Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

I admire the willpower of you ladies who get to 20 weeks without telling anyone! We caved and told family at about 6 weeks, I had to tell my boss at 9 weeks as my mw said I couldn't fly so had to cancel a work trip. We've been telling everyone else since 12 weeks. I couldn't hide much beyond 12 weeks though due to my little bump forming - everyone was expecting us to be ttc I think and had eagle eyes for any sign of bump!

Sprout I bought mat jeans at 12 weeks as couldn't get comfortably into my jeans anymore so don't feel a fraud! I've bought some mat dresses in the sales but won't need to wear them till further down the line. I'm in mat leggings as I didn't want to stretch out my favourite normal leggings but tops are all normal tops still for now.

I'm finding I feel happier in quite figure hugging or stretch clothes that show off my bump-ette rather than trying to disguise it in loose stuff that just makes me feel big all over. So I'm glad that we aren't keeping it all a secret any more!

LadyFlashHeart · 31/07/2014 11:44

Thanks all! Reassuring to hear that others also get that detached from preg-reality feeling!

Sprout is 14 weeks too early for mat trousers? I needed to, but didn't let myself wear mat clothing until after 12-week scan (why?! who was I trying to impress?). It kind of felt like I wasn't allowed to wear them until then, and that I was wearing drag or something. I am sooo comfy now though. Mmmm elastic waists...

Babysprout · 31/07/2014 12:00

Oh you've all made me feel so much better!! I think it's just that my siblings who had children ages ago were saying they were barely changing shape by this stage and my sister in law stayed in her normal trousers the whole way through!

I'm going to go out and treat myself to some mat trousers today then Smile my waistline will be so happy!!

rumisyum I completely agree about other people's excitement - it really makes yoiu excited all over again. Telling my friends who are not even thinking babies yet was so cute because they were so thrilled at the thought of a little baby to play with whereas my parents for whom it will be grandchild no. 12 it was much less exciting!

Sprout, with DS I didn't wear mat clothes until 23/24 weeks. This time I had my mat jeans on at 8weeks. I still don't think I have much of a bump but my trousers just wouldn't do up! Tops are fine (although starting to get very stretched over boobs!)

16+1

Loobyloo893 · 31/07/2014 12:10

Mad I thought there were more boys already. I'm having another boy too Smile

Pesto11 · 31/07/2014 12:35

My trousers were tight since week 6/7
I've been in skirts since! That's why I've bought so much online yesterday- can't live in skirts through autumn and winter!
I'm a teacher and I think my TA suspected I was pg but didn't want to assume! I'm a size 10 and wearing size 12. Face is the same, boobs are HUGE and still sore and now I'm getting a bulging tummy. Stepped on the scales- I've put on half a stone already!

I didn't want to tell school headteacher until September so wanted to keep it as quiet as possible.

My mum just asked me today when am I going to start thinking of having a baby?!! Erm soon mum ... I'll think about it soon...
I want to show them the 20week scan photo as I tell them the news.

I don't like dh's family and they'll be in my face with advice and be a general annoyance so I can wait until someone outright asks me! They live 1 minute away so they're always around grr.

Madrigals Thanks, on reflection I'm really pleased they signed me off to.

SK28 Thank you. Yes sometimes it's hard to think rationally when your hormones are all over the place. But I'm doing just as told and resting. Lot's of PJ days ahead.

Saraswati Yes hopefully x

blizy Yes there is quite a bit more added stress and worry related to being self employed while signed off sick. Usually I find nothing but benefits of being self employed and being a mummy this is the first bump in the road so far.

Babysprout Thank you x

LadyCottington Thank you, that's really reassuring :)

sleepisforthetired Thats really kind of you. I have far more information today and thankfully it's not as bad as I had thought it would be, just need to jiggle my budget about a bit.

Mademoiselle Thank you for your message. It's so lovely to hear from you. You have been in my thought often. x

rumisyum I know your right just always worry about taking to many drugs even if they are prescription when pregnant and have taken more things this past few weeks than I think I did the whole of the last two years. That said I know I need to take the codeine. I'm hoping if it helps manage the pain that will help with my mobility and recovery etc...

Thank you to everyone for you lovely messages ... I spent all morning feet up on the sofa with a book while DS made an attempt at doing the washing up, laundry and making lunch bless him. Thankfully my mum is coming up to help a little later.

Hi

Glad you are feeling a little better about being signed off mummyk8 and hope you start to feel better soon. I was given quite a bit of codeine as well as a number of other painkillers when I was in hospital in June, and was assured by every consultant, my midwife and any professional person I could find to ask in that hospital that it was perfectly ok for baby and they wouldn't be giving it to me without discussing risks if there were any. I know you've had loads of reassurances, but just thought I'd add my 2 pence worth.

On a separate note, what's the name of the fb group, please? Kept meaning to find it, and never got round to it, and now I've forgotten the name (Pregnancy brain, anyone??)

Camsie30 · 31/07/2014 14:53

Anyone playing music to their bump yet? I've started mine on some Beatles and Nina Simone. Making a playlist of some songs that I want them to grow to love!

I know the gender but I'm not telling anyone!!

16 + 1

MademoiselleG · 31/07/2014 14:58

Thank you all for the nice waves, I'm still popping in once every couple if weeks to catch up on 'my' old thread... As you will probably remember, we had terrible news for our baby and made the decision to end the pregnancy as it would have been one very, very hard and painful life for him/her. Our baby was born on July 15th and cremated on the following Friday. It's the saddest thing we've ever done. We've gone away on holiday as a family to mend our broken hearts. We will ttc as soon as I'm given the green light.

I just hope and pray that statistically I've taken away the odds to have any more bad news from this thread. In cheering you on from afar and praying for beautiful, chubby cherubs in January.

Take good care ladies ThanksThanksThanksThanks

MademoiselleG · 31/07/2014 15:09

Didn't mean to be dragging you all down btw - we are dealing with it and being ok.
Do 100% carry on with the lovely chit chat about food, music, mat wear, gender, prams and other baby purchases, that is the way it should be and we've just been extremely unlucky.

All the very best to you all xxx

Mademoiselle Your post has really touched my heart that you are able to think so selflessly at such a hard time. I hope on your holiday you can find some peace and happiness and wishing all the best to your family Thanks Thanks

ViviPru · 31/07/2014 16:25

Oh Mademoiselle Ditto what littlecat said. How thoughtful of you. I'm glad that you have been able to get away and take a break. I hope your ttc journey goes well. Thanks

RPopz · 31/07/2014 18:06

tams1 send a msg to Jan Babies & whoever's currently managing that account will add you to the group. Unless they've sorted you already!

Camsie I've been playing Sufjan Stevens Seven Swans on threepeat to the little one. No idea why that particular album! I should start playing some calypso so s/he gets used to that part of his/her heritage, really. And develops a better sense of rhythm for dancing than their dearest father. Grin

Mademoiselle It's lovely that you still keep an eye on us. Your message was so moving. I hope you guys enjoy your holiday, and can soon meet your little one after this period of grief. xx

How exciting Mad! One of my friends is having her baby today and I'm so excited for them. I've got such baby fever. Grin

mademoiselle I had been thinking of you and the family Thanks Much love to you all xxx

Dec2013mummy · 01/08/2014 10:58

Mademoiselle it's so lovely of you to say such kind words when you are going through such a tough time personally. Sending a big hug your way.
I'm going away on Sunday for a week, just in England, but I now have so much to do and sort today!! Arhhhhhh! I think Ds stuff will take up all the space in the car!
I'm going to see my friend and her 3 week old in a bit though and I am so excited to have some new born snuggles again. Ds is 8 months this week and he is just so big now! (He's a proper chunky monkey)! I was just looking back at his new born photos and it really is crazy how quickly the time has gone!!

HenriettaTurkey · 01/08/2014 12:17

Afternoon everyone! Well we arrived back from holiday yesterday to find our cats have a flea infestation. Have sprayed etc but just found one crawling up my leg. Eww!!!

DS (2) has also come out in a mega rash, which we don't know if it's related to the fleas or not. It's raised pink itchy bumps in and around his hairline and the nape of his neck, and his nappy line. Could be fleas; could be something else - and I have no idea either if I need to avoid the lovely boy Hmm He's fine in himself, though, so may just be heat/sweat rash but it needs ruling out.

Waiting for GP to call us back. Tick tock.

15 weeks today. Grin

phoebs88 · 01/08/2014 13:48

Eek hope your little boy is ok Henrietta!

Mademoiselle-nice to hear from you. Hope you and your family are doing ok.

16w midwife appt today. Heard the hb Smile he/she kept wriggling around and kicking! So bizarre that I can't feel any of that yet!

HenriettaTurkey · 01/08/2014 13:51

Well we spoke to the GP and he says probably heat/sweat rash...it's what we had thought but obviously, even once you've ruled out meningitis, with a pregnancy you have to be a bit more cautious.

He says it's not chickenpox - although how he knows over the phone, I've no idea!

How lovely to hear the heartbeat. My MW app is a week today.
