henrietta the others are right, don't feel silly for being worried (I'm a worrier and I know how it feels) but your weight gain sounds OK. Mine only seems to have started going up noticeably in the second trimester (it's meant to faster then) and I'm sure everyone varies a bit.

Oh, I think you might be in the scan now! I hope it's gone OK.

On the consultant, I can sympathise with being shy to say you want a different one. I haven't met mine yet, but I feel similarly with my midwife. Not very keen on her (and dubious about some of her advice) but I don't want to kick up a fuss. Maybe others will at least be open to you wanting an ELCS, even if you have other issues with them?

HenriettaTurkey · 09/09/2014 14:27

Thank you all! Well, I did it. Saw PALS and mentioned my issues. The look the woman gave me when I told her what he'd said made me feel better!

Scan was lovely: a healthy bouncing baby boy! I'm thrilled; DH is grieving for the daughter he'll never have...it's a tough one.

I had more drama this morning as during breakfast my upper back 'pinged' unexpectedly. It was excruciating, and I was in so much pain my bp dropped & I was very close to fainting. DH had to put me to the floor so I wouldn't fall off my chair. Then it passed, but I developed a migraine from it...

All ok now - but my back is still feeling it. I wonder if it's a pulled muscle.

Still, life wouldn't be the same drama free!

Thank you all again...you're all fab. Xx

So glad it all went well, Henrietta. I'm also feeling much better than this morning - DH came back from his conference and we scoured the house and found the diamond from my engagement ring in the sheets of our bed! Really cross - it's only 15 months old, surely it shouldn't be dropping it's diamonds already (wasn't loose to touch, didn't catch on anything) - DH is going to complain when he takes it to be re-set and hope they at least do it for free.

HenriettaTurkey · 09/09/2014 22:56

Yay!!!!! You found your diamonds!!!

Pesto11 · 10/09/2014 04:25

So pleased you found the diamonds! Smile

cheshirem2b · 10/09/2014 08:28

hurray at finding the diamond. I would complain and moan about that... not very good.

Well I woke up at 3am with a ridiculous pain at my lower left side of my bump and the pain shot down my leg. It lasted until I got out of bed and walked around a bit so I presume baby was wriggling on a nerve. Will call my mw later just for reassurance but s/he is wriggling around again so is happy in there.

Also just weighed myself and after losing 5lb at the start of pg I'm now back to my starting weight plus 1lb so not too bad! I feel much heavier than that though! Got to watch the scales now as due to bmi I can't gain too much weight!

Loobyloo893 · 10/09/2014 08:45

Glad you found diamond. I'd definitely complain.

Cheshire, hope ur ok and the mw can reassure you.

I had a rubbish nights sleep again! Going to take DS to playgroup so he can run around and amuse himself and i can sit and drink tea Smile

Any scans today?

22weeks

halfdoneharris · 10/09/2014 08:49

Yeay thank goodness you found the diamond and definitely complain as 15month is not long enough for it to be loose due to wear and tear.
All is good here, my bump is quite big as 2nd time round but I think I had quite a big bump last time too (all out front but you couldn't tell from behind). Quite helpful to have a bump when commuting on the underground but generally I'm happy to stand if I only go a couple of stops.
We haven't bought anything for the new baby yet - any other 2nd timers just keep forgetting there will be a baby arriving in a few months?

Good morning everyone! Just caught up! I lost a diamond out of my engagement ring about two years ago (after 4 years of use) and it's been sitting in a cupboard ever since. :( The shop DH got it from has shut so we'll have to fork out for another diamond. We'll get around to it at some point....i hope.

KateTheHuman · 10/09/2014 09:36

In other pointlessness, does anyone want to guess gender of bub? I don't know if I asked before and can't find my scan post on here. Haha. I was all excited to get a profile shot of baby to get gender guesses then completely forgot to ask!

KateTheHuman · 10/09/2014 10:09

Welcome back Rpopz! Hope you had a great time! Good luck with the scan! :)

EmmaJan2015 · 10/09/2014 12:21

Just popping in quick to say scan done and everything fine Smile. We're having a girl Grin. The sonographer had to wake her up as she was too busy sleeping and sucking her thumb!!! So cute.

Off for the anti D injection shortly.

Hope everyone is well. Great news on finding the diamond!

HenriettaTurkey · 10/09/2014 16:37

How lovely, Emma - many congratulations!

cheshirem2b · 10/09/2014 16:46

Welcome back Rpopz!

Emma, congrats on your little girl. Sounds like a lovely scan!

I spoke to my friend who is a mw (rather than bothering my mw) and she said that it sounds like baby was squashing a nerve and not to worry as it passed once baby moved out of the way. Phew!

Dec2013mummy · 10/09/2014 18:33

Hello all Smile sorry I haven't posted in a while, work is so crazy, mum collapsed at work on Monday and we are supposed to be moving at some point next week, so life is rather busy.
Glad you found your diamonds, I lost my ring a few weeks back and had a minor meltdown Grin
Glad to hear of all other scan news. It's getting so much closer!!

SK28 · 10/09/2014 22:51

Glad it's not just me who's lost rings and diamonds - I am usually so paranoid and always checking my rings, I felt awful I'd let it happen :( But all's well that ends well!

Feeling extremely heavy today... Been at a conference today seeing lots of work acquaintances and friends for first time in pregnancy so there was much bump-touching! But think the conf has taken its toll, I'm shattered - bedtime!

21+3 (had a minor heart attack when midwife told me my due date was 1 Jan today, making me 23+0 - she misread my notes!)

KateTheHuman · 11/09/2014 07:10

Yay 24 weeks!!! high fives other new year peeps

24+0

blizy · 11/09/2014 07:20

High fives Kate.

Yay for 20 weeks today!

I seem to be suffering from night terrors the past week or so, I wake screaming and shouting. Last night I dreamed there was a giant insect at the bottom of my bed, I woke screaming and scrambling away. I don't really get back to sleep afterwards and I'm just exhausted. I normally have pretty weird dreams but this is something else.

KateTheHuman · 11/09/2014 07:34

Yay halfway blizy!

cheshirem2b · 11/09/2014 10:03

high five kate!!! 24+0 here as well! 11 working weeks after this week until I start 2 weeks annual leave and then maternity leave! Woohoo!
