They should have concierges of that kind of stuff ismarah, like a fancy hotel Grin.

No food or drink allowed until post ECV. It's only been 5 hours and I'm consumed with thoughts of iced beverages and cheesecake. They better not keep us waiting too long this afternoon as my capacity to throw a strop when I'm hungry is legendary.

ZingWhale · 27/06/2014 12:22

ismarah

you are right, there might be no WiFi signal or whatever they need.
although I did manage to get online with "mobile data" function.
I'm just so impatient....Blush

plate

so what time is procedure?
I'm getting your cheesecake ready as we speak - what flavour do you prefer?

Plate isn't that basically torture of a preggo?? No food OR drink and they run late. Pure evil.

Incapinka · 27/06/2014 12:52

What time are you due in Plate? Good luck and will be thinking of you.

Congratulations foxtrot. So glad it was a better experience than last time.

Now that the time is getting nearer I am spending more time remembering DS labour and whilst it wasn't that bad the concept of having to get a watermelon out is a bit alarming again.

I also have to admit I have a bit of love for Zing!

Becky2208 · 27/06/2014 12:57

Congratulations foxtrot!

Both ipad and DH arrived, though he did forget to bring most of the stuff I asked for - while I had the basics of a hospital bag packed, definitely should have been more organised!

They still haven't said what might be causing the bleeding, and since they monitored baby this morning, I've been pretty much ignored. Definitely not helping with my emotional state, and DH had to pop in to work, so I'm on my own again.

The bleeding seems to have stopped, so I'm hoping I don't have to stay here too long.

Good luck plate!

Incapinka · 27/06/2014 13:04

Glad he remembered the iPad and hope you get some answers soon

icklekid · 27/06/2014 13:10

Congratulations foxtrot hope all continues to go well with your gorgeous new baby girl Smile

becky glad you have things to entertain you even if dh has to be at work. Good to hear bleeding has stopped and hopefully that means you can go home soon!

MrsA2 · 27/06/2014 13:57

Congratulations Foxtrot!

Becky, sorry to hear that you've had a scare but hopefully if all looks well on the monitors then you'll be allowed home soon. At least you have an ipad for entertainment now.

Just back from the midwife and she doesn't think baby is back to back, hooray! It definitely changed position yesterday so all the hands and knees/not laying back seems to have done some good. 2/5 engaged and a sweep booked for Tuesday, lots more bouncing on the ball and gentle walking planned before then...

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2118241-38-weeks-back-pain

Everyone is ignoring me on the general pregnancy board. Any thoughts?

ZingWhale · 27/06/2014 14:35

Great news MrsA!

fifi

I'll read it later.

now I'm trying to have a nap, but I'm getting irrationality angry with non-conforming cushions
you know when you get just the right amount of squishiness v support of cushions/pillows and you don't even try to sleep, but find yourself ^waking up"?

it's not bloody happening.I can't get it right.
my neck hurts, my back hurts, my shoulder hurts.
even my ear hurts.Confused
Angry Angry

up since 5am and need to sleep, come on furniture, do your job!

incapinka aawww! hugs!Smile

zing similar fight with cushions going on here made worse by fact I can hear that DS is not sleeping. Doesn't mean I'm going to get him but combination of not being comfy and him chattering loudly means sleep looking increasingly unlikely :( just so tired after being awake on and off all night!

Inca I've really been trying not to think about the watermelon thing- DH asked last night if I could remember all my breathing techniques for labour which I can't right now-was kinda hoping it'd all just come back to me but think I should probably research again.

fifi no idea I'm afraid- have you tried the childbirth board? Sorry about the pain though!

My bump just hurts-think might be trapped wind but nervous about taking lactulose as bowels rather unpredictable at the moment. Bought raspberry leaf tea earlier so might give up on nap and attempt to sneak downstairs without DS hearing to have a quiet cup.

fifi669 · 27/06/2014 14:48

Childbirth Shock no hadn't thought of that....

BlueC2 · 27/06/2014 15:06

Ps on the raspberry leaf tea - Holland and Barratt have buy 1 get 1 half price on everything in store at the moment

Plateofcrumbs · 27/06/2014 16:02

Hope everything is OK becky and that you're allowed home soon.

Kicking back in the delivery suite at the moment waiting for consultant who is dealing with an EMCS at the moment, so no turning yet. Soooo hungry. I'll have the cheesecake plain, New York style with strawberries on the side. Maybe with a large pizza to start. And a huge glass of iced OJ.

Actually quite nice getting comfy in the delivery suite, it's normalising it for me - all felt a bit daunting when we first got here but have had a nap, seen a load of midwives (who are all puzzled why I 'm not contracting - umm cos I'm not having a baby today!!), and feel a bit more at home so hopefully won't be as scary when I 'm here for real.

Ipsumlorem · 27/06/2014 16:04

fifi I get the same thing - I asked the midwife when it first started and she said can be part of braxton hicks for some people - just felt more in your back. Theyve got worse over the last few weeks and now start off like how you describe then wrap round my belly and can be quite painful at times!

foxtrot congrats on your little girl! Smile

Ive been super constipated most of this pregnancy and today I went to the toilet and had what can only be described as a massive clearout Blush Its probably nothing in terms of labour starting knowing my luck but I feel so much better now and am actually looking forward to going out for dinner tonight so baby may just stay put a bit longer! Smile

mixi82 · 27/06/2014 16:09

We'll I'm suitably annoyed. Got to appointment for 11am and got told they had no beds due to loads of walk ins. They said to go home and wait for a call which will be a few hours. So 5hrs later and still no word :( I know they have to prioritise walk ins and I'm all for that, but I am 3rd on the waiting list for a bed so thought they could/would have called before. Just frustrated and a little :(

Plus run out of tablets for OC as they only gave me enough up until last night, spoke to MW today about it and they said you'll be fine once induced and baby comes. Which is fair enough but I'm not getting induced right at this moment and my itching has started to drive me mad!!

BlueC2 · 27/06/2014 16:19

Oh mixi that's awful Angry you have every right to be fed up without the added torture of no meds for the OC!! Does it look like it will be tomorrow now? Sorry I have no idea whether they have a preference for time of day when they start an induction?! Really hope they give you a call soon and at least get you the meds you need if you have to wait for a bed tomorrow. How utterly frustrating!

plate hope they crack on with things soon for you! you must be ridiculously hungry by now!!

I remember when in labour with DS they had a Crash section to deal with so I got left on antenatal for longer than I should with no word about when they would be back to me... It does make you think they should really have procedures/staff to deal with such eventualities rather than just leaving patients hanging around.

DS finally decided to fall asleep at 3.30pm which has now messed up my plans for the rest of the day and picking DH up from work...Grrrr...and I didn't get to nap either! zing hope you got comfy in the end and got some sleep.

Not sure I had Brixton hicks with DS but seriously wondering if I'm getting them this time as periodically bump goes rock hard and does feel strange...

ips here's hoping the clear out is a good sign! In the meantime enjoy your dinner tonight, though don't make my mistake and eat too much (as I did with the curry last night) as you may regret it... Awful heartburn all last night and constipation and diarrhoea today Blush all fun this being pregnant lark eh?!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 27/06/2014 17:48

Hello again all

foxtrot congratulations, that's amazing!

Is anyone enjoying their time with new nct chums? I have to say, after all the mossy fears, mine are all lovely and I'm really enjoying getting to know them. What a great network! And I suspect the fact that they're all so very svelte will help spur me on to lose the baby weight!

ZingWhale · 27/06/2014 17:54

fifi

I have similar (I think) sometimes - could be baby pressing on some nerves if in a certain position.
mine is a bit like a shooting pain, like electricity.
sometimes goes up to my neck and is throbbing for about 20secs - a minute.

don't know what to suggest.

OP posts:
ZingWhale · 27/06/2014 18:09

mixi

call them and explain about the meds & lack of them.
That's just not right to be left without them.

immensely frustrating to be sent home.
You have my sympathy - I got sent home at 2pm when booked in for ELSC, having waited since 7am to be scheduled in.
they could only re-schedule for 3 days later...(so very convenient for anyone, but just a delight when it's your fourthConfused )

plate

I have your order ready, it will be room service, I hope you don't mind eating it while having a soothing foot massage!Wink
oh and the strawberries will have a light dusting of icing sugar if you prefer.
(I do)

hugs to both of you

blue

the following things should be banned or punishable by law : whistling, DH talking on the phone, kids banging doors, loud breathing, curtains not shut properly, non-conforming cushions, ice that's not cold enough, neck pain, poo and the smell of it....

I did fall in and out of consciousness, rather than sleep and woke up with a bloody headache.
asked DH to get me water but he made me wait for 2 minutes coz on the phone with client.
that made me cry. IABUSad

TMI but going to have to resort to lactulose-feel as though someone has blown up bump with a bicycle pump-just so sore and so constipated again :(

Felt so bad when I had to go and wake DS up-as soon as I walked in the room I could smell why he hadn't wanted to go to sleep but poor lad had finally given in to sleep with such a horrid exploded nappy [bad mummy emoticon]

mixi plate auntie hope all is well with you all!

MrsA2 · 27/06/2014 19:13

Mixi, how frustrating! Plate hope they finally got organised for you too - and that your baby played ball in moving position.

Becky2208 · 27/06/2014 20:05

Mixi, auntie', hope all is good with you.

Plate hope the ecv went ok.

I'm stuck in hospital for the night. The bleeding has stopped and all looks fine with the baby but I still haven't seen a doctor, and apparently there's no one who is able to do a scan to check the placenta. Can't help but feel this is slightly ridiculous! Doesn't really fill me with confidence to be honest!

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 27/06/2014 20:08

Zing evil DH. Make sure he is suitably punished!

Mum has arrived and I am shock horror... drinking a glass of wine. According to my mum I need to relax and a glass now and then won't hurt me now.

Managed to get a Drs appointment for my 38 week check up (a week late) for Monday, other than that its a waiting game till either natural labour or induction on Friday. If I go in on Friday and there is no room for me I shall weep, including a major snotfest.

Big un mumsnetty hugs Mixi.

Plateofcrumbs · 27/06/2014 20:47

Well that was fun.

Waited in delivery room hooked up on monitor for hours. Midwife decided that my Braxton hicks were looking a bit proper contraction-like, starting off a bit of a panic and doctors coming in to assess etc, threatened with staying in overnight (whilst poor DH tried to get messages through to my dad who supposed to be staying with us tonight). Told ECV couldn't be done due to contractions, all looking a bit serious.

Finally registrar turned up, quickly decided the contractions were nothing to worry about (just getting very regular Braxton Hicks), ECV could still be done after all. Hooked up scanner to look at the baby - and it'd only gone and moved head down of its own accord! Literally in the time we'd spent in the delivery suite!

Then had to have an IV drip put in as I'd got so dehydrated!

But finally home with a head down baby and no ECV! Smile. Obviously a risk it could turn again but all good for now.
