Hi all,

Good luck with the scan SK.

Finally got around to booking our NCT course today. The last evening session is on my birthday. An excellent example of how life is going to change! No fancy meal out with lots of wine or boozy night out with friends for my birthday this year Grin

I've got a meeting with my HR bod in a week or two to ask him any q's about maternity leave/pay etc. In the meantime, can anyone give me any advice on things like child benefit please? Is that the one that's not means based, i.e everyone is entitled to it?? Do you have to apply for that or is it provided automatically through your pay/NI or anything like that? Sorry, I feel a bit clueless on all this stuff!

I was also thinking of booking me and OH on a baby first aid course at some point. Has anyone else looked into this or done one in the past?

Aaaaah! How do you delete a multiple post??!

RPopz · 02/09/2014 14:42

Wowsers Saras - you're having a time and a half of it aren't you! Think I've gone from a C to a D cup... am still fitting in my old bras but with some overspill haha... not a good look. Should prob rectify the situation when I get home!

Have packed a couple of bikinis for holiday which still fit but didn't feel mega comfortable in them tbh which is why I bought the maternity tankini.

cheshirem2b · 02/09/2014 16:22

Emma You can go to the gov.uk website to read up on Child Benefit. I think everyone gets it unless your income exceeds £60k or something like that. Its paid at around £20/wk for first child and extra for more. Snag... you cannot apply until after baby is born!

Loobyloo893 · 02/09/2014 16:25

Emma, child benefit is the one everyone is entitled to. You will get a form to fill in along with info about registering the birth before u leave the hospital. I think if you fill it in within three months of the birth the will backdate it from the day baby was born x

EmmaJan2015 · 02/09/2014 18:34

Thanks Cheshire and Looby Smile

Is anyone getting any new cravings? I haven't had many but this week I cant get enough of roast beef, rocket, piccalilly and crisp sandwiches. My goodness they are addictive!

Hi everyone

Long time no post. Been very busy. Catching up today and it's nice to see lots of scans.

Kate is your toothache better now?

I'm also having the GTT but this is due to my ethnicity being classed as a risk factor. Bit annoying really because I'll be in hospital for almost an entire morning for it on my own!

I feel the baby move and kick lots now but DH still hasn't felt it. He just tried as baby was kicking but it stopped as soon as he put his hand on the bump!

Me too deus with the GTT. Can't wait! Toothache has gone but it still occasionally feels niggly like it's gonna come back. I bet I'm gonna have to have it taken out. :-(

I'll be sat in hospital for 2 hours on my own as well I think. I was going to go to work (10 mins drive away) but apparently they like you to stay on hospital grounds! boring!

I'm also having gtt as my dad has diabetes. I had it last time and whilst downing a bottle of lucozade at 7 in the morning wasn't pleasant it was fine and I got the all clear. Hopefully dc2 will give me an equally easy ride.
Getting loads of kicks now and DH has been feeling them over the last few days. I don't think he is as excited as some of the expecting dads but he was the same last time and only really went into daddy mode once our daughter was born. I guess it doesn't feel real to them if they are not physically doing the pregnancy. I've now sorted out mat leave and my last day will be 5th December! Eek only 3 months til then!

cheshirem2b · 03/09/2014 09:18

I am due to start mat leave on 15/12 but also have annual leave to take before that so hoping I actually finish work on 1/12! Woohoo!

sleepisforthetired · 03/09/2014 09:31

Morning All :)

I actually slept last night so feel so much better for it :) We are off on family holiday this weekend, very much looking forwards to that so spending my "office admin day" making holiday list so DP can pack.

We will be telling DS whilst we are aware he is going to be a brother which I am actually really excited about :)

Emma - if you want to do it, I would definitely say go ahead with booking the paediatric first aid course. Some of the SureStart centres run these

I hadn't renewed my qualification in about 4 years before DS was born, but still knew everything the one time it was needed - so anyone debating if they are worth it, I would say "yes" if you are thinking about it, and then cross your fingers and toes you never need to use anything you learn :)

In less positive news looks like my cushy deal for DS care is going to have to change, but a problem for later. today I shall enjoy being able to function like a real human and not the zombie I had become!

KateTheHuman · 03/09/2014 10:56

Can't. Stop. Eating.

Burger King is 6 minutes away. Uh oh!!

cheshirem2b · 03/09/2014 11:12

Kate I think our bumps are having a growth spurt... I am starving today! Had cereal for breakfast and just had an apple and tangerine and I am hungry again! I have to go to collect something from the post office at lunch and I pass a McDonalds drive-thru... oh the temptation!

deuscat · 03/09/2014 12:45

I also have the odd random day where I'm starving! Must be baby growth spurts!

My engagement and wedding rings are getting uncomfortable right. Think I'll have to remove them now Hmm

Starving day over here too, I've grown so much in the last couple of weeks I feel enormous!

Aquanatal was good last night, nice warm pool and friendly ladies. One of the women there was 40 weeks! Nice to know I'll still be able to move by then :)

I'm leaving my job on 1st december (I work on contract so don't get maternity leave). I've got to apply for my maternity allowance in the next couple of weeks, lots of forms to fill in, sigh. But only 3 months of work left then I'm planning on having at least 1 or 2 years off which I am very excited about!

So I'm lying on my side on the sofa and have my hand pressed on my bump near my hip. I keep feeling muscle twitches or spasms. Could this be baby? It's making me giggle hee

Pesto11 · 03/09/2014 22:18

Baby tickles make me giggle too
Feel like she's saying hello!

I'm sorting out mat leave dates now.
Told boss that I can work till dec 18th (on the 19th I'll be 38 weeks!) hoping I can still waddle about then!

wow I missed a lot! Haven't thought too far ahead on sleeping arrangements yet.. Have a moses basket so far and that's about it. DH and I are currently trying to decide on pram-type shizz, we have learnt a lot in the last few days!! I think I remember MW saying I would be getting the glucose test thingy around 28 weeks but no appointment through yet.

Hello to the new peeps...on my catch up I saw a few people asking about the FB group....I can't remember who the admins are but if you send a message to "Jan Babies" on facebook with your MN name they will add you.

Hooray for all the wriggly babies out there! Now I think it

ilovelamp78 · 03/09/2014 22:25

...........dammit that always happens!.....

...is time for bed. Eyeballs are sore from googling prams all evening!

deuscat · 03/09/2014 22:30

Engagement and wedding rings are off and in their boxes. Left a dent in my finger. I feel naked without them Sad

deuscat · 03/09/2014 22:32

lamp which prams are you eyeing up? I need to get to the shops to see if my favoured pram fits in my car boot. We (read: I) want the silvercross pioneer.

KateTheHuman · 04/09/2014 08:03

Oh yay! I hope it was baby. I didn't think I'd feel anything luke that yet. Especially from the outside. Only started feeling anything last week!

23 weeks today!!

KateTheHuman · 04/09/2014 08:04

dues that's the pram I want too! So worried it won't fit in my boot!! What colour do you want? :-)
