Hi,

I've finally got my BFP and want to find others who want to chat and eat cake whilst being excited about cooking our little dragons.

I am 31yrs old, just got my BFP for #2.

Come in and sit down for the next nerve racking 9 months :)

roastpots · 11/08/2014 10:05

Hey, I've had nasty pains the last two evenings but both times it's turned out to be trapped wind (glamorous!) DH is back today after being away for 2 weeks so I am going to have to start being a bit more lady like!!

minipie · 11/08/2014 10:08

morning everyone! just catching up.

Misty sorry to hear of bleeding - if you had some before and it was ok then hopefully it will be ok again? Good luck for the scan tomorrow.

And good luck to dances too, hope you can get a decent idea of dating!

I am getting occasional pains in hip/groin area but they feel more like stretching pains rather than cramping, they only last a couple of seconds then gone. Hope those of you with cramps find it eases soon.

my symptoms - nausea, wind (been properly musical Blush), sore boobs, tiredness, grumpiness. I am a real delight Hmm.

Misty for bad skin, you could ask for benzoyl peroxide cream like Duac on prescription as that's safe in pregnancy. I think you need to avoid some antibiotics and anything retinol/vitamin A based (even if topical) and obviously you can't take the pill! I've had acne for years, when I was pg with DD it was worse up to about week 16 but I then had nearly clear skin (unusual for me!) till the end of pregnancy. This time round my skin isn't any worse... yet.

I've still not heard from the hospital re booking in or scan. Need to check my GP has actually done the referral....

BitchPeas · 11/08/2014 10:40

Hi everyone.

Good luck for your scan misty I had 3 bleeds with DS before 8 weeks and he was absolutely fine. Fx for you x

Made an appointment for a scan with my consultant in 3 weeks time. Should be 7+4 by then and have GPs appointment for tomorrow evening to be booked in etc.

I feel like a bit of a fraud still. I'm only 4+2. My nipples are a tad sore, and I'm nauseous and crampy every now and again. I need the real symptoms to start so I can relax a little bit. It doesn't feel real yet! Apart from the dread of something going wrong again. But I'm trying to keep a PMA so I don't drive myself mad! I've got a long way to go until the all clear at a 22 week scan!

Phryn · 11/08/2014 10:57

Hi ladies, mind if I join you?

I've just got my BFP on Sunday. Still can't quite believe it.

My stats are...

Phryn, 32, TTC#1, Estimated due date around 5th April.

Can I ask what does the + mean in a due date? Just when I thought I'd got the TTC lingo down there's a whole world of AN lingo to learn!

I've just made an appt with my GP surgery and as it's my first pregnancy I've been offered an appointment with the GP this Friday. Excited about getting the process underway. Grin

Not much in the way of symptoms, increased thirst and tiredness and a miniscile amount of blood is my CM. I get this pulling sensation and the odd cramp which seems normal from reading about it. I'll check with the GP on Fri if/when I should worry.

Waves at bitchpeas - nice to see a familiar name from the August bus.

Hope you're all okay. Thinking of those coping with cramping/bleeding and hoping it will all be okay.

BrixtonBunny · 11/08/2014 11:15

Hi Phryn, welcome on board Grin

The numbers with the plus sign tend to be how far along you are, for eg I'm 5+3 today which means 5 weeks and 3 days (since my last period - we'll hopefully all get more accurate dates at later scans!). Is that what you were asking? X

Phryn · 11/08/2014 11:27

Thanks Brixton - that's exactly what I was wondering, although I probably should have guessed!

That means I'm 5+6 weeks along according to that way of dating stuff Smile

Phryn · 11/08/2014 11:29

Just realised writing weeks at the end of 5+6 is redundant! Oh well :s

Lindalove · 11/08/2014 11:47

Hi all is anyone here from London as I'd like to reach out to April mums -to-be in my locality? I'm in Stoke Newington N16. I imagine there are some London centric issues as so many babies born here so queues/ etc maybe make things more difficult etc? My local hospital is the Homerton. I'm 6 weeks and 2 days, no scan or anything yet but am asking my doctor what I should do now to book on, if anything as its still early days.

BrixtonBunny · 11/08/2014 11:50

Linda I'm in Brixton (though we're probably going to move before the year is out which is concerning as will have to change hospitals). I went to my GP who booked me an appt with the midwife, and also booked my 12 week scan. It seems like different areas work in different ways though! Useful bit of advice - in case anything goes wrong (I'm sure it won't) St Thomas's hospital have a self-referral, walk in EPU. I went there last week and they were fab x

Lindalove · 11/08/2014 11:56

Thanks BrixtonBunny good to know. So far fingers crossed everything very calm, mild cramps, no spotting, mildly tender boobs and the occasional slight feeling of nausea (so slight it could be imaginary). I'm 38 and also on anti-depressants (Sertraline) as without them suffer from agoraphobia and anxiety which is no good in a mum to be, so just need to make sure age & drugs are all fine with baby. Doc said they were pre-TTC but I'd like to keep an eye on things in terms of development.

pyrowall · 11/08/2014 11:56

Hi phryn

I'm EDD 5th april too - it's Easter Sunday!

linda not quite in London, but Watford - different to BrixtonBunny where I've only got my first midwife app booked - just waiting on the scan date, I can't remember what happened last time!

EssenceOfGelfling · 11/08/2014 11:57

Nausea has really kicked in today urgh. Trying to avoid coughing or getting up too quickly as it just turns into bad things.

The DCs are enjoying a 70s-style summer holiday now - lots of TV and neglect!

Wondering about paying for an early scan. Touch wood this will be my last pregnancy and I'm trying to 'enjoy' it, keep a dairy and things. How much does it cost? Do you need to tell you midwife?

minipie · 11/08/2014 12:08

Linda I'm London too but SW (used to live in highbury though very close to stokey!). My GP has referred me to my local hospital St George's but I haven't heard back from them yet. I know St G take self referrals as well, if you are in their area, so maybe Homerton does? Have a look at their website.

Lunchtime... can't decide if I feel hungry or sick Confused

Lindalove · 11/08/2014 12:15

Thanks minipie I'll see how reactive my GP surgery is first. If not very, I might self refer for a check up. Yes I know Highbury well, love La Fromagerie cheese shop, shame I can't eat of the blue stuff right now! MMMMM CHEESE

LadesC · 11/08/2014 12:43

Congrats phryn..think I recognise u from the newbies ttc thread Grin

CatRen27 · 11/08/2014 13:25

hi Lindalove I'm in n19 and also wondering about London issues. Heard very differing views on the whittington which is just down the road.

Cassieyellow · 11/08/2014 13:39

Afternoon everyone, lovely to follow the thread, as usual and hear about everyone's symptoms / lack of etc. I am still surprised that I don't feel worse yet but this morning had a wet patch on my jim jams by my right boob! And my stomach is so bloated. I have looked back at photos of my last pregnancy and I look 20 weeks pregnant right now! Brixton - I moved hospitals/doctors 6 months pregnant and it was fine. Although Had to do whole booking in appt all over again and I couldn't believe they wanted to start a whole new set of notes. They asked me to take both folders in when went into hospital though. Anyone Norfolk way? I have several friends who were at St Thomas's and very happy with it.

Fingers crossed for misty and anyone else getting the stupid spotting / bleeding. I am another one who had loads. Strangely I had scary blood loss in week 12,13,14 almost at the same time, (I think every Wednesday) just a load when I wiped. Once it happened whilst I was with the midwife! Our bodies are SO bizarre.

Lindalove · 11/08/2014 13:43

CatRen27 if you check out NHS Choices website you can compare the hospitals' maternity services. Homerton has fewer complaints per 10,000 maternity care episodes than the Whittington, but everyone has their own feelings about things and might be worth a look round the unit at some point (assuming you're not going for home birth). I think I'd prefer the maternity unit at Homerton but as I'm 38 they might not allow that and stick me in the main hospital under a consultant. www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/where-can-i-give-birth.aspx

cinnamongreyhound · 11/08/2014 15:39

Congratulations Phryn!

I found one for £85 EssenceOfGelfling near me in Norfolk.

Me Cassieyellow, well Suffolk but right on the boarder.

I've had a horribly stressful day! I have my friends girls when I have spaces and after being at the park for about 15 mins today her eldest fell off the monkey bars, she really screamed and couldn't bend it so off to a&e we went. Left my two plus her sister with my stepdad and borrowed his car to take her and my two minded boys with me. My friend finally arrived at 1.45, they were waiting for her to sign consent for surgery as they need to fix her arm before putting it in a cast!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/08/2014 15:40

Couldn't bend her arm even!

LadesC · 11/08/2014 15:41

Lindalove...do the nhs have an age cutoff for mw led care then? Am 37 but will be 38 at my edd. Had assumed id be mw led but hadnt considered my age!!Blush

minipie · 11/08/2014 15:54

Cassie that's funny about your wednesday bleeding - I had it every Tuesday in my last pregnancy! I think it happened weeks 8, 9, 10, 14 or something like that, always on a tuesday. Very weird!

chiliplant · 11/08/2014 16:13

Welcome to the newbies! I had bleeding on my last pregnancy. So frightening and it means you can't get into the swing of things orget too excited.

Still no symptoms yet! Does anyone else keep recalcuilasting their dates? In a vain hope t nudge it along a bit?!x

Just found online mothers with no previous problems can have mlc if they are 16-42 years old.
