At what point should you be concerned about swelling ? My feet have just blown up. My left foot particularly up to my calf is almost tender. Like I've been sat on it. Ankle feels like I've twisted it.

Lady elevate your feet. And give midwife a call for reassurance. Xx

PolytheneGirl · 12/08/2014 17:05

I've had swollen feet and ankles on and off for a month. I'm living in flip flops!

I'm off to see my GP tomorrow because over a week ago I stretched my legs in bed and my right knee clicked, it clicks and is very painful every time i bend or straighten it and I can no longer get up with any kind of ease.

I feel like I'm falling apart and I've suddenly had a huge growth spurt. I can't sleep well and I am completely incapable of rolling over in bed because of my bump and bad knee.

SIL had her baby on Friday who is now in special care.

I'm feeling a bit down and hormonal today. Just want to go to bed and have a big cry.

CatFaceCrayola · 12/08/2014 18:42

I'm also not having a great day today. Must be something in the air.
feeling rather sad and overwhelmed by everything. Been trying to keep busy, went for a brew with some old friends (who all have kids) and it has left me feeling very "I can't do this!"
One of them handed me her baby to hold while she did something and it just felt so unnatural and awkward and wrong. I had no idea how to deal with a baby for 5 min...how will I cope with my own!?

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 12/08/2014 19:04

When you have your own you wont worry about breaking someone elses baby! I've been told its different when its ypurs and I hope its true otherwise I am fucked.

Today was as difficult and crazy as I thought it was going to be. Just have to think.... two weeks.... two weeks and I am.on holiday.

CatFaceCrayola · 12/08/2014 19:12

Just have to worry about breaking my own baby!

SilverLinings2014 · 12/08/2014 19:33

Tough day here today too. 1.5 hour commute each way to work, delayed trains caused by overrunning engineering works, was asked to take on dumped with a new, complex project at work...er, don't you realise I only have 10 weeks left and zero chance of delivering it in that time? Hmm

And my upper back is really aching. Wouldn't mind if I were actually getting bigger boobs finally but no, they are stubbornly staying small! Think the weight of bump is causing it and fear it will continue and worsen throughout.

Glad I'm not the only one worried about looking after a baby. I'm totally clueless and OH is worse...he's never even held a baby. Maybe I should rethink the no visitors for 2 weeks rule and agree to have MIL stay. Or is that crazy?

Honestly babies are built to be resilient! You might not believe it now but you will get the hang of it very quickly. I've seen my brother go from the kind of person who held a baby at arms length to a man completely comfortable handling a newborn (well he appears to be anyway!) in a matter of days.

You will cope because quite frankly what is the other option Smile

My day is getting worse! I started with an upset stomach this afternoon and have spent more time on the loo than off it. DS has been playing up but thank heavens he's gone to bed now!

I just weighed myself again (I weigh myself every Tuesday morning) I'd lost 0.6kg since this morning. I'm going to the hospital tomorrow and if my weight is the same as just I'm only going to have put on 0.1kg in 3 weeks and before that if only put on 0.3kg in 4 weeks. I'm terrified I'm going to be in trouble. I don't think I'll cope with being told off feeling how I am.

I can feel stress creeping up on me today Sad

monkeybaby2 · 12/08/2014 20:13

Catface don't worry, I was exactly the same! A week before DD was born I was holding my friend's tiny premie baby and paranoid that I would drop him or break him or not hold his head properly and it would fall off. I had next to no experience of babies and was not a 'baby person'. Before DD was born, I had never even changed a nappy! I had to get a midwife to show me how to do the first one in the middle of the night!

It's scary and you're clueless and with a very few exceptions everybody is the same. But you know what? You will learn and it will get easier. And if this group turns out like my last one, it converted to a fb group and I asked loads of questions and got loads of advice and things to try even in the middle of the night when everyone else was asleep, there was always someone up feeding too who could help.

So, try and give yourself a break, it's completely normal to feel scared and overwhelmed as this is one of Life's really big fucking deals but there are loads of people out there to help share the load and keep you sane. Big hugs lovely and try and not put too much pressure on yourself x

CatFaceCrayola · 12/08/2014 20:21

I love this little group. Thanks guys!

DrewsWife · 12/08/2014 20:53

Yes there is definitely something in the air. I stood on the scales and am now 14' 5. Burst into tears and have been a snivelling wreck since.

Went to church to teach some classes to a young girl and afterwards sat in the cafe and are a fruit scone and a slice of gingerbread.

Been an emotional wreck all day!!

Baby has been kicking me in the fucking hoohaa all day..... It's soooo painful. Was in a meeting and had to keep a straight face. Hmm

Am in work on my night off and fed up. Just wanna be at home on the sofa

monkeybaby2 · 12/08/2014 20:56

And Whats you just reminded me of a DD special we call 'Angry Banana' - best used when I'm climbing the stairs or some other activity that will then put her in mortal peril. Toddlers are the bomb Grin

Ladylel · 12/08/2014 21:21

I've had my feet up since I got in and then in a bowl of ice water seems to have done the trick. Although I have a stunning limp going on, and the rib pain is more constant. Texted mw but she's not the best at replying. NHS website says to be aware of preeclampsia irk....

Been given a sterliser from someone, so been out getting bottles that fit. Not too expensive after all. Took dog out and.now shattered. Have ballooned overnight and have lower back pain on and off, but unsire if this is biggy testing, dog or sewing machine related (making hay bale sofa cover for festival thsi weekend).

Excuse typos, phone annyoing me. 22+3.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 12/08/2014 22:01

Ladylel get someone to massage your calves and feet gently, pushing the fluid towards your heart. You also need to make sure you sit with your feet up for a few hours every day. There's infos online about how to safely massage during pregnant. My DH has to do my calves every other night or I get horrendous cramp, and it must help with swelling because my feet are not too awful!

Ladylel · 12/08/2014 22:36

Massage sound good. Ankles are just slightly swollen now. They are the cause if my limping. YouTube here I come!

Roonerspism · 12/08/2014 22:39

catface other people's babies terrify me. Even after having two of my own. Something weird just clicks with your own and after a few weeks they "fit". A bit like your shoes - other people's feel wrong but yours are perfect.

I promise....!

I have put on 22 pounds if it cheers anyone up. It's all cheap Lidls chocolate.can I have first prize for greed?!

CatFaceCrayola · 12/08/2014 23:16

Will my initial weight be recorded in my notes? Prerty sure I've put on a tonne of weight but nonidea!

freyaW2014 · 13/08/2014 00:00

I've put on nearly 2 stone and I'm 21 weeks tomorrow Blush I haven't even been eating more so must be the hormones. I put on 4 stone with my DD so expect this is much the same, I've outgrown everything and been in maternity wear since 8-9 weeks! Ho hum I'm having a baby!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 13/08/2014 06:03

Peace try drinking tonic water. The salts really help with cramps!

Catface your weight at booking in should be recorded in your notes.

Started this journey considerably overweight and am going to finish it mahoosive. The crosstrainer I cant use at the minute is going to become my best friend after birth....

LotsaTuddles · 13/08/2014 06:51

Just checked and I weight 10 stone 9, I think I was just over 10 stone at the start.

Completely agree, other people's babies are scary. DR was tiny when he was born and I was fine. I held my friends few week old baby a couple of weeks ago, and I was terrified.

Have finally remembered to take a bump picture. Ignore the clothes, they're my housework trackies which are getting too small

20+5

LotsaTuddles · 13/08/2014 06:52

Ok I can't post a picture from my phone, will try again later

Ladylel · 13/08/2014 07:22

I feel like ive been run over. What's happened? Ankles hurt, hips hurt, shoulders hurt, jaw aches, hands numb...!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/08/2014 07:50

Same Ladylel. I woke up all through the night with various pains. It's my day off so I'm not impressed at being awake at this hour either Hmm
