mum2 just don't do it. Seriously. As long as the stuff gets done, why would anything change?
No cooking, no cleaning. Get takeaways or let him do something really simple. He is not going to starve is he?
And then bring in a cleaner 2 hours per week if you can afford it. I said to DH that the cost was probably cancelled out by the number of drinks I would have bought if I wasn't pregnant! Best thing ever.

Hello Octoberers Blimey these threads move fast!

Just wanted to drop a quick reminder about Bumpfest - our one-day all-you-need one-stop-shop for finding out about pregnancy, birth and your baby's first six months. Book before August 3 to get reduced tickets, and even bigger savings if you book in groups of three or more.

The goody bag is worth more than the ticket price (if you use a combo of Early Bird booking and group booking), and you get lunch and drinks and snacks too.

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 10:59

How much?! If that's the early bird price I don't want to see the standard price lol!

ohthegoats · 30/07/2014 11:00

I'm blessed in the boyfriend department re house stuff - he does pretty much all the cooking, he's so much better at it than me. If I cook it's jacket potatoes, pasta etc. I am actually not a bad cook, but he's practically a vegan, and is used to cooking food that he likes (and is super tasty), whereas I'm pretty good at meat - which obviously he wouldn't eat. When I'm home alone it's bologneses, stews etc.

I've worked something out - I can either eat food that gives me really bad heartburn and NOT have constipation (ie, carbs - bread etc), OR I can eat food that doesn't make me feel sick and have heartburn, but have horrible constipation.

Rock and a hard place (ha, almost literally).

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 11:04

Dp only moved in in January so it's still early days in terms of house training here! I've tried not doing anything...that's no use as I still need to prepare meals for my Dd and can't if the kitchen is a mess. I asked him if he expects me to do it all and he said no! So presumably the cleaning fairy is on her way over lol! We usually do a proper clean on Saturdays and he does get fully involved but outside of that he doesn't do anything at all unless I ask or lose my rag!

ohthegoats · 30/07/2014 11:18

Ah yeah, first few months of living with a new person = always a bit tricky sorting out levels of tolerance to mess etc.

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 30/07/2014 11:42

DH was a complete angel when I was pregnant with DS, I barely lifted a finger. This time not so much! Still expected to carry on as before despite having a toddler as well this time! When I asked him about it the other day he said that having a toddler to look after wasn't as much strain on me as going to work like I did last time (?!!!). I disagreed and he reasoned that he must have been too nice to be last time then! In fairness he will help if I ask but its pretty begrudgingly. Hope you can train your man in time for baby mum2kiss ;)

Just had my whooping cough jab, achey arm but not so bad. I think the ache is because the jab has the tetanus jab in it as well and that's the thing that can cause achey muscles?

Sorry some of you ladies are having a hard time atm, things definitely hit home more when you are growing a life. I am feeling a lot more anxious with this pregnancy, I think because I have living proof of what pregnancy is supposed to end up like (DS) and it would be a constant reminder if it didn't turn out the same IYSWIM? Just can't wait when we can all give our little ones a cuddle and start worrying about other things instead!

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 11:53

I hope so too jelly or I can see me having a major meltdown after the birth! I told dp last night that if he thought I'd be cooking dinner any time soon after baby arrives he could forget it! He suggested begging my mum to step in! I despair at this man sometimes!

My whooping cough jab is almost a week old and still itchy and lumpy! Very annoying!

RowanMumsnet · 30/07/2014 11:59

It comes down to £42ish if you use the group discount and the EarlyBird offer together - the loot in the goody bag is worth about that by itself, and you get lunch and snacks and drinks all included.

Completely understand of course that it won't be for everyone though.

fatpony · 30/07/2014 13:06

Thanks bump - I never feel like exercise when I leave work but if I do force myself to the gym I feel fantastic afterwards, and I get time to listen to my podcasts.

Anyone else suffering from insomnia? I'm falling asleep easily at about 11pm but then waking up on the dot at 2.45am and tossing and turning - this morning I gave in at 4.30am, ate a packet of pickled monster munch and then watched some crap tv. Sucks because I have to get up for work at 6.30/6.45am anyway.

Any tips on staying asleep? I notice when I wake up that the baby is wriggling around a lot and I'm a bit peckish.

ohthegoats · 30/07/2014 13:10

fatpony - I'm having major sleeping problems. I reckon I got a solid 2 hours last night, the rest was pointless. I went to bed at midnight, I'd done some exercise, I've nothing to be stressed about... gave up around 4.30, tried to lie there for a bit but started to sneeze and sniff, which would irritate boyfriend - so just got up. Homes under the hammer was on at 5.30 while I was eating my beans on toast.

I wonder if it's part hunger too, but mostly I think it's too hot to sleep properly, so I'm sleeping really lightly - which means any need for the loo wakes me up, any movement or noise from boyf wakes me up... and in the end I'm just so 'awake' that there is no chance of getting back to sleep.

I went back to bed at 8 this morning, but even then had to listen to a hypnotherapy CD to get myself to drift off - managed 40 minutes before awake again.

It's been like this for weeks - since the heat really.

YellowWellies · 30/07/2014 13:12

Mum2 get his arse kicked into shape now as once the baby arrives that'll be something else making him tired and an excuse not to pull his weight. Or suggest that if you are doing the cooking and cleaning and daytime childcare that he's in charge of night wakings? Grin

magichandles · 30/07/2014 13:16

fatpony I'm starting to have trouble getting to sleep, which is really unusual for me as normally I'm out like at light by 1030. I have read somewhere that if it's not stress waking you up in the middle of the night, it may be hunger so it's worth having a decent snack before you go to bed.

fatpony · 30/07/2014 13:31

goats - I know what you mean about the heat. I love the weight of a duvet and I'm sleeping under a thin sheet at the moment. I'm actually dreaming of autumn at the moment, chilly sunny days with lovely leaves on the ground, log burner on etc in the afternoon. DH is winding me up by saying it'll be an Indian summer till late September!

I might put some snacks by the bed to try and avoid waking up fully by going into the kitchen. Tonight I'll try some last minute toast before bed.

ExcitedCJ · 30/07/2014 13:45

Sitting waiting to see Doc at my 28 wk (really 29ish) appointment. All good with BP & urine test so far, which is great as I was worried about GD & Pre-eclampsia. Had PE last time but can't remember if it started later than 28 - 30 wks. I'm going to eat my caramel Freddo to celebrate! :)

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 13:53

I like your thinking yellow. I've heard him say more than once that babies tend to want their mothers so he won't have much to do! At first I thought he was joking but now I'm not so sure!

I think the babyfest looks like a good day out but when you factor in the cost for 2 people (not likely that I'd go alone) plus getting to london and any goodies you want to buy on the day it would work out too expensive for me. Little too close to my due date too so I'd be kidding myself if I thought I could manage a full day out...

gunwalloe · 30/07/2014 13:58

im blessed in the hubby dept to and having older children is fab. Hubby cooks and cleans older kids do washing and dishwasher leaving me with naff all to do :)

Growth scan and consultant today baby looks good and shows no sign of suffering due to my gestational diabetes consultants happy with my blood sugar readings so no metformin or insulin needed at the mo. Also got a gold star for weight loss ( I was overweight before becoming pregnant) ive lost 10kgs so far.

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 14:07

Good news gun! Can I come and live at your house for a few months please?! Lol!

gunwalloe · 30/07/2014 14:12

thanks Mum, If you could handle 4 kids running around your welcome :)

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 14:19

Ah now that may pose a problem for me...its probably easier if you just post your hubby hear and I'll send you mine for some intensive training!

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 14:20

Here not hear! Hate it when I do that!

ExcitedCJ · 30/07/2014 14:21

Oh good lord! They have just estimated that bub is currently 1700g which is 3lbs7oz at 29 + 2!!! I asked about GD & he said, no sign, "you just cook big babies!"
My DD was 9lb14oz on her due date! My husband was suggesting a lb a week from now on meaning baby will be 1stone in weight on due date. NO WAY!

mum2kiss · 30/07/2014 14:24

Lol excited I've always heard they gain 1 lb per week from 36 weeks so you should be ok!

gunwalloe · 30/07/2014 14:31

sounds like a plan mum :)

excited myn is estimated 2039g 4.49lb today im 31+1 if she stays growing steadily the graph predicts 8lb 12 but im sure she feels the same as my last two who were in the 7lbs

Have you got a grow chart/graph that you can plot the weight on to get a estimate of birth weight?
