Welcome sprout

I've started pregnancy pilates today - I'm not sporty at all and tbh I hated it! Boring, hard, tiring, uncomfortable. Can anybody tell me whether it gets better, and how useful it really is? The blurb for the course says it will help me have an easier pregnancy, fewer aches and pains, quicker labour, but I'm feeling sceptical and discouraged, thinking about dropping it.

Keepontrudging · 27/07/2014 19:21

Have a bit of time off if you need it rpopz. X
Welcome sprout!

Dec2013mummy · 27/07/2014 19:30

Hello babysprout. Congrats and welcome :) I am pg with my second but was and still am in the same position as you. I am the only one out of all my friends etc that is married and has a child. Since Ds came along (last dec) I have made a lot of new mummy friends by going to a couple of baby groups. I also have my 'old' friends who I am still close to, but the don't quite get it, not that I begrudge them at all for that as I didn't get it either until I had Ds!! I had awful morning sickness last time around but haven't been as bad this time thankfully! Still had 5 weeks of solid sickness but it has worn off a lot and only crops it's ugly head from time to time.
mummyk8 I have been thinking about you a lot today and really hope you are feeling a little better.
rpopz sorry to hear about your cat :( and your MIL sounds like she is being hard work. I'm glad your Dh is standing up to her. Don't let her get to you, now or when dc comes along.
Hope everyone else is doing ok! :)

SK28 · 27/07/2014 19:54

Hi babysprout! I'm in same position as you - first time mum and first of all our friends to embark on this adventure Smile I've been really tired but have also avoided ms, and the tiredness has got worse last two weeks which may be related to the heat? We are just starting to look at prams and all the other things we'll need - have you started browsing or shopping yet?

Camsie30 · 27/07/2014 20:10

Welcome BabySprout! First time Mum here too, but pretty much the last of all my friends, which is brilliant so far for advice and offers of tonnes of baby stuff! Exciting isn't it?! x

ilovelamp78 · 27/07/2014 20:17

Hi and welcome sprout I've pretty much been asleep since 7 weeks, starting to worry I'll be useless when baby arrives! Thankfully I seem to have missed out on the vomming and prolonged nausea. (Touch wood)

Anyway nice to have you on board x

Keepontrudging · 27/07/2014 21:02

On the subject of tiredness...

I am literally aching to the bones with tiredness / fatigue. I am getting bloods taken tomorrow to check thyroid levels are ok - meds will be adjusted if not. I am just wondering though, is this just the pregnancy? Any other ladies pregnant around 16 weeks and feeling increasingly shattered?

SK28 · 27/07/2014 21:09

Keep I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and I'm completely exhausted - have been since the start with no let up. If anything it's got worse. I have a mw appt on Thurs so might ask about it then, wondered if I may be anaemic or something. But maybe just overreacting!

Sk8- you very well could be and I urge you get it checked as I was in my last pregancy and it's very common. If you are it's no biggy, but the iron tablets will really help you out :)
I am going to ask then to check my iron levels again too tomorrow.

Mad- :( it's so difficult at times! I hate moaning as I am so happy and grateful in general about this pregnancy right now- but I honestly feel really, really exhausted. Is this normal? I wonder what causes it if so...

cheshirem2b · 27/07/2014 21:27

I was exhausted until week 10 then had a couple of ok weeks but tiredness kicked in again and I can't function without naps! Mw said last week my iron etc is fine so just a pg symptom for me... great!
After my light headed episodes today I'm already in bed watching the games on tv. Dh is on his way back from the Lakes.
You'd think after years of evolution we'd have reduced 9m into abt 3m wouldn't you?!

Emmie10 · 27/07/2014 21:44

Eek! Have just bought a pram. Went for the Bugaboo Donkey as dd will be 21 months when the baby arrives so will still need a seat!
I feel like the exhaustion is passing for me now but had a couple of weeks where I felt completely wiped.
14+2.

RPopz · 27/07/2014 21:51

Hope it's just something a meds tweak will cure Keep Must admit my tiredness has been lessening these past couple of weeks. Can stay awake past 9.30pm all of a sudden!!

Think it's time for me to hit my pit now though. Bit worried about how 3 days of stressing and crying is going to be affecting babypopz... Blush

mummyk8 · 27/07/2014 22:56

Mad me to. So tired just can't sleep.

Can't sleep the pain is really bad again. I'm not wonderful with pain but I'm not a total wimp either and this is just horrible. Hoping it doesn't get any worse before my Midwife appointment tomorrow morning don't think I can cope with going through what I wen't through last night at the hospital again.

Loobyloo893 · 28/07/2014 06:23

Oh mummyk8, hope u managed to get some sleep and are feeling a little better this morning. Hope midwife can reassure you today.

Emmie, I love the donkey! A friend has it and its fab. But DS will be nearly 3 so don't really need a double.

Babysprout · 28/07/2014 08:03

Morning!

dec2013 it's good to know you made new mummy friends - I'm a bit worried about being lonely on mat leave as we don't live close to family but I've been researching baby groups. How did you find out about ones in your area?

sk28 I think you're probably right about the heat. Also at work I just had to get on with it whereas now I can get away with napping all day if I want to! We've started looking at prams and found the whole thing overwhelming! We ventured in to mothercare and walked around in a daze at all the things we needed ( I just wanted to buy a changing bag- I understand bags!) and went to john Lewis which was more manageable because it has less choice!! Have you bought anything yet? What are you thinking re prams?

camsie30 that's so nice - baby will have a ready made play group :-)

ilovelamp78 I love your name :-) hope the tiredness lets up soon... Is it impacting you at work?

I think when children go through growth spurts they sleep a lot don't they? So I like to think of tiredness as sprout using my energy to grow...trying desperately to put a positive spin on it!!

Babysprout · 28/07/2014 08:05

What are your thoughts on finding out the gender? DH and I are undecided... We've got 5 weeks to decide!

Dec2013mummy · 28/07/2014 08:23

I found out about mine through my local children's centre. I went to one there and then got chatting to some mums who told me about baby sensory. It's brilliant :) we now also go to a swimming group, again which was mentioned at the other groups. Ds was poorly for the first 4 months so unfortunately we didn't start them till later than I would have liked but we are having great fun with them (off to baby sensory in an hour :) ). I am also a teacher so very much used to the hustle and bustle of lots of people every day and I have sometimes found it very lonely but I have to say, the more effort you make to have fun and meet people then the easier it gets :)

I am also beyond exhausted but I am also still getting up once a night at least with Ds! Oh they joys :? He's such a cute little munchkin though so I can't complain too much :)
We aren't finding out the sex. Didn't with Ds either. Dh would love to know but I like the surprise, plus I fear them getting it wrong!! Ha.
Hope everyone is ok today. Good luck with the midwife appointment mummyk8

blizy · 28/07/2014 08:39

Just popping in to say I'm thinking of you mummyk8.

I'm in the airport and off on my jollies. Hope you and mini bumps are all well, be back in a couple of weeks.

RPopz · 28/07/2014 08:54

Have a great hol Blizy Smile

Hope all goes well this morning Mummy xx

Saraswati · 28/07/2014 09:24

happy holidays blizy

Hope you are ok mummy and you get to see the midwife asap.

I'm also bone achingly tired ladies, I think the heat mixed with pregnancy is not good. Also I read somewhere the baby has a massive growth spurt between 16 - 20 weeks so maybe its that too? I seem to have doubled in size in the last couple of weeks, all my friends are delighting in telling me how huge i'm getting Angry

Also after losing weight and only just getting back to my pre pregnancy weight I've suddenly shot up 4 pounds in the last two weeks?! I'm blaming the baby having a growth spurt, my boobs are also massive so it must be that and not all the ice cream i've needed to keep me cool Wink

Welcome babysprout we are having a surprise over here too, got my scan in just over two weeks, already starting to feel the anxiety creeping in...

RPopz · 28/07/2014 09:31

Hello Sprout! How rude of me! We're having a surprise too (though I think it's a boy Wink). I'm also on the look out for mother and baby groups... no family in the area and most of my friends with kids are not in the area either!! X

ViviPru · 28/07/2014 09:43

Any sign of kitty RPopz? (I know, I know, you'd tell us if there was but I'm just worried on your behalf and dying to hear that she's home safe and well)

We have out 16 y/o niece staying with us this week doing work experience. It's 9.45 and she's still not out of bed yet - not the greatest start!Confused
