Lovely scan news sunshine !

Babysprout · 18/08/2014 16:23

Lovely scan news sunshine and your birthing centre sounds great Smile hope you got the cream tea!

I felt sick today too after a break from mskate maybe it is Mondays!! Do you have to get up earlier? Hope you feel better soon.

RPopz · 18/08/2014 16:47

Great news Sunshine! Hooray for a girl Smile This is why I'm worried about us not finding out - I'm convinced its a boy so it'll be weird if it isn't haha Wink We got a thumbs up too!!! Isn't it funny!

rumisyum · 18/08/2014 21:01

Ugh, scan first thing tomorrow am and the scanxiety has set in. My brain is helpfully churning out all the fetal anomalies I've ever heard about. Thanks, brain! Hmm

CallingAllEngels · 18/08/2014 21:20

Congrats sunshine. All good here. Still officially team yellow but dh is convinced it's a boy!

SK28 · 18/08/2014 21:23

How exciting, all these scans and gender revelations! Ours is 2 weeks tomorrow and we haven't yet decided if we're finding out or not...

Bit anxious tonight, over the past few hours I've developed a bumpy and slightly itchy rash on my neck and under my chin. My sister had obstetric cholestasis last year so I immediately worried about that - it probably isn't because it's too early and it's usually hands and feet, but I'm still a bit concerned :( Hoping it'll go down overnight otherwise I might have to call midwife tomorrow to set my mind at rest.

blizy · 18/08/2014 21:35

Good luck for the scan rum.
Sk28, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but no harm in checking.

I've just stormed off to bed in a silent rage all because dh is watching football but listening to music with his headphones on too. It means I can't watch tv or talk (gibberish) to him. Bloody hormones.
I have my 16 week midwife appointment on wed, stupidly nervous about not hearing the heartbeat, too many shitty memories will be brought to,the surface.

sunshineandbiscuits · 18/08/2014 22:03

Thank you to everyone for your lovely messages. rum keeping fx for you tomorrow, sure everything will be fine. Calling glad to hear that all went well for you too.

vivi we had IUI at our local NHS-linked fertility clinic (we were private patients), who were awesome. We got pregnant on our second round, but the clinic said that this was pretty good going and anything up to 4 or 5 cycles would be fine (just like anyone ttc naturally). We do like the idea of DW carrying a second child, but don't want to make a firm decision yet as it will depend a bit on various factors, including how this pregnancy goes! Ditto with the donor. We haven't gone with exclusivity or anything like that, but we still have some, ahem, what DMiL refers to as "ingredients" in deep freeze, which we can use for the next time.

Good luck to your friends, it's always nice to hear of other people in a similar situation to us! We never cease to be amazed and delighted at how much more common and normal same-sex parenting has become in the last few years.

We've attached the thumbs-up from our DD (haven't got used to saying that yet...), we think it's the cutest thing in the entire world, but then we would, wouldn't we?

Omg sunshine, that wee thumb is indeed the cutest thing ever, amazing!

cheshirem2b · 18/08/2014 22:18

Sunshine that picture is brilliant and congrats on your little girl. Very exciting.
Peeps with scans tomorrow... Deep breath... All will be well!
I'm getting scanxious now... Scan on Thursday!

Still on holiday in Cornwall and it's lovely! 2 more sleeps until home time! :-(

deuscat · 18/08/2014 22:22

Awe what wonderful scan news sunshine and looking.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow rum.

SK28 no harm in ringing midwife for reassurance.

One week till my scan. Can't wait! We won't be finding out the sex though.

Over the weekend I spent 2 hours sorting my wardrobe. Tried it all on and put away in the loft things that no longer fit (most of it!) and shoved in all my maternity clothes (lots of gifted clothes!). It feel so weird every time I look in my wardrobe. Like my whole identity is changing. Guess I'll get used to it when I go from being deuscat to Mummy!

Roserouge · 18/08/2014 22:27

Hi everyone, would you mind another?
I'm a bit behind everyone at 16 weeks but I see blizy you have your 16 week appointment wed, mine is tomorrow Smile
I've been feeling a light tapping the last few days and I'm wondering if its baby, very exciting!

ViviPru · 18/08/2014 22:57

Hi RoseRouge, welcome! Wow I can't believe we're still picking up passengers on our bus! Must be standing room only by now?!

Sunshine The thumbs up is amazing! And thank you so much for sharing, that's so interesting. And reassuring to know it could take up to 5 cycles. I think couple 2 assumed couple 1's good fortune in conceiving first time both times meant their frustrating outcomes were some kind of anomaly - Sure they were told the stats but I think at the LWC they promote an impression that the success rate is very high, so they've been feeling a bit blue.

Yy to same-sex parenting becoming more commonplace. Saturday's barbecue was by no means some unconventional gathering, just a bunch of regular thirtysomethings in a Kent suburb. I'm friends with 3 same sex couples at various stages of building a family, and while I've a broad variety of friends, I wouldn't say I move in especially unconventional circles.

Deus I've got the joy of wardrobe sorting earmarked for this weekend. It's well overdue. What a way to spend a bank holiday!

SK28 that sounds rotten - hope it clears up soon!

SK28 · 18/08/2014 22:57

I just did the same thing Deus and had a wardrobe-sorting weekend. It's so much emptier now and easier to choose from!

ViviPru · 18/08/2014 23:00

Hmm what I was clumsily trying to say above is I've observed that same-sex parenting is becoming no longer unconventional!

How terrible that she was wrongly told there was a brain defect?!!
When did they tell her that it was an error? Your poor sis.

Good luck for your scan xxx

Saraswati · 19/08/2014 06:57

Good luck for scans today ladies!

I spoke too soon about my sickness easing, felt awful last night, threw up my dinner and went to bed early. Feel a bit perkier today. I have my consultants appointment tomorrow so I'm hoping I only have to have the one and they will sign me off for the mlu.

Fx mads .

We have painters in this week for outside which means getting up early during my last week of holiday and lots of interruptions. Waiting for ds to finish his brekkie so I can get him to childcare. He's eating slowly on purpose!

blizy · 19/08/2014 07:25

Good luck for all the scans today.

Rose yeah I'm 16 +5 today, I feel way behind everyone else too. Good luck with your appointment today.

Minibagel · 19/08/2014 09:07

That thumbs up photo is the best thing ever sunshine! Congratulations to you and your DW :)

Minibagel · 19/08/2014 09:09

I woke up this morning convinced by bump had gone. I think Mini was just in a different position as it looks and feels 'normal' to me again. Phew. I was probably still half asleep or something.

Good luck for the scans today. Looking forward to lots of lovely news later.

DS is already driving me crazy today. We have to wait in for a delivery and they haven't phoned to tell me when they're coming like they were supposed to. He goes crazy when we have to stay in and it's only half 9! I'm in for a long day.
