I'm enjoying the peace before mindees arrive. The rain has finally stopped , so it's off to the farm park for the day. I love my job!
Hope you all have a good day, oh Kate, I'm with you in the feeling fat (well fatter) camp.

Feeling your pain kate. I'm still in bed thinking I'll lose my job if I don't get myself in gear :( Just want to sleep for another 5 hours.

I've just had two weeks off work Mad so I got a bit used to lovely afternoon naps. And def no lovely bump hee. I'm a podge so as soon as I sit down my B belly appears. Nearly getting a perfect D when stood up though. But I don't think I look pregnant just fat. I can't wait til I don't have to inform people I've got a baby in me and it's not just food haha. I normally go to bed about 9ish. Bake off tonight so it'll have to be after that!

blizy I'm sure one day I'll have a huge bump and look back thinking I should have made the most of this time and not whined but the grass is always greener hee. I want a huge baby bump!!

Miss oh 5 hours sound like bliss! I'd definitely go for that!

KateTheHuman · 13/08/2014 10:06

In other news I'm craving to go swimming but not until I find some board swim short things that cover my thighs. Haven't got swimming in public since I was a teenager. Can't find anything in my size though. I'm considering buying some men's shorts instead as they seem to be in larger sizes.

Minibagel · 13/08/2014 10:15

All this talk of exercise is making me feel tired. I am not sleeping very well, lots of strange dreams and periods of lying awake for no reason at all. It is getting to the point where I dread going to bed but putting it off just makes me more tired the next day. I really envy everyone who is able to sleep well!

I hope your scan went well this morning saras

Morning Mini. I feel your pain! I'm up every two hours for no reason whatsoever.

Dec2013mummy · 13/08/2014 10:54

mini I definitely know what you mean!! I had awful dreams last night when I finally got to sleep. Woke up in a right panic! Dh gave me a hug though and then couldn't sleep himself poor guy.
I love bake off, I'm a bit lazy when it comes to cooking and baking though, I'm just too impatient. I have to really be in the mood and I am just so exhausted all the time that I don't have the energy in between looking after Ds.
Ds is teething again and it really bothered him yesterday when he came to eat. Poor thing! He is such a little cutie though, he sat up laughing in bed for 2 hours last night for no apparent reason. I can't help but laugh back. He then finally drifted off and then filled his nappy.... So I had to l change him. He is the lightest sleeper so there was no chance of keeping him asleep... He thought it was play time! Oh the joys :)

sleepisforthetired · 13/08/2014 11:18

Morning,

Swimming shorts - the "old umbro" style ones you get in sports direct are good. Cheap so you don't mind only wearing in the pool, and easy to swim with. This is what I wear all the time. They only come mid thigh, but the longer, the more awkward for swimming. The board shorts are not as comfortable for swimming lengths - although if its for water classes (aqua aerobics etc) then you wouldn't need as much movement in any event. If anyone queries it, or tries to tell you that you cant wear them "due to the filters" confirm you only use the shorts for pool swimming (so no contamination risk) , and what do the lifeguards wear for training as RLSS/NPLQ standards state shorts and t'shirts must be worn for the qualification, and therefore should be worn every month for the competency based training. (This is fact, I am a TA for NPLQ)

Consultant appointment was great (sarcasm)

Firstly, I disagreed with the registrar as he seemed a bit flippant (he just wanted to know whether I wanted a CS or not - and that is the least of my concerns).
As we were not making progress, he asked if I would mind explaining things to the consultant - who also seemed to not really get what the issue was.

I was a bit teary by this point, so not as "structured" in my explanations - but explained what I want, and that I knew this wasn't a possibility therefore I needed a "plan B" where they make sure everything is as well as should be.
I did lose it when consultant said "but he (DS) is fine, so why are you so worried" and I responded with "imagine how you would cope if your child stops child breathing and heart stops for no apparent reason and see how you feel after shall we? because this is the only way you will truly get it".
I then cried and apologised for the outburst, but extra support in the form of reassurance monitoring that the placenta is this time doing as it should is the only thing I can think of knowing my first choice (baby at 37+4) isn't a possibility without medical reason & that that (early delivery) may not be in the best interests of the child.

So in short - after 40 minutes with a registrar and consultant, we will have extra monitoring, but still not sure on delivery as just want what is best for baby, so really almost need someone to tell me what this is! Seeing clinic lead MW next week so can talk through pro's and cons with her, and hopefully start relaxing about the future, as it is putting a dampener on the "now".

deuscat · 13/08/2014 12:35

Sleep sorry to hear your consultant appointment was difficult. The extra monitoring will be good at least. I can imagine you're still very concerned though due to your previous experience.

Sunshine it's so exciting to feel the kicks develop from the bubbles! Mine has developed in exactly the same way, and the bubbles were originally very subtle. But yesterday in a meeting at work I was actually distracted by a little kick! So lovely!

Sorry for the ladies who are feeling tired. Early nights might help?

I feel good for going swimming yesterday even though it has been a few years and I'm not a confident swimmer. Planning to go a couple of times per week and also walks on the weekend to keep up the exercise. Sunshine I'm impressed you're still running. I'm too paranoid about overheating baby!

Saraswati · 13/08/2014 13:41

Scan was all good! Baby measured perfectly no problems detected :) it was moving so much as I had a chai latte beforehand! Got to see it swallowing and it's little tongue moving, it was amazing. She said I have an anterior placenta but I have felt lots of movement and it's not a problem anyway. To top it all off DH just felt it kick for the first time! Today is a good day :D

Aww sounds awesome sara!! Congrats!!!

My hormones are getting the better of me today. I'm ready to kill. 4pm can't come soon enough. I need to get out of here!

Aww that's such good news saraswati can't believe you could see all that detail! And your dh felt a kick - exciting times ahead!!!

I've just come back from a swim - I'm so unfit but I just went at my own pace- pleased that I got off the sofa
Little is better than nothing. It's the only exercise I like. Hoping to swim 3/4 times a week during the rest of the school holidays and then who knows
I keep waking up at. 2am every day - making me seriously cranky!

KateTheHuman · 13/08/2014 15:01

oh sleep completely missed that. Yeah i don't want knee length ones. Just half thigh will do. I'm too big though so none in my size in Sports Direct. Unless you're a man. Men seem to be able to get away with being bigger it seems. :)

ViviPru · 13/08/2014 15:42

Man I'm such a chump. I've been checking my 'threads I'm on' to see if there's any new posts in the bus and thinking it had all gone very quiet. DUH! NEW THREAD!

Sara we saw loads of swallowing and smacking of lips too - it's magical isn't it!

Sleep that sounds so frustrating, hope your midwife can bring you a bit more reassurance.

I started a yoga class last night. It's not ideal as it's half an hour there and half an hour back and I didn't get home till 10 but it was a lovely atmosphere and the instructor was great so I may keep it up.

I usually do pump on Wednesdays but I'm not sure I can face it and might sack it off for a swim instead.

Babysprout · 13/08/2014 16:21

Hey everyone!

I've had an interesting couple of days so I've been on but didn't want to post what was going on as I feared the worst... Good news is everything is ok and it wasn't the worst!

As you know I've had brown discharge for 3 weeks now and been for 2 extra scans but dh and I weren't worried as we knew it was all normal. Yesterday morning when I went to the loo I saw red blood- called the mwife straight away and was told the EPU would be in contact but to go to A & E if it got worse. It didn't get worse but bleeding continued all day and through the night. Obviously I went through a wave of emotions - DH was fantastic. Didn't sleep last night but rung EPU this morning to find out what was going on as still hadn't heard and they said they had called once yesterday and had got my answerphone so booked me in for an appointment tomorrow. This threw me over the edge as I had got through yesterday thinking I'd have answers today. We rund the m/wife again who said to go to A&E so I did and they were fantastic and got me in at the EPU. Turns out the mwife there was more than happy to see me today but receptionists were being officious. Anyway I cried like crazy when we saw little sprout with a healthy beating heart. They couldn't find any source of the bleed, placenta looks good and cervix is good. The mwife at EPU has given me her direct number to call if I need to. She said even if they have to scan once a week they will do it to make sure everything is ok.

I am so relieved- and just can't believe the rollercoaster of emotions we've been on. No one ever tells you this is what pregnancy is like. I'm hoping for a few days of calm.

Needless to say no exercise for me!! I was swimming and had a proramme done at the gym but am going to give it a rest. When I feel confident again I will definitely continue with swimming - it makes me feel normal!

ViviPru · 13/08/2014 16:39

Oh Sprout what an awful scare. I'm so glad to hear everything seems to be normal. Take it easy!

Madrigals my first choice is a bad idea (I know this and knew this prior to the appointment) so really, once they had confirmed the extra monitoring from 28 weeks, I was happier that something was being done to avoid problems. Just seems so drawn out. I know everything should be fine, but I just need the back up of the reassurance. I sat tight last time and really regret not questioning things more when I thought they weren't right - worrying I would be making a fuss. I know better this time. I would rather apologise everything is fine after monitoring than have a repeat of DS birth!
Hopefully after next week I will be certain on my "option A" birth plan so I can actually plan, rather than just worry! I think this is my biggest draw to CS - so I know a definite "worry till" date, but would also like to try VBAC - so really need to go through things with a professional (and then canvass opinions to see what makes most sense when fully informed!)

Sara sounds wonderful - glad everything went well :)

Sprout - glad everything is well. must have been horrible. Swimming is good later on - even just walking in the water as the water supports you etc. I agree taking it easy for as long as you need - till baby is here if that's when you feel ready! as you don't want any further worries. Swimming is only as strenuous as you want it to be, so from a physical therapy point of view it could be very good down the line when you are ready if you wanted to venture into the water again. Especially as a keen swimmer (from what I am reading in your post above) you should know what positions/styles work some areas more than others so can avoid the ones that stretch and "work" the abs/stomach.

KateTheHuman · 13/08/2014 19:05

I've given up on buying shorts for swimming. They look fecking awful! Gonna try swimdresses instead and hope they look better.:(

sleepisforthetired · 13/08/2014 20:39

I have done the compulsory vbac course. It was useful but I have quite specific worries So the 121s has been good as a start so hopeful the next one is the last - not being ungrateful but I just want things straight in my mind. Thank you for listening to my drivel - I will be back to normal positive self soon enough I hope!!
