I never bothered with pump and dump - like moggle said if you stop at a sensible limit the % in milk is negligible, and I never want to drink enough to be unable to care for ds so wouldn't really go over a glass or two (normal size not mega 250ml glasses..)

Alita7 · 01/08/2014 18:51

I've been told that most of the reason for pump and dump is that the baby doesn't like the taste of alcohol?

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 02/08/2014 08:22

Just in case anyone hadn't seen Tesco have pampers bogof at mo n Tesco direct double up on clubcard vouchers so if order via Tesco direct you get a great deal I only had£7 of vouchers but made to £14 I got 2pks sz 1 n 2 of sz3 as sz 1 is 6.99 n others are 9.99

I also brought more in store as I had a £1 off pampers n £3 off £30 spend.

I have a 10p nappy rule and stuck to it throughout my first being in nappies got harder when in sz5 but wasn't in that as long as potty trained.

Vicky5910 · 02/08/2014 09:58

Anyone getting a present for older children 'from the baby'?
My husband says there's no gift shop in my uterus so clearly baby can't arrive with a present...
So I've compromised by saying we will get dd (4) a kids camera to capture special moments for the baby who will be too small to remember his or her first few months :)

WheresMrMonkey · 02/08/2014 11:24

A kids camera is such a lovely idea! Maybe stealing that one

Petal26 · 02/08/2014 11:26

east I made a special trip on Monday as I saw the nappy offer and Ben and Jerry's was BOGOF too :-)
I try to stick to 10p a nappy as well, since DD has been size 3 onwards we have used Lidl/Sainsburys own and never had any problems, will use Pampers for size 1 and 2 like I did last time just incase bump is sensitive!
I think the offer's on until 5/8 so might go and get some more, stock up! :-)

Alita7 · 02/08/2014 12:04

I'm going to get dsd a pregnant barbie. But I'm not sure what to get when he's born :/

moggle · 02/08/2014 15:34

Ah, my lovely dad has come over to help me in the garden :-) it's definitely getting more uncomfortable to bend over!

Vicky5910 · 02/08/2014 16:23

Haha go for it Monkey!
Alita I had one of those when I was small, loved it!

Petal26 · 02/08/2014 17:53

Really struggling to find anything I want to eat, everything seems to taste funny (apart from cheese, could eat nothing but cheese at the moment!)
Had a breakthrough this afternoon, made 2 batches of Oatmeal and Raisin cookies, aaahhhh, they aren't going to last the weekend :-)

Vicky5910 · 02/08/2014 18:49

I'm struggling too Petal. Food is tricky. Husband face is trying to tihnk of good dinners for me but his incessant asking 'would this be ok? How about this?' coupled with my hormones is causing some strife around here...!

WheresMrMonkey · 02/08/2014 19:51

I'm just finding it impossible to plan meals, my brain just doesn't seem capable of planning in anyway! Gets confused then gives up, so eat a lot of toast!

Alita7 · 02/08/2014 19:56

I love cooking and I'm always planning meals but they seem to take longer than I anticipate :p

Strawberryfield12 · 02/08/2014 20:11

I was in strange relationship with food first trimester, seemed that food didn't taste. I just could not enjoy it properly. One minute I would think, yeah, I will it fish. When fish was cooked, took me two forkfuls to realise, that it was DISGUSTING!
Since it has gone away, I am facing a different problem - I've started to miss all the blacklisted products: Mediterranean cured hams, smelly cheeses etc

Petal26 · 02/08/2014 21:02

vicky I think it might be alright if a

Petal26 · 02/08/2014 21:05

Oops, try again...
It might be alright if someone was cooking for me.
I'm really resenting cooking the evening meal for DD and DH at the moment because I just don't want to eat :-(
Mighty have to make an effort with some new recipes or something...

amy83firsttimer · 03/08/2014 09:03

We went and collected all our handmedown stuff from SIL yesterday evening. She's so organised so everything's got instructions and everything even though some of it's 7 years old. Got the mamas and papas pliko pramette and it's so complicated!!! She's also given us 3 huge boxes of clothes. 2 of baby stuff and 1 of winter maternity clothes including a winter coat. So lucky. and stingy

OP posts:
Annarose2014 · 03/08/2014 12:01

So lucky amy!

I'm very very stingy, and can't bear the thought of buying a coat that'll only fit me for a couple of months. I think I may do the grotty thing of just borrowing one of my Dad's enormous anoraks. So much for a Kate Middleton pregnancy wafting about in wedges! Grin

Of course if New Look have a coat for 19.99 or something then maybe.....

After a couple of truly horrendous days on the wards where I was so stiff I could barely move by the end of it and it was so chaotic and "front-line-ish" that I came home in tears, I am now spending the entire day in bed. Lots of tea, Sunday Times and a dog snoring on the bed beside me. Bliss!

I have noticed though that I am starting to wear my dressing gown like
Winston Churchill - tied up under the boobs. Ugh!

amy83firsttimer · 03/08/2014 12:38

I do that with my dressing gown too. See also tying your cardi or jumper round your waist 'underbump'. It's a strange new world of getting dressed!

I want to get DD something but not sure what. She has a camera, she has lots of "big sister" stuff already, she has had lots of "big" gifts for birthdays and Christmases which her "father" takes and hides from her the cruel bastard Sad and I really have no idea. She's too young for special jewellery, she'll only break or lose it, she's become so stoical under her "father's" influence that I can't tell what she's happy or excited about and what she's being polite over, it's really hard!

utopian99 · 03/08/2014 20:33

mrsdj what about giving her an experience/ trip/day out to somewhere she's always longed to go/do? That way there's no way her father can take away the memories and it's still something special for her?

Strawberryfield12 · 03/08/2014 21:36

Wanted to ask what are you going to do with the whooping cough vaccine, which NHS are offering from wk 28-32?
I am in all ways pro vaccinating, but I am bit worried about having vaccines during pregnancy. While MWs and GPs will assure that the vaccines have been tested, I still think that it might be very difficult to predict how the body reacts to it.
Also my previous experience with vaccination during pregnancy isnt that brilliant. When my mum was in last weeks with me there was a program in the country (not UK) to vaccinate all pg women against staphylococcus, as a result hospitals were full with newborns ill with the same. Me too. For two weeks I have been on the edge between living and not.
Last autumn I was pregnant for the first time, got flu jab and week later I had a miscarriage. Nobody ever checked if there was anything to do with the jab. In fact it took two days (!) until I finally received a medical care and was told I was miscarrying. They simply sent me home to bleed it off.

Obviously, I am scared to get any vaccines while pregnant now, but I am worried also about possibility that my baby would contract it before getting vaccine. I would not be able to forgive myself not vaccinating. I really don't know what to do...

Alita7 · 03/08/2014 22:01

Well strawberry, I'm also not sure and I think I'll have to have a chat with dp about it. This one is supposed to give baby immunity when baby is born and It is going to be November so I feel I should but for some reason I'm not convinced.
