Hot topics - useless DH/DPs and pickled onion monster munch!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
geordiemacminx · 18/09/2006 12:00

Im 8 weeks tomorrow... edd is 1/5 but there seems to be a lot more going on over here than in the May thread.
7+6???

mammyjo · 18/09/2006 12:01

I was 12 weeks yesterday so am I 12+1 or 12+2 today. Find this week and day thing too confusing for my preg brain to cope with!!
I have my 12 week scan next Monday so I will actually be just over 13 weeks. I have also got my consultant appointment on the same day but 2.5 hours later which is a pain with having to pick up ds from school somewhere in the middle.

Glad I am not the only one who will be bawling at the school gate! Ds is back home now and came out of school beaming after having a fab time. They dont stress over it do they, its just us!

Bramshott · 18/09/2006 12:05

Ah sod the dates thing - we're having babies!! That's the main thing!

Greengirlforever · 18/09/2006 12:06

I concur with Bramshott!!

geordiemacminx · 18/09/2006 12:07

And I would pu money on the fact that none of us will actually give birth on our "due date"!!! Still its a lovely time of year to be having a baby though, not too hot, just nice for taking baby out in the pram!!

bubbaloo · 18/09/2006 12:09

Greengirl-That's really useful to know about the iron levels, thanks.
I actually have pernious anaemia and have quarterly jabs to control it,so it may be connected-I'll mention it next time I'm at the doc's/midwife.I also had iron tablets last time, but after trying 3 different types that had me rushing to the loo,I gave up and just ate plenty of greens instead.

Oh..and I'm 8+4 btw.

CornflakeKid · 18/09/2006 12:18

Have just done a pg caledner thing and it says 10+2!

AngeG · 18/09/2006 12:19

Hi everyone welcome to all the new people. Hope you have a great pg.

The going to the toilet problem hasn't happened to me in fact it's more like the other way sorry if TMI.

Bubbaloo so glad your cat has returned. I expect she/he just wanted to make you feel bad for abandoning her and having a holiday.

I am 11 weeks+ 1 today. Got my 12 week nuchal scan (privately) on the 26th September a week tuesday I think. I can't wait it will be so nice to have the reasurrance that something is there and all these symptoms are not just in my head!

AngeG · 18/09/2006 12:25

Bramshott snap on due date!

I think that makes us 11+1 today then 12 on sunday. If we were 11+2 today that would make us 11+7 on saturday which wouldn't be right. Hope that helps everyone!

mammyjo · 18/09/2006 12:30

Ok, so that makes me 12+1 then. Thanks for clearing that up!!

doobydoo · 18/09/2006 13:44

Great news re Tigger.I think i am 10+ 5 today.I will be 11 weeks on Wednesday.
I have been having a racing heart too. It's quite disconcerting and can be hard to get comfy.I think our blood volume increases by something like 25% at this stage so that could explain it in part.My doc said its common in pregnancy.
I haven't heard anything from my hospital yet.I have had bloods taken but thats it!
Good luck for scans ladies.
I wonder where Bucky is.

PeaJay · 18/09/2006 16:42

Hi everyone. I had my first MW appointment today, although not sure why! She gave me forms and leaflets, took DOB, address, height weight etc and then said the regular MW would call to arrange an appointment at home - I did worry when all of you were talking about homes visits etc. I suppose that it does make me officially pregnant!! DH was worried he was a bad father for not coming with me, but I'm so glad that he didn't waste his time. I suppose it has helped to put my mind at rest about the abdo pains I've been having, so it was a bit useful!

Bubbaloo - I'm quite breathless too - I put it down to the fact that I haven't been to the gym for the past 8 weeks! Maybe I should get it investigated.

Doghouse - I've been told to go to NCT classes by loads of people, if only to meet other mums-to-be. I work full time and know no-one in my area so I think it will be a good idea.

Scan tomorrow. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. I'm not sure I'll be able to look at the screen until they tell me there is something there. DH says it will feel 'real' when we have the scan, and I agree. I know a PG test is confirmation, but a scan is actual proof isn't it?

Tiredness has improved over the past couple of days, and nausea not as bad. I need to 'bloom' now - I have exams next week and revising has been sooo hard!

Have a good evening everyone!

11+5 (by my calculations!)

bubbaloo · 18/09/2006 17:42

Peajay-I've had 2 midwife appointments now and neither of them has been at home.I also took a sample with me both times, but they didn't want to test it.The first midwife asked me my height which I roughly know and then asked me how much I weigh which she took my word for and I was quite surprised she never weighed me as I am rather on the large side.
She asked me the usual questions about my health and last pregnancy and then said,"ok,your scan will be on the 10th Oct and if you have any probs here's the duty midwife's pager number" and sent me on my way,so I've no idea really when I'll be seeing the midwife again, although I know I need to see my doc at 20 weeks.I'm not really having any problems but it's definately alot different to when I was pg with ds,who was only born last year.I think they must think we know it all, after having one baby-either that or they know we get plenty of info from Mumsnet.

CaptainDippy · 18/09/2006 17:57

Ah - sod the dates - I am just delighted to be PG!!! Think I am almost 9 weeks or something - EED April 26th, 12 week scan w/c 9th Oct - haven't acutally found time to phone up and book it yet ; but the Sonographers at our local hospital are bloody 'orrible anyway, so what does it matter!!? Feeling fat and sick and weird; but ok!!

Greengirl - Soooooooooo pleased I am not alone with the PG hubby - you have no idea how that post made me feel!! Superb - we can moan together. We've been to the farm for a Birthday Party today (DH got the day off work), DH is now "exhausted" - "I need a little lie down...." WHATEVER!!!?

Also v.out-of-breath too - was v.aneamic (can't spell!!) with DD1 so is poss. Tried to walk to playground with DD's in double pushchair the other day - nearly killed me!!!!! Feel quite pathetic - just walking up stairs causing me to huff and puff - how tragic - I am normally quite fit!!!! Argh!!

Hope everyone is all ok!! Best go and "help" poor, exhasuted DH >

CaptainDippy · 18/09/2006 17:59

I've seen midwife for booking in so far and will be due to see her again at 16 weeks - Actually 16 weeks will be the 1st time I've met her as she sent a student to do my booking, made me a little bit cos I was v.poorly treated by my m/w last time I was PG.

CornflakeKid · 18/09/2006 18:00

Have been to doctors again (persistent!) about urine/kidney pains etc - the sample from last week was clear but the one I did today wasn't so now have some cefadroxil (sp) to take for 5 days - which has calmed me down a bit as thought may go into prem labour due to kidney infection - only minor panic! Going back and asking questions def pays as I could have waited another week for the results to come back and it could have got worse. I am lucky to have a brilliant doctors here. I was tempted to kiss them all as I left!

Desperate to go to bed - but dh away and boys not that compliant!

My midwife (not seen yet this time) is the silent type and just smiles/hmmms when you say anything to her or ask any questions - kind of passive/non-interested approach to maternity care - would never have her in labour because I go to the main hosp and she is based at the community hosp - think would get quite cross with her if was in labour!

Need sleep, need sleep, need sleep.....

hollyhobbie · 18/09/2006 18:50

Hi all,
phew! just been reading for ages to catch up with this thread. In-laws were visiting at the weekend, so I didn't have time to look online.
I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and celebrated being so close to the magic '12' by throwing up for the first time in ages on saturday. Not helped by MIL then saying, "you have to eat something..." - I'd just thrown up 5 mins before!
Scan on Weds morning - it will make it feel more real, like you said, PeaJay, but to be honest in the last few days my belly has suddenly got bigger, and the urge to stroke it is there, so even without the scan I suddenly feel pregnant, which (apart from the queasyness/tiredness) I haven't felt for the last 12 weeks.
That's all for now...
HH
(11+6)

PS/ I use this to figure out my weeks+days. The figure at the bottom always has it written in that format.

weeonion · 18/09/2006 20:45

wow - monday has been a busy day! i was looking forward to reading this thread tonight - it didnt disappoint.
re the brethlessness - it may not be the reason but our blood pressure lowers when pg. i already have low bp and my doc warned me that i might get more breathless when pg??
the posts bout constpiation made me and lol. i have been trying punes and porridge - no results as yet and pretty yuk!
geordiemacminx - where is the railway club - in glasgow? sounds lush??

i was looking through a pg bok on way home - and said that by this stage (9 =3)there should be no difference to body shape / size. ahem - i think by what we are saying here - there is changes? i think my bum and hips ahev expanded - has anyone elses?

CaptainDippy · 18/09/2006 21:17

My body shape has definitely changed loads already!!! Definite fatty tummy - have had a few people guess already!

Thank you for your comments about the breathlessness / low BP too - that could be it, you know - when the midwife came round to do my Booking In, she took my BP and said, "nice and low" - so there you go!!

Thank you for the link to the PG Calculator - I am 8+4 according to that, which sounds about right - although about 4 months gone by the size of me!!!!

elkiedee · 18/09/2006 23:55

Hi all, thanks for the welcomes, have had a really dreadful internet connection over the weekend, thankfully it's almost back to normal now but I have limited energy, ability to sit up at the computer, and I work all day as a secretary.

I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow. I've not told many people yet, and only one person at work who isn't someone I work directly with but in my day job, but my union convenor. I'm dithering whether to tell my manager this week before I go on holiday next Tuesday, or when I return from holiday and have had my first scan (arrive back on Wednesday, scan Thurs 12/10 at 12 weeks and 2 days, work Friday).

I don't think my body shows it yet but I'm wondering if anyone has noticed that I look a funny shade of green and that I want to curl up and die at my desk much of the time... it will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I started feeling weird enough to think my period might not just be irregular as it normally is/was.

I'm still quite scared about things going wrong at this stage, I probably would have to take more time off and tell immediate managers and the PA who sends our attendance records off to Personnel why, but I really don't want to tell everyone and then have to have too many people know it's gone wrong.

The other thing I'm surprised no one has commented on at work is that I haven't been eating my usual Hula Hoop fix in the office. I've not given up eating crisps altogether but it's a case of will nick my boyfriend's if they're in front of me and he's eating a sort I like, but only a couple of bags on my own in 3 weeks. This is freaky from a real crisp fiend normally!

Luci

bubbaloo · 19/09/2006 09:47

Bubblez and Peajay(and anyone else)-good luck with your scans today.

liath · 19/09/2006 10:22

Morning all - hope today's scans go well .

Glad your cat came back, Bubb! My sister has 2 off the b*ggers and they keep disappearing on her!

Hope those antibiotics kick in, Cornflake & you start feeling better.

MS seems to be wearing off a bit, hooray. Get completely wiped out in the afternoons though. Tons of energy in the mornings - I've been frantically cleaning all morning so far with dd "helping", bless her ! She's got a very peculiar rash at the moment so of course I'm worrying that it's some virus that will infect & damage the unborn baby. Neurotic - moi??

OP posts:
geordiemacminx · 19/09/2006 10:26

Very of all you lot that are at home. I'm sat here at work, my trousers are too tight, I cant get comfortable on this stupid chair and people keep bringing stinking food into the office that makes me want to heave!!!

Liath, I know I've probably asked you this before but where are abouts in sunny scotland are you?

CornflakeKid · 19/09/2006 10:51

Good luck with scans today

The antibiotics have worked wonders - I feel soooo much better - nearly human.

Liath - hope dd's rash disappears soon!

mammyjo · 19/09/2006 10:54

Morning! Good luck to those who are having scans today, hope all is well.
Ds off to school again this morning - told me he was poorly and couldnt go but when I asked was he really poorly he said no he was fibbing! Little bugger!! Only 3 years old and already trying to throw a sickie! Silly thing is that he had a fab time yesterday and didnt stop talking about school and his teacher all afternoon.
