Jump aboard ladies.

amy83firsttimer · 29/07/2014 13:02

Thanks everyone. Trying to focus on non-baby stuff today while keeping busy. Keep her in your prayers if you're that way inclined.

PosyFossilsShoes · 29/07/2014 13:57

So sorry to hear that Amy.

Elliekins · 29/07/2014 15:08

Oh Amy, that is just so awful, my thoughts are with her and you.
I just don't know how you get through something like that.

WheresMrMonkey · 29/07/2014 16:49

I'm so sorry amy

amy83firsttimer · 29/07/2014 18:19

Time for positivity please or I may cry forever.
Positives for me today. 1) had a good nap.
2) bought some healthy foods including linseed for making lactation cookies (Google it if unsure!) 3) got rid of lots of old books freeing up space for baby clutter.

Anyone fancy joining in the positivity?

Petal26 · 29/07/2014 18:38

Ok :-)
Positives today 1) Sold the guest bed in spare bedroom so can finally begin to sort it out, get toddler furniture in and move DD out of the nursery.
2) DD was unusually obliging and we had a 2 hour nap
3) My cold seems to be on it's way out!

Petal26 · 29/07/2014 18:40

Thanks pink for the suggestion, I am pretty rural so not overrun with classes but have emailed a few yoga teachers today :-)

AnnaBananaBoo · 29/07/2014 20:07

:-) My positives are....1. I've just managed 30 lengths in the pool. 2. DH has come up with a lovely new possible name to add to the baby names list :-)

amy83firsttimer · 29/07/2014 20:12

Ooh we have names sorted I think. The boy name is the singer's name from one of our favourite bands but also a cool name in its own right (we think), the girl name is very traditional so they seem an odd pairing. How's everyone else doing with names?

OP posts:
BrandSnob · 29/07/2014 20:13

Evening Ladies!

Sorry to hear about your friend Amy. My thoughts are with both if you Thanks

Been a busy few days. DHs totally unsuitable 2 door convertible is effectively sold, just one more unsuitable car to go. Time to grow up and be sensible lol.

Jellybean has been overly active the past few days. Waking me up around 2 most nights with monster kicks, even DH is impressed at how much he can feeling the outside. My mum said it's a sign of things to come as that's the time he'll be waking up in the night. Please be an old wives tale!

Work have asked me to decide what to do with my remaining holiday days. I have approx 23 days remaining. Im due to start mat leave on 3 Nov, EDD 13 Nov which might be too close. I'm very tempted to take the days beforehand as I've already had enoughAngry, but that's a long time to sit around waiting. The alternative is being paid for them in March 15 when my holiday year ends. Extra money is always nice, but I also value my sanity over the next 3 months. decisions...decisions

Apologies for the long post, it's been a while. Sorry for anyone I've missed.

haventgotaclue1 · 29/07/2014 20:23

Well I think we have names sorted - first names and middle names for both whether it's a girl or a boy. DH is in agreement with the girl's name and says the boy's name "is growing on him".... Wink

AnnaBananaBoo · 29/07/2014 20:23

Must be nice to have decided in the names...we're still deciding on names for DD but seem to generally agree on girls names which is good as we really couldn't agree on boys names!

I really hope the waking up at night is an old wives tale as she is at her most active at night too!

It is so difficult to decide when to go on mat leave as it's hard to know how we're going to feel nearer the EDD!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 29/07/2014 20:30

I finish work for mat leave wk before due date but using 4weeks annual leave to finish mid Oct. I also have a wk n bit off in seven plus a week of half days so all good

barmybunting · 29/07/2014 20:47

Amy, I am so sorry to hear about your friend and her little one. How terribly sad, and very hard for you to hear at the moment. My thoughts are with you.

Well done on trying to focus on positives. I will join you.

  1. Have spent a lovely long weekend with friends visiting 2. Enjoyed lunch with another friend 3. DH managed to take an hour out of studying tonight to go for a long walk together and just chat.
ToniWol · 29/07/2014 21:04

Amy - so sorry to hear about your friend.

We've chosen names for both a girl and a boy, but aren't sharing with anyone (I remember how my sister was one name until she was born, and then it changed).

Going on Mat leave at 36 weeks, although as I have 6 days A/L left I'll probably take the week before off as that, and use the other day up at some point over the next two months.

Have just ordered a bump band. Oddly enough John Lewis appear to have the black Cantaloop one's the cheapest. I need it as Craghopper trousers will no longer fasten without a bobble extension so would rather not have my bump on view at Guide camp next week.

Have been to Aquanatal tonight - now sitting here having eaten tea and trying to eat a bit more as I've got to fast from 10pm for the Glucose Tolerance Test tomorrow morning.... Sad

Alita7 · 29/07/2014 21:10

Positives today

  1. I got the day off (Although this means I have to go to London on Monday when I was supposed to have finished)
2 . I made an awesome blackcurrant and strawberry crumble :)
  1. dp has hinted that this crumble was an aphrodisiac... we haven't dtd for at least a month so fingers crossed :p
ladydolly · 29/07/2014 21:28

We've had a name chosen since about 13 weeks, we didn't even make it to boys names we were so sure she was a girl. Middle name after dp's nain.

Positivity. 1. So grateful for an active baby, kicks all day long make me feel very close to her. 2. Nursery furniture ordered and arrives next week! 3. Found my missing potato peeler in my desk drawer at work - yes I'm losing my mind but nice to have it back anyway.

ladydolly · 29/07/2014 21:28

Anyone dare

ladydolly · 29/07/2014 21:29

Oops!

Anyone dare share names? We've not told anyone in RL.

amy83firsttimer · 29/07/2014 21:56

I'm not shy!!! Milo or Alice.

OP posts:
TwigletFiend · 29/07/2014 22:20

Me neither! Jasmine or Evie if it's a girl bean, Archie or Harry if it's a boy :-)

Petal26 · 29/07/2014 22:31

Keeping it a secret in RL.... for the last 5 weeks bump has been known as Zachary (between me and DH) :-)

Mumonabroom · 30/07/2014 01:25

Hi, have been trying to catch up after weeks of forgetting to. Pregnancy #3, proper baby brain scenario. Amy sorry to hear about friend. So sad.
My 3 positives today are 1) going to work to enjoy some aircon later 2) loving my new fitbit step counter and 3) starting to get nursery sorted - cot up, wardrobe up and a guy coming to collect old m&s wardrobe to make more room later.

ladydolly · 30/07/2014 09:07

Wow good taste on the thread, they're all gorgeous names. Threw a few of them around ourselves before settling on Orla. Middle name Lillie after DP's nain.

I'm 'allowed' an extra middle name since I always wanted to give a strong female from history's name (DP says not everything is a feminist issue like I make out but I disagree :) ) so I'm thinking about Emmeline...

Greenstone · 30/07/2014 09:41

amy83 I'm just so sorry about your friend. It is everyone's worst nightmare.

Lovely names on the thread so far. We just about have a girl's name picked and sort of have a boy's name. I think we are less sure about the boy's name but it is a family name and in a way that kind of makes it easier. We'll see when the time comes! (I don't think I'm brave enough to share though...)

lady I've always really loved the name Orla! For years and years it was quite a common name over here in Ireland - not so much these days, but it is interesting to me that there's a growing interest in the name elsewhere. I'm not surprised: it's really very pretty.

Mumonabroom, can you tell me a bit more about your fitbit step counter please?

Postives: 1) long weekend coming up for me: both Friday and Monday off, yay!

  1. DD was just so lovely this morning, even though she's 2 and a handful, she is so darn cute. She's also gone off to the CM looking completely adorable and cool after a morning bath.

  2. Had super virtuous dinner last night of roasted sweet potato chips, organic salad, and a poached egg. My eating hasn't been the best over the last week or so (too much sugar) so I'm taking every chance to congratulate myself where I can Wink

(As for negatives, they shall not be named but can all be filed under Shitty Fucking Work)
