great news angeg!
i am [envy} at those who have broke the news - both DP and i live away from our homeland so i am really keen to go home all blooming and break the news to the folks as it'll be the first GS /GD. havent told work yet - i am the only women amongst 12 men and whilst they are usually lovely - they can be a caustic bitchy lot. i cry at anything at the mo so if one of them made anything less than a gooey / lovely remark - there'd be tears everywhere!

CaptainDippy · 11/09/2006 22:01

HOW many posts already!!!? Not really feeling "part" of this group yet though Do you all love me or should I go and eat worms??

CaptainDippy · 11/09/2006 22:02

Yey for Cornflakekid btw - Great news honey!!

liath · 11/09/2006 22:40

Worm cravings, Captain Dippy - now that sounds serious - you must be expecting quads !! I'm sure we all feel more or less the same, the thread is moving very fast!

Weeonion - that's a heck of a commute. A friend of mine is doing the opposite and going to Glasgow every day and is 12 weeks pg - I think she's looking forward to mat leave!

Must go to bed...

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2006 07:45

I feel like I'm expecting Quads - massive saggy, fatty belly!

mammyjo · 12/09/2006 09:09

Morning all. CD dont feel left out. I only catch up on the thread every few days when I have to work and feel the same really. I just like the fact that I can come here and find out that most of you feel as crap as I do!!

doghouse · 12/09/2006 09:35

I don't know why I didn't come on her sooner ... can't believe the difference it has made to actually 'chat' to people in exactly the same position. And ellieK (and I mean this in the nicest possible way) so good to hear someone else suffering with spots on chest and unable to show off (even more than usual) ample cleavage! It just makes you feel less of a freak you know?!
HollyHobbie (love the name!) - wonder if I will be able to have a doppler at my mw appt this afternoon as my scan won't be til I am 14weeks and I am desperate to tell everyone! We are just keeping it between the two of us (and the dog!) at the moment but I know that feeling ... just want to blurt it out!

CornflakeKid · 12/09/2006 09:59

Morning everyone - EllieK - to save to favourites - when you are on this thread - simply click on favourites at top of your screen - click add to favourites then it will come up with the long mumsnet description - just change to whatever name you want - then it will appear on your list of favourites on left hand side of screen hthxx

Weeonion - walkers chicken crisps are the only flavoured crisps that contain no animal fat at all! I found that out last time I was pg as I craved them. And a big welcome by the way!

I didn't get as far as my jacket potato last night - yakked into kitchen bin! DH1 woke me up in the night - so feeling a bit tired - supposed to be painting ds1 room - maybe one coat will be okay!!

Have a good day everyone!

doobydoo · 12/09/2006 09:59

at lemonade ice lollies EllieK[i can't find em]I found a lolly with 3 different flavours in sections and 2 of em had that lemonade taste tho!
I ate ham on sunday and i have been veggie since i was 12[25 years]I ate chicken when preg with ds as well.
Hope we are all well today and welcome to any newbies. This thread is moving fast isn't it?

Bramshott · 12/09/2006 10:03

Hi guys. I'm enjoying reading through the new thread, but every time some mentions pickled onion monster munch it makes me want to heave!

Made a revelatory discovery the other day - brushing my teeth in the evening has been risky for a few weeks, and has made me throw up a few times. I thought it was the action of poking around in my mouth that did it, but have discovered it's actually the spitting out which brings on the retching!! So if I can manage to do the whole manoevre with only one "spit", it's all much better! Sorry if that's TMI for some, but it was a revelation to me!!

Have such bad indigestion today - every time I move it's like a whip cracking across my whole upper body! Ho hum.

CornflakeKid · 12/09/2006 10:05

Is anyone else convinced about what sex their baby is? I am sure it's a girl - there are 8 grandsons and no girls at all - so the pressure is on - and we're not going to find out!

CornflakeKid · 12/09/2006 10:07

Bramshott - pmsl re the toothpaste - I would be sick trying to hold it all in my mouth!

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2006 10:17

Elliek and doghouse - I have the horrid spots all over my chest too - some nasty whiteheads too - absolutley foul - so glad it is not just me!!!

Have my driving test this morning - absolutely terrified!!!!! Feeling pretty sick, so hoping this eases soon so I'll be able to concentrate properly, eeeek!!

Think of me at 11.40!! .......

Bramshott · 12/09/2006 10:21

Good luck Captain Dippy - will be thinking of you! I really hate driving tests, and I did 6.

Cornflakekid - I'm quite keen to find out what we're having, but DH really doesn't want to so we probably won't. I think we both secretly think it's a girl though, although would love either. Sometimes I find myself thinkin about it as a boy though, I think because I know it will be different from DD, if that makes any sense?!

geordiemacminx · 12/09/2006 10:22

Thought I would crash your thread for a while... I'm on the May one but its pretty quiet at the moment, hope thats ok. I'm covered in spots too, although they are on my face which is nice. I just wish I could resist the urge to pick at them - then maybe I wouldnt be covered in horrible make-up covered scabs!! (sorry tmi)

CD - good luck with your driving test... it took me 4 attempts to pass mine.. couldnt imagine having to do it now... especially with all these hormones and sickness!!! Can just imagine it now
INSTRUCTOR: Can you turn left at the lights please
ME: whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa sob sob sob sob...

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2006 10:23

Thanks guys - soooo nervous!!

doghouse · 12/09/2006 10:32

I always thought I would want to wait until the birth to find out the sex but DH cannot wait (typical) so I have said OK but we keep it between ourselves. A friend of mine had hers in March and we all knew the sex AND name beforehand ... such an anti climax when she arrived! Would love either but secretly would like a girl!
Am going to see if mw can suggest anything for spots at appt this afternoon but suspect nothing she can do and fingers crossed it will pass soon.

Good luck with driving test Capt Dippy!

CornflakeKid · 12/09/2006 10:33

Good luck CD - fingers and toes crossed x

mammyjo · 12/09/2006 13:09

CD, how did it go? Hoping it went ok for you.

twinkle183 · 12/09/2006 13:47

Good luck with your driving test CD, I am sure that your be fine!!!

Complete disaster last decided to dye my hair brown as am usually mousey blonde... Used a henna bar and I am now sitting here typing this with green hair!!! Not sure what to do now... I am so and upset, sat crying for about half an hour last night wondering what to do!!!!??? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Otherwise am not feeling too pregnant at the mo, just the occassional triedness.. Sickness has completely gone - anyone else feeling like this... Also wondering whether anyone else on this thread is from sunny cornwall?

Take care everyone!

geordiemacminx · 12/09/2006 13:54

Poor twinkle...feeling pretty crappy at the moment too... cant be bothered with any personal maintainace at the moment - consequently I look like a hairy spotty troll with skanky hair and crap nails
Re your hair - if you can afford it I would go to the hairdressers - a decent one.. while you might be able to sort it yourself the last thing you want is to make it worse... a hairdresser will be able to fix it for you, and also it means minimal effort from you. I know you are supposed to be careful with hair dye in pregnancy but I'm sure it will be ok, as you wont be bleaching and its not like you will be dying it every week.

weeonion · 12/09/2006 14:00

twinkle 183 - i am not sure if it works for a henna but i know that head and shoulders can calm down a chemical dye. just rang a hairdresser friend - she suggested getting some "rubbing alcohol" from the chemist ( the kind to sterilise pre-jabs) and put it in a spray bottle. spray in dry hair, rinse out and rpeat. it should lessen it. she also said make sure you have plenty of conditioner to hand. hope that helps.

my roots are showing through at an alarming rate but i'm not sure about slapping on my loreal any more - any advice??

geordiemacminx · 12/09/2006 14:08

I've just coloured mine (well I got my mum to do it when she visited for the weekend). I have no evidence that its safe or not, but I'm sure if it was bad we would know about it.... I think if you try and limit the amount of time its on to the bear minimum and the frequency that you do it then it should be ok, but like I said I'm sure there will be someone else that will know more than me..

EllieMayW · 12/09/2006 15:49

Hi everyone, keeping a low profile today as feel yuk and especially very fat and blobby. Am right with you Geordie. I am however interested in the hair dye thing as I was going to get mine done to cheer me up and I found this NHS Direct Alert: Have copied and pasted the whole thing so apologies for long post:

"There are very few studies of hair dye use during human pregnancy. In animal studies, at doses 100 times higher than what would normally be used in human application, no significant changes were seen in fetal development. We know that only a small amount of any product applied to your scalp is actually absorbed into your system and therefore, little would be available to get to the developing baby. In addition, many women have dyed their hair during pregnancy with no known reports of negative outcomes. This information, in combination with the minimal absorption through the skin makes hair treatment in pregnancy unlikely to be of concern.?

I am going to get mine done.

p.s. DH thinks that he is super Husband/Dad to be as he has bought me 24 bags of Red pickled onion monster munch! Dare not tell him that the thought of that many makes me feel ill!!!

p.p.s. CD - how did it go?! Are you out driving?!

geordiemacminx · 12/09/2006 16:00

Well the NHS thingy is good enough for me!!! While I would never want to do anything that put my unborn baby at risk, I do think that we are living in a worry culture and there is too much scare mongering going on.. I'm sure in 20 years time the advice they give to pregnant ladies will be completly different to that given now.. as my mum was told to eat lots of liver when she was preggers with me..I was going to say that I turned out ok.. but well that is a matter of opinion.

Poor dh's.... they just cant seem to get it right, mine asked me if I was ok at lunch time which prompted me to burst into tears. He then told me that we should book a holiday, somewhere nice and warm... didnt have the heart to tell him that at the moment, feeling as fat and sick as I do, the last thing I want is to be anywhere other than my own little house.

Also reminded me, I sent him out for galaxy chocolate last week.... they didnt have any... so he brought me one of those tinned Heinz chocolate puddings... bless him... again didnt have the heart to tell him that I would rather have eaten my own toes... gonna have to "dispose" of it on the pretense that I have eaten it to spare his man-type feelings
