That's great news plate, although it was a pain, at least the baby's head down!

I'm still waiting to be seen - starting to think that as I'm in a room on my own I may have been forgotten about!

BlueC2 · 27/06/2014 21:10

plate :) fantastic news but what a palaver!! Now babyplate just needs regular encouragement to stay head down!! No more wriggling allowed ;)

MrsA2 · 27/06/2014 21:14

Becky I can't believe you are still waiting, rubbish.

Great news Plate although again what a lot of hassle and hanging around for you. Hope you have made up for it by eating lots tonight.

Becky2208 · 27/06/2014 21:31

I've just spoken to a midwife - I think a doctor will review things in the morning, and decide what to do - hopefully they'll let me go home. I've given up all hope of seeing a doctor today. I'm assuming that it means that there's nothing to worry about, as otherwise surely I would have been seen by now!

ismarah · 27/06/2014 21:40

On the whole, excellent news Plate! Er.

I have decided that I'm upset that I can no longer be comfortable in the bath or shower. Well, sort of in the shower but not really. What we need is clearly a hot tub! Damn DH for refusing to buy and install one tomorrow - totally unreasonable that man, clearly. Grin

moresnow I had contractions on and off Tues/Wed/Thurs with DS, they didn't fully ramp up til Fri and DS born early Sat morning. I went into the hospital Thurs evening and despite all the contractions I wasn't dilated at all though DS was fully engaged! Re the homebirth where I live you have to be at least 37 weeks which you are, and unless you want a waterbirth then there's not too much to get organised as the MWs will bring a lot of stuff with them.

mixi82 · 27/06/2014 23:13

zing, blue, liquid thanks for advice :)

Got DP to call up at about 4.30pm as we'd not heard anything. Said we were next on the list and also asked about meds, they told him my GP has to prescribe it which is wrong as the consultant did for me last time and got it from hospital pharmacy.

Anyways , got a call about 6pm and they said they'd have a bed at 9pm for me but suggested I come in tomorrow morning as they don't like to induce that late. So I guess will have to wait until and see what happens tomorrow. Soooooooo itchy tonight though so I expect I won't get a good rest :(

Patchworking9til5 · 27/06/2014 23:24

I've had pretty much constant Braxton hicks all day... Am 39+2. Is that normal?! Feels like baby can't move properly.

ZingWhale · 27/06/2014 23:36

patchwork

they are called practice contractions for a reason!Wink

yes, it's probably all good, they are supposed to get more frequent - you could start a log of them (frequency, intensity, length) and do call whoever you need to if you are worried.
especially if you think baby's movements are reduced.
(a bit less movement is ok, as less space, but if you are worried do not hesitate!)

Thanks zing presumably early contractions are not v painful so how would I tell the difference?! I have definitely got back pain with it though and need to breathe a lot!! Eeeek.

ZingWhale · 28/06/2014 00:03

snow

yes, you can have loads of pre-labour contractions that eventually disappear.
it could go on for days or weeks.
the cervix is very likely to be dilating slowly - the more kids you have the more likely these start or become noticable earlier & earlier then previous pg.

here's a true story of my DSIL2, who's got 9 children.
With her 8th she had mild contractions every evening (from about 33-34 weeks onwards), on and off for about half an hour to 2 hrs as pg progressed.
she doesn't live in the UK and internal exams happen at every GP/MW/OBGYN visit - which is how it was discovered that at 36 weeks (or so) she was already 2 cms dilated.
she was told she might go into labour any minute. Confused

the evening contractions carried on, but no actual labour started.
by the time she was term she was 4-5 cms dilated. it was just getting ridiculous.
all that pain, so many false alarms and nothing still.
eventually she was induced when 8 days late , 3.5 hours from induction to baby born.

shows that you can just never tell what will happen, each pg is different and yes, you can have plenty of contractions with baby half way out, yet not going into labour!

but having said that, if you think you are in labour do call the hospital.
better a false alarm then giving birth in the car!

patchwork

love your name btw as I make patchwork quilts - although it's more in the night!Wink

so if you have period like aching pain just above the pubic bone/under your belly (in the middle, where cervix is located inside) that is a contraction, however mild.
They will be fairly short in early labour and the pain is like a wave - it comes, gets stronger, peaks in intensity, gets weaker, then is gone.

/â??*\â?? kind of like that?!

BH don't hurt there.
they make the whole belly like a rock, and might stop you in your track and take your breath away but there is no period like, very localised pain.

if you have the first type, wave- like period type aching plus backache I think you are in early labour.
and you should definitely get advice from your MW/hospital asap!

btw I guess it is possible to have both BH and normal contraction at the same time - I don't remember it ever happening though.

Jaysus, I feel like I've pulled a muscle in my stomach. Right hand side which where bean has been burrowing down into my hip all day. So uncomfortable and random.

ZingWhale · 28/06/2014 01:33

ismarah

stabbing pain/muscle cramp? maybe "welcome" to the agony that is PGPSad soooo painful

OP posts:
ismarah · 28/06/2014 01:53

I've had PGP earlier on - not quite sure why it disappeared but I'm not complaining that it did! Not sure what this is... stupid paranoia is stupid

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 28/06/2014 02:48

Plate I cannot believe the baby also turned for you while you were at hospital for the ECV! That happened to me - although with less stress. I think it was the heart monitor beepy belt thing which the baby did not like at all Grin.

turns out my DH is famous in the local village's corner shop. I popped in to stock up on prawn crackers (recent craving and they are one of the few foods that stay down) and they asked if I was married to the man who was desparatly hunting them down a couple of weeks ago Blush. Am a little less grumpy with him now.

Have barely eaten today as did spectacular projectile vomit all over the WC last night. Was up the walls and everything. Not the best thing to be on my hands and knees at 3am clearing up.

BlueC2 · 28/06/2014 02:49

Wide awake and have been for the last 1.5hours...just want to sleep! Baby been doing all sorts of contortionist wriggles inside bump so goodness knows what position it is in now but when I get up for the loo it does rather feel as though a melon is wedged down below so thinking bump is/has dropped. Sure I'm getting Braxton hicks too.

Hope everyone else ok

fifi669 · 28/06/2014 03:00

I'm awake. Restless legs. Ug.

ismarah · 28/06/2014 03:06

Awake here too although I think I'll try again to find a comfortable position in a minute and try and sleep. Paranoia is keeping me awake and googling Blush. Oh and pain. Pain is also keeping me awake, as I suspect is true of the rest of us insomniacs at this point.

DH had a bad dream and jumped up in bed, swearing. It was amusing Grin
