I was awake at 3, 4, 5.15 and getting up now at 6.20. So much for making the most of it before the baby comes! I don't know if it's partly excitement as my scan is due tomorrow and I'm going on holiday in 10 days though! Really want to know if I'm having a boy or girl! One more day to go, hope they can see on the scan!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 07:10

Lotsa, I think its to do with the fact they cant xray you or use anaesthetics

Sleep! Every night I wake up at 3/4 and then am awake for an hour or two. I've been going back to sleep for an hour around 7 as I have been off work but I'm back on Tuesday. Sad

Right now I am back in bed after my one cup of coffee per day, with a cat on my lap. Dp is still at his friends house. Its pissing it down outside and I fully plan on going back to sleep in a bit! Other cat is outside under a table. Shes an utter chicken so unless I call her and open the patio door she'll stay out there all panicy. There is a side door with catflap which is slightly further away. to get up and let her in would mean disturbing the non-chicken cat and getting out of bed.....

LotsaTuddles · 10/08/2014 07:58

See, I thought it was to do with the anaesthetic, but I was at DH's cousins baby shower and someone mentioned it and we were talking about it, and a few people made some really good points like if you need surgery, like your appendix out or something they do it while your pregnant.

I'm shattered at the minute (we'll ignore the fact that I was up all night last night) but normally, when I have a Decentish sleep and then even nap when DS does, I still have no energy to do anything.

Doesn't help that I'm massively emotional at the minute, anything will set me off

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 10/08/2014 08:47

I think with anaesthetic it's probably a case of emergency use only, ie, appendicitis is life threatening whereas needing a tooth out isn't (though it damn well feels like it!).

SassehMonsta · 10/08/2014 09:11

I really need to register with a.dentist up here! Getting occasional tooth pain, so might get it sorted/looked at while its free.

As for sleepin, I wake up to pee about 3-4 times a night, but tend to be.abel to get back to sleep if its dark outside. This means once its 5am, Im awake. Been up and working on baby blanket this morning, I've decided on re-using the tetris pieces I made for a project I abandoned, as Im lazy like that ;-)

Re: breastmilk - I've been gently expressing a few drops several times a day since 13weeks ish, otherwose boobs get sore. To begin with it was clear, then white/creamy, and now its sometimes yellow - is this normal? I get 6-15 drops from each boob about 4 times a day.

CatFaceCrayola · 10/08/2014 12:09

DH has been sleeping on the sofa bed for a while now so that I can take over the bed. He slept in our bed last night after the neighbour kept him awake. I feel like I've been in a fight!

23 weeks exactly!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 13:08

23 weeks too. 24 weeks next week. 6 months! fuck. How did that happen!

freyaW2014 · 10/08/2014 13:50

I'm 20+4 weeks so a bit behind you! I'm due on Xmas eve although according the the dating scan on the 27th, 20 week scan tomorrow Smile bit excited!

DrewsWife · 10/08/2014 13:59

Anyone getting a fast heart rate? Happened a few times. Was 104 when I was admitted to hospital last week but they put it down to pain. Just happened again and left me all dizzy. I was semi sitting up in bed and us just had weetabix. So not like I ran a marathon.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 15:47

Mine gets faster when I dont drink enough. Usually goes when I glug a load of water.

DrewsWife · 10/08/2014 15:59

Oooooo that sounds like something I should do. I'm still struggling to drink and eat so will do that!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 17:09

Dp has just cooked the most amazing roast. Chicken. stuffing, roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots greenbeans. He does the best roast potatoes. This is one of the reasons I love him.Grin

CallingAllEngels · 10/08/2014 17:13

20w today here.

Losing will to live with potty training DS.

CallingAllEngels · 10/08/2014 17:15

I have low blood pressure and feel very lightheaded a lot of the time, especially after walking up or down stairs or getting up from squatting (with ds or cleaning or picking something up). Somone recommended keeping fluid intake up (think it was poly).

Somersetgirl1990 · 10/08/2014 17:54

I need to vent and I'm sorry if I sound like a massively ungrateful cow - which I no doubt will but here goes...

My mum is driving me crazy, she's so excited about this baby and has been buying endless amount of stuff - she's bought 3 prams Shock that's just for her house as I've already said i want to choose what stuff I buy, stupid amounts of baby clothes, a travel cot for "when the baby stays at hers."
I've already told her to please stop buying things and it seems to stop her for a few weeks before she's back to buying stuff. I get that she's really excited, this is her first grandchild, but it's all she can talk about and it's sort of doing my head in, I feel like a human incubator.

Today she's asking me how old the baby will be before she can take it on holiday as her and her partner are looking at buying a camper can type thing and want to know so they can buy an appropriately sized one Confused

I know I'm probably being really self involved and I'm sorry for being ungrateful but it's genuinely starting to stress me out! The baby isn't even here yet!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 18:35

Somersetgirl my mum and sisters are doing the same and its infuriating. They are making plans, calling the baby "my little princess", talking about buying her "girly clothes"....and buying loads of unnessary stuff. its doing my nut in. I know they are excited but this is my baby, my first baby, and there is stuff I want to do/ buy but they keep beating me to it. I've had to tell them to tone it down. I know it takes a village and all that, but in this instance I live nowhere near any if them and have a strange relationship with them in any case. Angry

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 18:37

I want the headspace to figure out what I want to do, and the way I want to do things and it feels like I am being pressured.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 18:40

Sorry, keep thinking of things to say. I know my sister wants more kids and I feel like shes looking at this baby as not hers exactly, but definitely with some sort of ownership and its making me growl.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 18:41

So no, you are not a massively ungrateful cow. People go funny at the thought of new babies and act a bit weirdGrin

Somersetgirl1990 · 10/08/2014 18:43

Oh my mum has on many many occasions referred to the baby as "hers". No, it's mine ??

Not sure if it will get better or worse once the baby is here

Shanels · 10/08/2014 18:58

Hi drewswife
I'm having lots of scans for my heart which goes up to 150 at times and is 104 on average (tachycardia). I have an echo scan on Tues and then seeing consultant to find out what's what on Friday.
104 is not worrying and is expected during pregnancy as the faster blood circulation causes it. So don't worry about it. It should go down after birth. If you are worried, ask them though. Take it easy x

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 19:02

Somersetgirl. Yes! Does it fill you with rage? I cant help feeling really cross when I see "cant wait to buy my little princess...." I am not close to either my sisters or my mum so I do feel a bit like an incubator as you said. Angry

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 10/08/2014 19:12

My sister was a bit overbearing when I first told her, phoning me up multiple times a day wanting to talk about it. I was still sick at the time, so I snapped in the end and told her, in the nicest possible way, to just give it a rest. She has stopped now, just when I'm feeling like talking about it Grin
I've asked my mum (who I also have a weird relationship with) to help me shop for things like prams etc as I have no idea, and no friends with babies to ask, and she says yes, but she won't get around to it. She's only in the country two or three times a year and has just gone home today. I want it all ways, clearly! We get on better when she's not around, but I could do with her sometimes. I think I'm still kidding myself as to how involved she wants to be with me, and I know I get disappointed when she lets me down, but it's so tempting to be sucked in when she's around and playing at being mummy.
Ooh that was a bit miserable, sorry!
I'm having mince and dumplings for tea, excited! And I've felt proper kicks for two days now! Creepy!

CatFaceCrayola · 10/08/2014 19:24

After birth how much bleeding will there be? And how long for?

I'm thinking of getting some washable sanitary pads (I've been a mooncup-er for years, and am going for washable nappies so makes sense) but i've no idea how many/what sort to go for?

I'm enjoying this not having any periods business mind you!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 10/08/2014 19:33

I have been told that it goes on for weeks. Is that true? Someone further down the thread suggested the Kotex pads. I am using washable nappies, breast pads and wipes but I think I draw the line at washable padsGrin
