Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

Welcome Amanda!

For those still suffering with morning sickness, there was a very interesting discussion on Woman's Hour last week: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04brpdm

Monitor wise, I definitely just want an audio one, otherwise I think I'd drive myself up the wall!

sleepisforthetired · 04/08/2014 16:04

Hi all

Who was it talking about random/freaky dreams? What started as a pretty mundane dream of doing the big (grocery) shop ended with a zombie apocalypse, and me choosing to turn DS using medicine rather than letting the zombies get us... I blame the book I am reading!

Appointments - I have my midwife this week to talk about DS birth, next week consultant appointment and week following is the scan. Would like to just know already if I need to worry or if I can relax (as much as anyone is able when pregnant!)

Anyone else starting their Christmas shopping in case baby makes an early entrance as they don't trust the husband/partner to sort Christmas?

Loobyloo893 · 04/08/2014 16:06

Welcome Amanda.

Tams, we had a sound monitor for DS. It was fine. I would quite like a video one but I don't want a movement or breathing mat one. I was paranoid enough without one.

I've had a lovely day today. We went on a gruffalo trail in a local forest which DS was so excited about. We had ice cream on the way home and then played in the paddling pool Grin and I haven't felt sick today. Woohoo.

tams1uk · 04/08/2014 16:22

Thanks ladies, definitely follows my thought pattern then - those sensor things would drive me completely insane!! Have already told DM to calm down a little as it is WAY to early to even be considering those types of things.

Welcome Amanda.

Looby, that sounds like an awesome day

cheshirem2b · 04/08/2014 17:12

I couldn't have a motion sensor monitor... I would go insane! I think DH wants to chose this (he love's his gadgets!) so I am sure it will be wifi, video etc but I have said NO to motion sensor!

Sleep I know what you mean... had mw at 16+5, scan not until 21w (because of holidays) and I just want to know bump is ok!
Also, totally not letting DH organise Christmas! I will do it in advance but not just yet... !Confused

Going shopping to kiddicare on Thursday with DH & my parents! Can't wait!

Babysprout · 04/08/2014 17:40

I'm sorry there's still so much ms still going on - it was meant to be over by now wasn't it!?! I'm queasy and generally gag/wretch most mornings but soon settle down and can get on with the day.

I'm nervous to mention baby monitors to DH - he loves gadgets and this will be one that he can justify!! I have no doubt we'll end up with the one with the most features that I never really know how to use!! How do the movement sesnor ones work when you go into the room to feed etc?

Hello Amanda :)

RPopz · 04/08/2014 17:53

Welcome Amanda, how've you been feeling?

Glad you enjoyed your day off Saras I had a couple of days off last week for first time in pg. I felt a lot better for it! Coming to terms with being able to do less is a big thing I think... I'm shattered by 2pm most days now and it's so frustrating but...I guess growing a little person is harder work than it looks Smile

I've had a few bump comments these past few days too Smile - hooray for not just being porky haha!

I'm not too fussed about getting a baby monitor. But my DH sounds like yours sprout - into anything gadgety so it'll be his pet project if we do decide to get one.... Hmm

Scan a week on Friday. Excited/ terrified!!

KatnissEvermean · 04/08/2014 18:10

Welcome Amanda.

Sara, hope you are feeling better after having a day off.

Sleep, good point about the Christmas shopping. I will start early as well just in case. Not just yet though!

Chesire, have fun in Kiddicare! We went crazy in there. My local one is near my bus stop so I went in again today just in case they had the furniture I wanted. Will probably go every day, just in case! Blush

RPopz · 04/08/2014 18:38

Eurgh. Christmas! You lot are too organised!

Anyone else back to peeing every 30 minutes....? It's driving me bonkers!

rumisyum · 04/08/2014 20:34

Camsie that was really interesting, thank for sharing. And hopefully reassuring for those who are still being very sick! Your babies will be smarter than the likes of mine, by the sound of things. Wink

Christ-who? HAHAHAHA, you guys are hilarious. My husband's birthday is later this month & I haven't even sorted that out yet. That said, I am SO EXCITED about Christmas this year, being all pregnant and whatnot. (Hopefully pregnant, please do not come early, little one.) As soon as I get a whiff of autumn, I reckon I'll be going Christmas planning crazy. Which mainly means trying to knit All The Presents.

I feel you on the getting tired by 2pm Rpopz. I was thinking that today, seeing a client at the end of the day & feeling completely zonked. I'm going to have to restructure my work days pronto so I have things slotted in when I'm at my most perky.

Speaking of which, my husband just phoned me from a work get-together & there's some French chick who's hanging out with them & still working at 38 weeks, and he wants to know why I'm not planning to do like her. Because I'm not completely mental?! HmmConfused She only gets 12 weeks mat leave apparently, so it makes sense for her to push it as late as possible, why would I want to be some sort of masochist for fun & games?! Ugh. Now I'm pissed off with him & he's not even home yet. I'm going to go soak (& fume) in the bath. Sod him. He's not the one who's body is changing unrecognisably a mile a minute. Men. Angry

WHOSE not who's in that last line. Anger is no excuse for poor grammar. Blush

Gosh I suppose I need to add Christmas prep to my todo list... it just hit me the chances of me having this baby at 37weeks once they take the stitch out is quite high.

Finally got my quadruple blood tests results letter for downs risk today low risk 1 in 2900.

cheshirem2b · 04/08/2014 21:04

Rum enjoy your soak in the bath... Men! Ps:love the grammar comment! Grin

k8 good news for you to focus on! Hurray!

katniss I've got my eye on a cotbed from there so will keep going until I get it!

After my ms session this morning I perked up in work but this evening I'm feeling really lethargic... Early night I think!

MightyQuin1201 · 04/08/2014 21:46

Hello! So my ms is definitely easing, but now I seem to be getting these round ligament pains- anyone else had much of this going on? I'm still completely shattered too...

Minibagel · 04/08/2014 21:52

Welcome amanda we are due the same day!

We have the angelcare monitor with sensor pad for ds1 and would recommend it. It goes off only if there is no movement detected for 15 seconds and on the rare occasion it has gone off (probably less than 10 times since we have used it) it has been good to know we've bolted straight out of bed and checked on him within seconds. Each time it has been that he has moved to the furthest reaches of the cot so nothing to worry about. But if it was more serious and he'd stopped breathing it wouldnt be too late to resuscitate. It must be good for reducing the chance of cot death.

We didn't have one for 5 months until he went in the cot, but once when he was in the moses basket I went to check on him and he was so pale and cold, and wouldn't wake when I moved him, I thought we'd lost him. It was the most frightening thing. Thankfully he was just in a very deep sleep and woke with a startle when I shook him and shouted his name. But that made our mind up about getting a sensor mat.

Camsie30 · 04/08/2014 21:54

Looby is that the Gruffalo trail in Brentwood? I've been with friends and their kids and it's fantastic!

GordieLachance · 04/08/2014 22:00

Rum hilarious adherence to correct spelling and grammar. I entirely concur.

My scans on Friday. FB group members will know that it's been a bit fraught as DH is on jury service and we're not yet sure if he's going to make it Sad.

It's been lovely to read through and catch up with you all after a few busy days Smile

RPopz · 04/08/2014 22:14

Vivi - is that you?? Wink

ViviPru · 04/08/2014 22:37

Yeh, sorry. NC fail. Toyed with the idea of NC for posts outside the bus but clearly I don't have the mental capacity for such complicated technical tomfoolery at present. Normal service resumed!!

Thanks so much Mad. It's too late to get an evening appointment for a private one this week beforehand now, and what with my Mum having whooping cough I'm just clinging on to the hope he can make it!

LMSunshine · 05/08/2014 06:20

Morning all. Not been on the thread for a while as lots of stuff going on, but looking forward to catching up.

I had my scan yesterday and I'm having a boy :-). I'm over the moon and also a little shocked as their are no boys in my family. Boots clothes are 50% off and they are really nice quality so stocked up yesterday. It was lovely finally buying things for my baby boy.

Camsie, it's one in Durham. There's about 20 of them across the country.

LM fantastic news, congrats on ur little boy Grin

ilovelamp78 · 05/08/2014 08:04

I went to kiddicare and bought nothing! But on a plus note, my friend pointed out stuff that she found useful and offered me loads of her stuff. She also recommended the angelcare monitor and I did spot a really nice play mat so maybe I'll go back ....
