I blurted it out to my boss after my 12 month scan, it was just such a relief to be able to finally say it. Since then I've been gradually telling close colleagues, but word spreads like wildfire so most people knew within days of telling my boss.

ViviPru · 18/07/2014 15:59

That's interesting RPopz, I forget they often look quite different in the flesh...

Saraswati · 18/07/2014 16:02

We went out to get coffee and i was showing her a pic of me holding my friend's baby and she said 'ooo you'd make a lovely mum you look so good with a baby' and i just didn't really say anything and looked awkward and she said 'have you got something to tell me?' so I told her. She's my closest pal at work so I think I can trust her although I've only been working here for 5 months.

It's not all bad actually as we are going out next friday to celebrate both of our birthdays (mine is on weds) and she said she'll help me cover. Then the boss will be back the week after so I'll tell her, tell hr then I can be open at work. I asked her if she had guessed before that and she said she honestly hadn't and no one else had said anything to her (she's the office gossip they would have if they suspected). She said you couldn't tell by looking at me, but I think she was being nice, I look massively pregnant already and my friends have asked me repeatedly how on earth i was hiding it at work so it's time to come clean i think. I was hoping to hold out until 20 weeks but thats only 3 weeks away now so it's not so bad!

phoebs88 · 18/07/2014 16:12

Rpopz, can you come round and clean ours? I've taken the approach of moaning about the heat instead!

Saras I have told a couple of people at work who I am close with. I'm not officially telling work until early August, waiting for promotion decisions to be announced before spilling the beans...just in case. I will be around 17 wks at that point, DP has 'kindly' told me that they will guess before then!! Hmm

HenriettaTurkey · 18/07/2014 16:14

Madrigals, how old is your dc? DS will be (a fairly short) 2.9 when dc2 arrives so maybe a buggy board would work with him?

KatnissEvermean · 18/07/2014 17:04

Exciting pram talk! The first thing my parents said is that they wanted to but the pushchair. I think they're going to finish paying for it in October and then keep it at their house until the baby arrives, as my mom is superstitious!

Everyone at my work already knows, there are only a few of us there. I told my manager and a colleague quite early on as I was really sick, and was late a few times (toothpaste was triggering the sickness so it was hard to get ready and make it out of the house on time). I told everyone else after the 12 week scan. I am the first employee to be pregnant, so I wanted to warn my boss well in advance. Apparently when my manager asked about getting maternity cover our boss said probably not; my job is quite unique and he thought there'd be no point trying to train someone for the TWO months I'd be off! He has since informed himself on the subject, haha.

I love buggy talk! I am set in the britax b agile as it's just as good as city jogger mini double (but cheaper) and I alsrwsy have a britax car seat so I can attach it to the double buggy and have baby face me. I don't wanna fork out for a carrycot attachment as they're a waste of time ime.

Only problemo is the raincover doesn't fully cover the oldest child when car seat is attached (according to a review!) so now I am thinking it may have to be the city jogger. eBay have loads that are used but in good condition. I also have an oyster to sell (old one of flos) so I can uSe that money to put towards it :)

rumisyum · 18/07/2014 18:03

Loving the pram chat! I wish I could get started choosing one, but it depends where we'll be living when the little one comes & that's still up in the air! We're somewhere urban now, but might be moving to a village, so quite different needs, really. So for now I can just ogle them admiringly. And try to guess which might be most suitable. Hmm

The joolz is nice, Saras! I hadn't heard of them before, but v stylish!

Saraswati · 18/07/2014 18:05

Ah that's good to know mad I'm only 5'6 and DH is 5'10 on a good day so not much chance of a tall baby, however my family are all v.tall (My bro is 6'5!) so not sure about Jesus' chances of being long.

I read more about the joolz today (I want the day earth in parrot blue) and they are all Eco friendly and use organic fabrics (I'm into all of that) so I hope I like it when I go to see it as I've decided on it in my mind already!

Not too worried about my colleague, it's nice to have an ally in the office and I'll tell my boss week after next after her holiday. My contract ends at beginning of dec, my boss has said she'd like to keep me on longer but obviously my pregnancy will stop that. I want to be a sahm for bit so they won't need to pay me maternity so I doubt they'll be too bothered.

This heat is just too much! Almost fainted on the way home, stopped and got a drink and feel much better now, hope Jesus is ok in there :s

Minibagel · 18/07/2014 18:16

sara tall genes can win out from the mums side, so your baby could be mega long. Especially if your brothers are very tall, as mine are.

Keepontrudging · 18/07/2014 18:32

I'm 5'7 and my bros are all six footers. Scott is 6'3- safe to say our babies will be gigantical ;)

Saraswati · 18/07/2014 18:48

Dammit mini ! I didn't know that, all the men in my family are super tall, dad was 6'4, grandad was 6'4 still at 83! All my male cousins on that side are 6'3 plus. I'm only average and DH is average too so sounds like baby could be big despite this. He's slim now but DH was a 10 pounder!

RPopz · 18/07/2014 18:58

Haha Mr Popz is 6'2 and he was an 8 pounder. I'm 5'10 so no chance of a dainty baby here!

Sounds like you'll be ok with work Sara - if she's a good friend. I've got an interview for promotion in Aug as well which was announced aaaages ago which is another reason I told them early, just to get it out in the open!

blizy · 18/07/2014 19:16

Keep, how did you find the oyster?

Chattycat78 · 18/07/2014 19:18

Hello please can I join? Due January 16Th. 14 weeks pg today. I've noticed all the chat about work finding out. I've told my boss but can't decide when yo tell the rest of the team... If I'm honest it's because I'm still scared of something going wrong! Xx

rumisyum · 18/07/2014 19:46

Welcome, chatty! I told my team this week & I keep feeling I might have jinxed something, so you're in good company with those worries. Smile

I'm a short arse compared to you lot at 5'5", and DH is no giant at 5'11", but at the scans I've had so far baby kept measuring at 90th centile for length. Whoops. Not sure how that's happened. We'll see how s/he keeps growing!

Chattycat78 · 18/07/2014 19:57

Ha! Rumsi I'm 5"2, so you re tall compared to me! Thanks for the reassurance. I feel like I've jinxed something too after each person I tell....telling friends now, just not work!

Keepontrudging · 18/07/2014 19:58

Hi chatty! Welcome to the house of fun ;)

Blizy- I love love love the oyster ! So much so my mate bought one as I harped on about it so much. Cannot fault it :)

blizy · 18/07/2014 20:06

Welcome chatty!

Thanks keep,I really like the look of it and love that you can change the colour. I think we will go for the purple!
I'm a short arse at 5ft 1in and Dh is 5ft 6in. DD was 7lbs at 41 weeks and a wee shorty too.

I've just had pizza, chips and irn bru for dinner, was magic! I really need to start eating healthily.
