasionally has a shower but almost always a bath and it's lovely for when they are tiny if they have tummy pains such as constipation, trapped wind of colic Smile and another positive is it's lovely sharing a bath with them Smile

Bangonthedoor · 30/08/2014 14:57

*or colic

Memphisbelly · 30/08/2014 16:04

Ah congratulations Jack.......bet you have been shopping this afternoon Wink

Memphisbelly · 30/08/2014 16:07

Bangles its a bath vot for me, sink is great when they are teeny tiny but ds is 4 and petrified of the shower, also will be nice to relax when heavily pregnant in a warm bath!

My child and dh free lie in was ruined my dh calling at 7.15....i was not happy, been work and now about to have a soak in the bath, going for a spa day tomorrowSmile

blankfornames · 30/08/2014 17:38

Congrats Jack! A boy & girl...the perfect family!

Grinningcat · 30/08/2014 17:50

Congrats Jack.

I can add myself to the Xmas birthday group as mine is the 4 days before. My there are a lot of us aren't there!

Another vote for a bath. I couldn't survive without mine.

Bought my first maternity jeans today and wearing them now. So comfy and only £3 from New Look! Also got multiple pairs for later on from a very good friend along with a baby dux travel cot.

bellaboo88 · 30/08/2014 21:34

Bangles, I've done the same....I'm having my open plan living room/hallway separated & daft things like a properly fitting splashback on cooker!

Work colleague has started maternity at 33weeks today.

I'm really unsure how you're meant to predict how far you'll finish. When is it you need to inform them, 25 weeks? Xx
