Hi Ladies - I had my 20 week scan today and all was good. Baby was well behaved so could do all the measurements but we decided not to find out the sex. I swear I saw boy bits but DH is adament that there were no boy bits (and I was seeing the umbilical cord) and so is convinced baby is a girl. Either way one of us will be right! Exciting times.
I think I will start mat leave on the 5th December as will be having an elcs on the 29th Dec and that will give me a couple of weeks before Christmas to chill and spend some time with DD.
Hello to all the newbies x

oops posted twice - sorry x

Good for you listening to your body Saras. That's not skiving in my book. Hope you feel better soon.

Where'd you get the deal on the snuzpod Cheshire?

Don't you have to see the GP at 25 weeks if you're a 1st timer anyway sleep? That seems to be the schedule of appts I was told to make. I've got to give my HR my Mat1B form by 25 weeks pregnant, so I might cheat & make my GP appt for 24 weeks so I can get the paperwork done. I'm pretty sure all they do is check your pee, BP, measure your bump with tape, and maybe doppler baby's HB. How funny of the receptionist!

Emma I'd be pretty cross if a) someone randomly grabbed my belly and then b) blabbed my news without my permission! And I hope your TTC friends can show you that they're happy & excited for you. That's such a tough situation.

Hurrah for the happy scan Halfdone!

sleepisforthetired · 26/08/2014 16:29

cheshirem2b You need to notify work by end of 25th week and given I have used the systems rules to my maximum advantage, I need to make sure there is no room for 2nd employer arguing they don't need to pay SMP. I plan to provide form at same time as notifying them in writing via email so record.

This is baby no. 2 for me rum, so they don't need (or possibly want!) to see me till 28 weeks. I should have asked at one of the other appointments as scan was only last week - but had clinical lead (one who thinks I have PTSD) MW appt 2 days later so could have got one then if I had put my brain in gear!

I thought it was a bit funny (as in made me smile) wondering if receptionist thought GP was going to have a little peer up there to look if really a baby (as in LOOK up there) because at best the midwife only has a poke around with belly only exposed.

It probably just a procedural thing they have to ask but the noise like a gasp made me wonder what she was thinking :)

RPopz · 26/08/2014 18:20

Sleep I am in same boat!! They say you can have the matB1 at 20 weeks but I haven't seen midwife since 16 weeks and won't see her now til 24 weeks! A friend of mine said I could get it from GP but the surgery receptionist denied all knowledge... didn't realise I had to apply for mat leave by 25th week... erk.

Hope you're feeling better Saras - I've been feeling very "womby" and crampy and heavy today!

Dec2013mummy · 26/08/2014 19:52

Hi all, so glad to hear lots of exciting scan news Grin
sara I agree with others... Look after number 1.
I had to ring my go last time to get the matb1 form and just had a phone consultation for it.
I am getting a little worried as have had awful cramps on and off for 24 hrs (although I had awful diarrhoea yesterday tmi sorry). I then almost blacked out, had to sit in the floor, shit my eyes and drink water, today when out. I'm currently in bed feeling rough and I just don't know how much to worry. I was so poorly last pregnancy that I don't really know when to worry and when it's just normal iyswim!!

RPopz · 26/08/2014 20:01

Something you've eaten or a bug maybe? Sounds like you're dehydrated. Take it easy and keep the fluids up xx

cheshirem2b · 26/08/2014 21:11

Dec I hope you're ok. Lots of fluid for you and see the gp if you still feel poorly tomorrow.

Saras we got the snuzpod from natural baby shower (think that's what they are called) as they had extra 10% off on first orders. We ordered it yesterday and it's already been dispatched! yay!

Pesto11 · 27/08/2014 07:06

Maybe call the docs or midwife if you still feel crampy today dec
Hope you're feeling better today saras
Yay on the scan news from yesterday halfdoneharris

Dh and I had an argument about his family and him always bailing them put financially emotionally etc etc
They haven't asked about me once! Yet ask for money ask for him to do this that and the other
Really wound me up yesterday so while sitting down having a full on tantrum I said well my baby can have the most expensive pushchair and the most expensive everything then! Started to research the Aston Martin buggy!!! Made us smile at least!

KateTheHuman · 27/08/2014 07:42

I think I felt my first proper movement last night. I was lying on my side and kind of wobbling my bump from the side asking baby to wake up haha as you do, and suddenly there was this weird...dropping feeling. Like when you go over a steep bridge in a car really fast. I don't know how to explain it. Like...something in my tummy rolled. I really hope this was baby and not some rare disorder haha. 21+6 today! I'm due a bit of movement! ??Grin

KateTheHuman · 27/08/2014 07:43

In other news my abscess is still being painful. Hopefully drugs work soon. I don't like taking drugs when I have baby in me but the pain is just too too much.

Loobyloo893 · 27/08/2014 07:43

Argh! Scan day today! Not til 3pm so a long day ahead. Been really scared but now the day is here I'm starting to feel a little excitement creeping in too Smile

20weeks today (Half way there!)

cheshirem2b · 27/08/2014 07:56

Good luck with the scan today Looby!

I survived day one back at work yesterday and was told the argument I had with the boss before I went on hols helped as she's been doing work! phew!
Really struggling to get going this morning though. feeling tired, bit achey etc but will go to work and see how it goes. Got in from work yesterday and needed a nap! haha!

better get moving I suppose!

EmmaJan2015 · 27/08/2014 08:05

Good luck Looby

That's exciting Kate! I'm 18 weeks today and haven't felt anything major yet. Just the odd bubbling or popping feeling.

Take it easy Cheshire

KateTheHuman · 27/08/2014 08:09

Good luck looby!!!!

Saraswati · 27/08/2014 08:20

Good luck looby great news from yesterday harris

Think I've got some sort of bug, upset tummy and still feeling fainty, DH is feeling green too which makes me think a bug rather than a pregnancy thing. I'm having another sofa day to shake it off as I've already vommed 3 times this morning :s sipping on coconut water to keep the old electrolytes up, Youd think I'd have done my life's quota of puking by now!

Jesus has ramped up his movements in the last few days, I'm getting kicked all day, some of them really take me by surprise! It's a great feeling apart from the cervix and bladder kicks. I get most of them on the right hand side and have had a bit of a trapped nerve in my back on that side for a week or so, I think he's kicked me so much he's bloody trapped it!

Going to investigate whether I can specify a snuzpod delivery date today and get that ordered if I can :D

Camsie30 · 27/08/2014 09:08

Twenty weeks today!! Half way... Gulp. Little bean is doing a merry dance in there, weirdly the minute I get in the car it's wriggly... Thankfully not at night though, am hoping that will bode well for the future. Scan tomorrow, hurray!
Big love to you all and your bumps xx

sleepisforthetired · 27/08/2014 09:26

MATERNITY LEAVE
Sorry if I have caused any confusion - but just to clarify:

You need to give your employer notice of the date you intend to start your maternity leave and pay by the end of the 15th week before the baby is due (approx. week 25 of pregnancy). You must also give your employer your MATB1 maternity certificate to claim SMP.

website confirming dates

Enter your due date and assumed date you want to go off from and it confirms the latest date you have to tell your employer.

You can change the date you start your maternity leave, as long as you give 28 days' notice (minimum).

Once your employer has received your notice that you want to take maternity leave, they must write to you within 28 days and tell you the date your maternity leave runs out and therefore the date when you are expected to return to work from maternity leave.

Let me know if I have confused anyone further!

I have two jobs - so whilst one has know pretty much since conception the other I have not disclosed the pregnancy as yet to avoid any issues. I will be telling them soon, just need the last of my qualifying pay to go through! :)

KateTheHuman · 27/08/2014 10:57

Sara Hopefully it isn't the norovirus. All of my hubby's family have got it in the past week so I'm keeping well away!

sleepisforthetired · 27/08/2014 13:41

Dec2013 - just me worried about your shitting eyes?

Hope those with a bug are feeling better by now - and hopefully excitement has pushed any nerves out the way for 3pm looby

Dec2013mummy · 27/08/2014 14:52

Ha sleep I hadn't even noticed Grin that's made me smile. Good lunch with the scan looby.
Can't believe we are over half way through. My friend has just said to me that Christmas is only just around the corner really and it made me realise how quickly the last 20 odd weeks have gone and so how fast baby will come around!!
Thanks for everyone's kind words. Still feeling rubbish, went to the doctors who said my bloody pressure is spiking but everything else seems fine so will just keep an eye! Good news I suppose but these cramps are worrying at times.

Dec2013mummy · 27/08/2014 14:53

That was supposed to be good luck not lunch!! I really need to check for typos don't I?!
