Morning all!! So full of cold. Yuck.

Does anyone here have a bump band or used one? I can't find any trousers I like but am bursting out of my work trousers. I sit behind the desk with my zip down haha. Nice.

Love 'Nigel' :-) we were looking at the national statistics on baby names for 2013 and were wondering how to respond to it. If it was popular in 2013 does that mean it will put everyone off and it's a safe bet for 2015? It's such a risky game! Being a teacher makes it even more of a challenge!

sunshineandbiscuits · 18/08/2014 08:40

vivi thanks for your cheerful post yesterday. Made me smile Smile Very happy to share a bit about our ttc journey, just ask if you have any specific questions, or I can write something on here later.

kate I bought a belly belt from Amazon (arrgh can't link from my phone, it's the first thing that comes up if you Google). It is amazing, my clothes have a new lease of life. Very comfy too, definitely far better than the hairband I was using before. I reckon my normal clothes are good for a couple more months.

Less than an hour and a half until our scan! Scanxiety levels rising. Currently drinking a cup of tea to encourage wriggling!

PS rum that sounds like an awesome day, definitely our type of weekend. DW finished knitting the first baby cardigan yesterday. It has a row of little sheep round the middle and is so cute! Love the sound of nigel the bunny.

KateTheHuman · 18/08/2014 08:58

Aww brilliant sunshine thank you! I'll go order one now! I'm so uncomfy at the moment!

KateTheHuman · 18/08/2014 08:58

And good luck for your scan! I wish I'd have thought of tea haha. Are you finding out sex of baby or do you know? :)

sunshineandbiscuits · 18/08/2014 09:11

We are definitely finding out sex. Sooo excited!! Grin

rumisyum · 18/08/2014 09:40

Haha, Nigel would be a better name than some of the boy ones my DH keeps throwing around. We're pretty set on our girl name, but boy names... No joy! Galahad is his latest (completely ridiculous) suggestion, reasoning being that we know so many baby Arthurs, the other knights of the round table are due some love too. < rolls eyes >

Good luck for your scan sunshine! Hope the baby's nice and wriggly after the tea. And a sheep cardigan! Ahhhh, the cuteness! Smile

PHEW INDEED, Pru! Interestingly, no one's asked us about NCT. I think because my friends must all assume that I'd definitely be doing it (I definitely am. I'm so predictable. Grin )

I tried on a pair of my stilettos last night while thinking up an outfit for the husband's birthday dinner later this week, and nearly fell over. Hmm There goes my balance! And there go any misguided ideas about being a chic preggo who wears heels all the way through. Wink I think the size or shape of my feet may have started to change as well? Those shoes used to be, if anything, slightly big for me, but they were feeling a touch tight! Maybe I've just started to get the wondrous foot swelling? Only time will tell...

Anyone else having scans today? Good luck!

Morning all. Just found you after camping last week.

Have 20w scan this afternoon. Not finding out sex.

Have to arrange flights back to UK next week for my DGM's funeral. Do I need to get a fit to fly certificate at this stage?(have never flown when pg before..well, at 8w last time).

Saraswati · 18/08/2014 11:46

Engels I was looking at flight rules the other day as I've got a work trip to Marseilles in September, you only need a fit to fly note after 28 weeks but this was BA, not sure if other airlines have different rules. I'll be 27 weeks when I go but might get one anyway as it's a work trip and don't want to screw it up by being refused on the flight!

I'm daydreaming about baby stuff today, can't seem to get my head around work. Plus i've had a headache for 3 days that just won't shift! Have tried paracetamol and one of those 4head sticks, I've drunk loads of water and eaten. Anyone got any other good remedies?

On a positive note I now havent been sick for a whole week! So despite the horrid headache I feel a bit more like a human being again :)

RPopz · 18/08/2014 11:48

Calling you can fly til 24/ 28 weeks without a note (can't remember which - may also depend on the individual airline) and quite late after that with a Doctors note ("I faithfully promise not to give birth on your plane" !?) - something like 35 weeks I'm sure! So you should be fine. Sorry about your DGM xx Thanks

sunshineandbiscuits · 18/08/2014 12:43

Just got back from our scan. Pleased to say that everything was absolutely fine and normal with the baby - such a relief. The baby even gave us a little thumbs up, it was so cute! Calling good luck with your scan this afternoon.

We did find out the gender - and it's a little girl!!!! We are still a bit stunned as we had always thought it was a boy - it's very weird now referring to the baby as she! That's nub theory 1, gut feeling 0 for us! Interestingly, the sonographer said that the nub theory was not just an old wives' tale and is actually about 85% accurate, so they often can tell at the 12wk scan but never tell patients just in case. We are absolutely over the moon GrinGrinGrin

We also had a look around the birth centre, it was really nice. It's very new and all the rooms have a huge birthing pool, double bed and lots of active birthing aids. We are really very lucky with our local hospital.

We have the day off, so going for a walk in our local National Trust property now, possibly topped with a cream tea. Hope everyone is having a nice day Smile

Good luck to everyone else with scans today.

Fab news sunshine and yay for a girl!

ViviPru · 18/08/2014 13:01

What a lovely day Sunshine and yay for another girl on the bus. Thumbs-up joy!

Did you have IUI or IVF? Both couples we know had IUI at the LWC. The first couple had success first time both times with the same donor (and paid extra for donor exclusivity) so have biological brother and sister, each mum has a bio child.

The second couple have had two rounds and so far been unsuccessful. They were told that could be for various reasons but BMI might be a factor. They are now thinking about IVF at the LWC, and have said either way, any subsequent children will be IVF, both with same carrying mum, but the 2nd she will surrogate with her DWs egg. Have you already planned a preferred process for possible subsequent children? I understand there's a timeframe for exclusive same-donor treatment...

I keep feeling sick today. It's either work or Mondays because I don't feel sick any other time! Argh!
