I haven't filled in any forms or anything (should bi???) But I'm thinking of starting mat leave at 34 weeks as that is October half term. Although I'm tempted to do a week after half term (so 36) and then finish so I would have half term week off and then back for a week. I'm not sure how school holidays and mat leave work but I don't want to miss a week if I don't have to.

My job is tough though. I'm a cover teacher in a primary school. In a week I go round teach all 8 classes, and some rather challenging individuals. Not sure how well I'm going to cope when I go back in September :/

Taura · 09/08/2014 12:05

I'm counting down to finish on 31 October, then will have about 5 weeks of Holiday before mat leave starts 8 Dec (due 13th). My holiday year starts in the month of my birthday, so I have 33 days to use between 1st July and when the baby is due. It's a hard life! And yes I continue to accrue holiday whilst on mat leave so get to start all over again before I go back to work in 2016. Also accrue back holidays whilst off, so there is another 8 days to use before going back to work.

Expecting to get my Mat b1 this Wed at 22w midwife appt. I have to request mat leave on an official company form with Mat B1 attached at least 15w before EDD, which means I have to get it in by end Aug.

Ladylel · 09/08/2014 14:01

I'm looking to finish at 1st Oct - this is all dependant on what happens with the boys. I was always told you get the mat b1 at your 25th week but my boss has asked if I have this if things happen sooner than expected so asked my mw for it's she (was meant to) have it ready for me pick up on thursday but she forgot so in getting it next week.

I haven't even thought of lists. I can't get my head around anything right now. Just had a bit of a breakdown. Holding all the emotion in since Tuesday trying not to cry or think too much and after a complicated shouting match with my dad I've just snapped. I can't stop crying. I'm not sobbing but just teary. OH is at work so phoned him in tears to rant. Stress is not good for me or the babies and I'm just feeling so hopeless and helpless, I can't do it anything, no one can do anything. Feel so useless. Can feel my pulse in my tummy. Makes me worried and more concerned. ARGH

Try and take it easy ladylel Is there something nice and relaxing you can do to try and take your mind off things? something crafty normally works for me.

I'm feeling irrationally angry at DH. He was woken up at 2am last night by the neighbours. He's come in from work, grunted a few things at me, left his stuff all over the lounge that was tidy before he returned and went off upstairs. I've just been up to find him fast asleep. why do I feel so mad at him!?

TinyMonkey · 09/08/2014 15:54

I'm aiming to finish work on 21st November, use annual leave and then my mat leave will start a week later, I'm due 9th Dec. HR sent me a little calendar with it all worked out and I don't have to be back at work until 14th Jan 2016! That assumes 12 months mat leave plus 30 days accrued annual leave and eight bank holidays. I may only take 9 months though and with the accrued leave will go back mid-October instead. Depends how much I'm enjoying being at home.

Just found out that my preferred nursery will set us back £1202 a month for a full time place. Hmmm.

DrewsWife · 09/08/2014 17:22

Had some decent kicks today. Feeling happy as I had massive tummy pains last night.

Baby will sleep in with us. I won't give up my craft room until baby is 2. I am keeping my space. I was desperate for it for a long time lol. My thinking is that I can craft in there whilst baby sleeps. Grin

Just been on fb selling groups and bought a load of vests and grow bags.

Feeling a little obsessed!!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 09/08/2014 18:25

I want to finish as soon as is conceivably possible. My job is hideously busy and stressful (regional facilities manager for a charity offering housing to disabled people) and if truth be told I havent really enjoyed it for a while. It will be impossible to give the same amount of effort and time with a child, and I can't live with that level of stress. I'm not planning on going back to the same job, and we'll be moving during my year out so I want to finish preferably beginning of November, due 8th December. This means I will be moving and job hunting during maternity leave, but it's a whole new start.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 09/08/2014 19:03

What's everyone up to this evening? I don't have the stepkids, and have sent DP out on a rare night out with his mates as one is up visiting. He wasn't going to go as we rarely get a free weekend together but I am exhausted so wont be a fat lot of fun tonight, plus he doesn't go out very often. He's stopping over so I get a bed to myself.

I'm watching TV, have ordered a pizza and will eat it, veg out on my own, and head to bed early. Utter bliss!

CatFaceCrayola · 09/08/2014 19:12

No idea what my evening will involve. After a day of being Super Busy DH has offered to make whatever I want for tea. So we're having fancy smoked fish, herby potatoes and corn on the cob.

Then it'll probably be an evening of sitting and refreshing various internet pages. Unless I can coax people round for board games fun.

would like some wine too, felt way to guilty after drinking a tiny bit of cider though

22+6

Somersetgirl1990 · 09/08/2014 19:14

Spider sounds good - I've just got back from a beer festival. Ended up going for about 3 hours Confused we had free tickets though and it was nice to catch up with lots of people from the village that I haven't seen for ages.
About to take the doggies for a walk and then head to bed for an early ish night Grin

CatFaceCrayola · 09/08/2014 19:16

Oh and...todays excitement/stress causer.

Our passports have finally arrived! My parents offered to pay for us to go on holiday (our honeymoon really!). Parents were going to come with us but sadly now they can't due to various appointments. Feel pretty sad about this. Just had an email off my dad saying that as soon as I get travel insurance he will book it, but he's not going to tell us where we're going. It's a surprise apparently!

Travel insurance places are all shut on Saturdays though

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 09/08/2014 19:44

I've been working today so my evening will consist of cold snacky bits for tea, alcohol free cider, Casualty and lots of moaning and groaning about how tired and stiff I am. The baby has been moving a lot today and last night, and I suddenly feel VERY pregnant.

Taura · 09/08/2014 22:35

Tonight I watched the Red Arrows and a couple of Tornados fly past our sitting room, then cooked up dinner for my DP and visiting teenage cousin, then I got all practical and made a bolster-sized pillowcase for an old feather sofa cushion that I am going to test out as a cheap alternative to buying a £45-maternity pillow.

SassehMonsta · 09/08/2014 22:36

Had a lovely day out with one of my oldest and dearest friends, to cheer us both up! She came down for the day from Wolverhampton. Went round Milton Keynes and spent loads on baby (oops!) but now have several things I didn't have before, including changing mat, scratch mits, some bibs, more baby outfits and about 4 giant packets of babywipes! And, a StarWars t-shirt for baby :D Hit up Ikea for ideas (didn't get many!) and then went for dinner and stuffed our faces. MMmmmmm.

Came home and laptop had overheated and died. Ooops. Eventually its fixed but not healthy!!

Pasta now cooking for DH (as apparently he can't do it himself? no idea why not, hes been home all day!!!) and feeling snoozy. Baby was raving this morning, quiet all afternoon, and now slightly more active again this evening.

22 weeks exactly. Mum is bugging me to get my house sorted. Pfffft.

Roonerspism · 09/08/2014 22:38

ladylel sorry you are feeling so crap. When is your next scan? I think a good cry is only helpful and not harmful.... If it stops you worrying, I get that pulse thing too. It's all the extra blood flow I think.

Bettycakes80 · 09/08/2014 22:50

Haven't bought a single thing for the baby yet! Has anyone else not even started?

LisaC2611 · 09/08/2014 23:01

Have had a lazy evening tonight. Fell asleep in the settee but was woken with a heart attack when mil phoned.

Good job she called though over wise we would probably only just be eating dinner!

Have been looking at bits today to try and sort our house out. Went fireplace hunting today. Oh the joys of home owning

BOB as out little bean is now affectionately known has been very active today. Hopefully this is a good sign for our scan on Tuesday. Let's hope BOB behaves and for once lays in the right place so they can actually do a proper scan and give us a decent picture!!

23 weeks today Grin

Taura · 09/08/2014 23:05

My wriggler has been in the exact same position for each of the three scans we've had. Head on the left, feet on the right, facing towards my front. I wonder if this is just luck, or whether it's a creature of habit already and is comfy that way round?

DillieDoily · 09/08/2014 23:18

I'm planning on stopping for ML at 37 weeks, which will give me 2 weeks of relaxation as a section at 39 weeks is looking likely.

We're supposed to be going to Centre Parcs for 4 nights when I'll be 35 weeks- do you think this is do-able or am I off my head? It was booked (and all paid for) before I found out I was pregnant. We're going with another couple and their DS (and me, my DH and DS of course). It's only a 2 hour drive and I'm hoping DH and friends will keep 3 year old DS entertained while I wallow in the swimming pool.

Ladylel · 10/08/2014 00:54

Not until 19th, ive just been bottling everything up since Tuesday. I just want to cry constantly. Randomly.

Just been out to a wedding reception it was lovely but my head wasn't in it ya'know, even tho we came home just after midnight I still felt I wanted to leave by 9 when we'd only got there at 8!

Hopefully a goodnight sleep will help. I had a bath earlier, felt/saw tummy ripple after a few light kicks. Was nice :)

Anyone else have a problem with insomnia? My sleeping pattern has gone erratic, sometimes I'm asleep by 10pm and awake at 3am or can't sleep until early hours and still waking up at 6-7am. I know some of it is waking to pee but I do miss a good nights sleep!

LotsaTuddles · 10/08/2014 04:00

Freya, mine has too, but I've got a toothache and a DS who's decided that he a has been sleeping far too well since we changed his cot into a bed.

Can't remember who asked, but I haven't bought anything yet either. I can't find anything neutral that I like and we're not sure if it's a girl, so don't want to buy more girlie bits yet either.

Saying that though, we haven't got to get a lot.

Aaah, my wisdom tooth is infected again and needs to come out, but not till after the baby's born for some reason, does anyone know why they won't take a tooth out while pg?

Starting to feel proper kicks here too despite anterior placenta

DrewsWife · 10/08/2014 04:15

Yep Freya. I wide awake again and pissed off. Hubby is enjoying lovely sleeps. In left counting sheep. Hmm

Somersetgirl1990 · 10/08/2014 04:49

Another one with terrible sleep patterns here. Always end up awake at about 3 and then again at 4.30 when dp gets up until about 5.30.

Not sure sitting on my phone does much good for trying to get back to sleep!
