Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

I'm gutted my mw said she wouldn't listen for a heartbeat yet... never mind!

In 2 weeks and 6 days we will be seeing our likkle munchkin again! My bf has just sent me her 20 week scan pics of her twins - amazing!

Thank goodness it's just heat rash, Henrietta.

I just had my MW appt too! Heard the heartbeat right away, and lots of little wriggles. With a speedy heart rate of 160-170, it's in keeping with my feeling that I might be having a little girl, but we'll see! That's totally made my day now.

I've had a lovely day visiting one of my oldest friends who emigrated but it back in the country for a bit with her 10m/o who is UTTERLY EDIBLE.

She said the ONE piece of advice she would give is to invest in a shit hot breast pump. She swears by the Medela and after talking to her about it (and hearing other friends' breast pump experiences) I'm sold.

Talk to me about the theory behind double pumps Mad - whys that better? Just cause it's quicker overall?

Rpopz and Rum I had the same pump recommendation this week so must be worth investigating.

Dec I'm also off on hols, flying tomorrow. Such a stressful day at work finishing everything off so am now feeling really stressed as well as usual exhaustion :( So glad to be getting a break now.

Had my 16 week appt yesterday but didn't get to hear heartbeat. I do now have a final year student mw following me through so that's nice to know we will have a familiar face and consistency at every appointment, and she was lovely so I'm really happy about that :)

Ooh, thanks for the pump recs. Medela Swing, eh? Duly bookmarked. I find there's something quite scarily mechanical about the double pumps. I mean, I know I'm about to become someone's personal milk-machine if I breastfeed, but still.

I think I might rent a hospital grade pump for a few weeks and see how I get on first. They are the most powerful so should get the most milk off, but I know some friends spent a load on an expensive medela or similar and then could only get a couple of ounzes off regardless of how much milk they had, so they gave up and ended up wasting a load of money. I think I might pump when my milk supply goes mental at the beginning, to build up a freezer stash becaus it lasts 6 months and they say its when you'll have the most chance of getting lots off.

Damnit!!

Ps go team girl rum!

I have the double medela swing. It was fantastic! I used it in the first week as DS wasn't suckling at first, had lost too much weight so mw/kraamzorg recommended to encourage my supply. Ended up using it lots, especially when I went back to work when DS was 4 months old. I could sit and read my kindle while pumping both sides.

Plus, I think it'll be pretty easy t sell the base unit on when I'm done with DC2 (probably my last ).

Aching bump today. Baby has been really moving around, alternately kicking my bladder and up into my chest.

Ah thank you Mads - that is exactly what it is!! Must admit I've heard the phrase before but I always thought it was that stretchy feeling you get round your tummy. Well ouch - what a bitch RLP is!

This is totally unrelated and a bit of a selfish post but... I've lost my eternity ring and I am gutted. I have been rubbing around like a headless chicken and have no idea when or where I lost it. My stupid fingers have got skinnier since being pregnant and it has fallen off a couple of times but I have always noticed. Feeling very sad and sorry for myself right now!!
Sorry, just needed to vent. I know in the grand scheme of things it's very trivial.

Hi there, I've not been on here for a while- I did go off to see my Mum in France and she didn't drink, but I found the whole trip really stressful. I then came back to a mountain of work and emails (or just regular amount of work & emails, but just disliking it so much it feels like a mountain).

It's been lovely hearing everyone's news- everyone is so organised!! I've told a lot of people now and I'm feeling fat! Also, we found out the sex!! I had the harmony test, so we found out a couple of weeks ago and we're having a daughter! We're very excited.

At the moment I'm generally feeling quite tearful though. I work for an NGO and the situation in Gaza is on my mind constantly.

Hi everyone, I'm on the Feb thread as my original EDD was Feb 3 but at my 12w scan they just bumped it up to Jan 28! Permission to straddle both groups?

Welcome back mighty!! A little girl - how exciting! Another for team girl! Hopefully I'll be able to let you know what we are having after our scan this morning. Been having weird dreams about giving birth to dinosaurs, lizards, snakes... There's something wrong with me!

Dec2013, hope you find your ring. It's horrible when you lose something so sentimental :( I thought I had lost my phone on Thurs (clearly diff to losing a ring but I was so upset). Phoned my OH, asked him to 'find a friend' me at which point he informed me that the phone was in my office somewhere. (By this point I had been crying hysterically ). Went back to my desk...phone was under my keyboard. Hope your ring turns up somewhere silly too!
