I'm desperate for vegetables but all we've got in the house is celery and peppers. I feel like crying. I got paid less than two weeks ago and I've already used up my overdraft. How the hell will I afford this baby? I've got plenty of little things like babygrows and things I've knitted, but I can't afford furniture on my own, and DH is seemingly uninterested in talking about or looking at cots and prams etc. He keeps telling me to save my money for the pram, but I only get paid £600 a month as it is. Waaah.

Excuse my wobble :(

SilverLinings2014 · 13/08/2014 18:55

peace get on ebay. There are some bargains to be had, esp in the pram department. We're renovating our house at the mo and cannot afford to be all pfb about things. Picked up a gorgeous mamas and papas changing station/chest of draws for 30 quid. Am obsessively looking at prams atm but not sure what I actually want yet, need to test drive a few first.

Been woken up at 5am every day this week with a savage pain in my left hip from where I've slept on it...Oh how I miss sleeping on my back! Painful enough that I can't get back to sleep but it does ease once I'm up and about. Apart from more pillows (already cocooned in 5) does anyone know what I can do to ease it?

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/08/2014 20:20

DH took me to Sainsburys when he got in and I bought squash, potatoes, red cabbage, red onion, carrots, and a whole load of other lovely vegetables, so I feel marginally better now.

Saw a kick on my belly in a meeting today. Had to struggle not to get the giggles. Work was rubbish as well so it was a lovely moment in a sea of shit Smile

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 13/08/2014 20:47

Peace I second ebay. Lots of bargains. Also, maybe we could set up some sort of swap system within this group if we end up with doubles of stuff....

I picked up a moses basket and blankets from a facebook group very cheaply

Ikea does a good fairly cheap cot, and the highchair for £16 is fine.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/08/2014 20:47

I've been an emotional twat all day so the vegetable meltdown was only to be expected!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 13/08/2014 21:09

It's not emotional twattery, its just emotion. Don't worry.

To be fair, celery would make me cry too!

Chipandspuds · 13/08/2014 22:42

Peace I definitely recommend having a look at your local Facebook selling site, I have a local one that's purely for buying/selling baby & toddler stuff and it's great! eBay is also a good place to have a look for stuff too! People will most likely buy clothes for the new baby too :)

SassehMonsta · 13/08/2014 23:28

After 2 trips out with the pram, I can say I hate it!!! Not fit fir the sort of walking I do. Couldnt cope with the flattest & most wheelchair frirndly of our walks, I cant steeer with one hand, and.it doesnt fokd small ebough. Grateful that it was fre, but will be.buying a new one. Arrgh!

DrewsWife · 13/08/2014 23:48

Car boot sales. We got loads! We can't afford too much. If we can hubby certainly isn't telling me. Wink

I got new jammies today after an epic melt down about wearing my pre pregnancy ones. Couldn't get them past my hips and my mat ones were in the wash.

He bought me size 20-22 and they are brilliant. Tesco jammies rock!!! £6

CatFaceCrayola · 14/08/2014 00:38

My friend has invited me to go for a walk along the canal to a nice cafe tomorrow. She says It's a half hour walk each way. I am finding utterly crap that I'm having to even consider whether I'll be able to cope with a half hour walk!!

Just been forced into the bath as my back and hips were hurting after shopping with friends today. Feel better but still got the paracetamol ready next to the bed

Somersetgirl1990 · 14/08/2014 04:09

Hope everyone's having a comfortable night!

Just been up for my gazzillionth pee break of the night. So tired that I just walked to the bathroom with my eyes shut Confused

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 14/08/2014 04:24

I'm VERY AWAKE! So annoying as I have a long day at work tomorrow. Problem is I am not only awake but starving but if I get up and eat I have no chance of getting back to sleep!!

Ladylel · 14/08/2014 04:34

4:30am. Just had a fight with my engagement ring. About to have another with my wedding ring. Banana fingers of what. They are actually throbbing :(

Sasseh we got an iCandy Peach jogger for that reason. It's great off road and as a three wheeler with a lockable front wheel, easier to push one handed too. Drawbacks are that it is quite heavy and won't fold flat but we've loved it. My mate has a City jogger that she really rates but I don't know what they are like off road. Btw, if any ladies do decide to go the iCandy route and buy new, order it soon as there can be a big wait as demand often outstrips supply.

SassehMonsta · 14/08/2014 07:55

Apologies for horrendus typing last night, was in bed on my phone with no glasses on!!

I'd like the 3-wheeled Mothercare Xpeditor. It folds briliantly, the.wheels come off simply (mud!), its adjustable height, and it seems to have decent suspension. Plus, its only 200 pounds if you dont buy a colourful version (which is 50quid more). That includes the carseat, pram and pushchair.

Ho hum, will have to decide sooner or later. Might force DH to come out & push pram on a walk to make a point!

Anyone trying to grow their nails? Im a chronic nailbiter and have been forever, but as they are faster growing in pregnancy I figured Id give it a shot.

Totally addicted to c hocolate porridge now..

22+5.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 14/08/2014 08:09

Sasseh I think thats the one I am going to go for, in apple.

I'm feeling a bit left out of all the exciting shopping sprees as we already have practically everything from DS. And I love shopping! We have a Bugaboo Cameleon but think I will buy new coloured fabrics for it to make it sort of "new" for the new baby - but now won't know what colour to order until the baby arrives. We spent months deliberating over whether to find out the sex or not, finally decided to find out and then the baby wouldn't cooperate in the 20 week scan- argh! We opted for a surprise last time but thought it would be handy to know this time round - so as to know what boys clothes to keep or get rid of! And also to prepare 3 year old DS as he is adamant it is a boy- he does not want a sister!

CatFaceCrayola · 14/08/2014 09:28

sasseh we're also wanting the 3 wheel Xpedior (in plum or red ideally). Parents have said they'll buy it for us, but I think it will actually be the only brand new, shop bought thing we'll have. Been searching ebay, gumtree etc but they're All 4 wheelers (which steer awfully!!)

I've not had a great nights sleep. DH came rushing in at about 4am as apparently I was making "in pain/distressed" noises. Probably down to being so flamin' uncomfortable! bighairy I was also starving whenever I woke, didn't dare go off in search of food though.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/08/2014 09:29

Lordy lord, the charity I work for is staging a publicity stunt in London this morning to highlight the Gaza blockade, and they've sent us out information to help us answer any difficult questions from the public.
It's gonna be stressy.

SassehMonsta · 14/08/2014 10:17

Its also going to be the only brand new thing bought (with the exception of clothes, which a few bits have been bought for us already, and bottles which I purchased new). I hope I can convince the husband!

Missjasper · 14/08/2014 10:37

Hi everyone! I agree with monkeybaby2 we've ordered the icandy peach and the delivery through John Lewis is expected at the end of sept beginning of oct so I'm glad we pre-planned! So just incase you were considering, get the orders in quick! We were looking at the peach jogger but it can't be changed to a double buggy due to balance issues with the single front tyre so we went for the peach 3 instead. This is only our 1st but hubby thinks we can pop out at least 3-4 kiddywinks, but he doesn't have to do it and works away most of the time so I'm putting my foot down at 2 maximum! I've only got two hands so I figure that's more than enough!!
Rather addicted to ebay too! But for maternity clothes, got some proper bargains! Great maternity makes like Isabella Oliver and jojo at fractions of the price so fab quality and the hubby can't moan coz I'm actually saving money!!

isambardo · 14/08/2014 11:42

Hi ladies,
Been away for three weeks and you are halfway through a new thread! Our trip to Spain was lovely but not so relaxing as it used to be, now we have a toddler to entertain - no reading by the pool anymore, but we did all manage a siesta every day :)
I don't know if you are still popping on here Miraculous, I am so sorry to hear your news, I thought of you regularly whilst on my hols, hoping everything was okay.
I've skimmed through the thread, nice to see all the bump pics! Slightly jealous of everyone buying new baby stuff, we have most things we need and they were all second or third hand. Defo recommend Ebay for prams, we got a cheap Phil and Teds which has served us well and will take both toddler and new baby. Car boots/jumble sales are great but always seem to have far more girls clothes than boys. Also local facebook buy/sell groups - you can put requests on those if you are looking for something specific.
Only new thing I will be buying is an Ergo carrier, we had a moby wrap (brilliant for when they are little in winter, I loved it) and a baby bjorn (killed my back) last time, so I'm upgrading to a posh carrier which should last.
I had a scan this morning to check baby's growth as ds's growth tailed off in the last month of pregnancy, they think now the placenta was probably failing. Its unlikely to happen again, but we will get scans every 4 weeks just to check. We didn't find out the sex so I'll be tempted to ask every time now :). Turns out the baby is estimated to be 1lb 8oz.
Well done to those managing to eat healthily. I have just eaten half a pack of Jaffas and feel like vomming.

Sorry for yapping!

24+1
