Dam you blue, I thought baby blue had arrived, what have you been doing all night get it out Wink
X post re FB - glad it's sorted.

Plateofcrumbs · 10/07/2014 10:32

blue I see all posts to the FB page (including my own) in my timeline but I'm confident that no-one else sees them (I haven't posted anything about pregnancy on FB about being pregnant outside of the group so if other people had suddenly seen my bump photo I would definitely have known about it!).

Stupid hospital bag question: I've got really thick hair that takes an age to dry. Is taking a hairdryer completely pointless? Am assuming won't be allowed/nowhere to use it? Not thinking of sleek blow-dry, just a quick blast to prevent sogginess. Plan B = dry shampoo and shower cap.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/07/2014 10:54

Plate Not sure they'd allow hairdryers as they're possibly too disturbing. Might be worth asking the place you're giving birth? I plan to have a shower in early labour and make sure my hair is washed then. Am I right in thinking you are/might be having a CS?

Babysitting a friend's nearly-3-year-old boy right now. Not coping with the mess he and DD are making, or the noise, or the occasional fighting. Hooray for late term irritability!

GrouchyKiwi · 10/07/2014 11:00

Eee. And I just went to the bathroom, came back and the wee boy had put apples, his toy car and a cleaning brush into the fish bowl. Talk about opportunist!

AuntieMaggie · 10/07/2014 11:13

Plate I took my hairdryer after someone on here said but didn't use it as nowhere to plug in apart from by the bed and nobody is going to thank you for that near their newborns!

icklekid · 10/07/2014 11:23

blue I'm sure no one can see posts in groups other than you so fear not!

hayley sorry to hear about your bad night hope you get some rest today-keep bouncing/active it's all I can think of doing!

kiwi bless you taking an extra child at this time, hope they fancy a dvd later!!

Plateofcrumbs · 10/07/2014 11:24

Thanks auntie and grouchy - I think I'll leave hair dryer at home. Grouchy not a planned CS now but reckon higher-than-average chance of that being outcome.

Am splitting into two bags - one for labour/immediate post-natal, and one to leave in car with extra clothes, nappies, food etc in case we're not a quick in-and-out.

GrouchyKiwi · 10/07/2014 11:39

Ickle I am getting an education in how little boys play, in case we have a boy. This one, at least, plays VERY differently from my little girl!

Plate Two bags is sensible. I was going to do that but managed to squish everything into one case. I've taken some plastic bags so things used in labour can go home straight away.

Plateofcrumbs · 10/07/2014 12:06

oh yes plastic bags!

mummytobejuly2014 · 10/07/2014 13:50

is there much point drinking raspberry leaf tea now at 39+6?

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 15:04

Enjoying a peaceful lie down whilst DS naps- we didn't do a great deal this morning as I was exhausted but I think he was too as has stubbornly refused afternoon naps this week! Suspect I'll be trying to wake him after 3hours of snoozing at this rate!

plate glad bag packing all going well- I jammily got a private room on post natal (ward was full!) so could probably have used a hairdryer but suspect yhat on a ward would be a lot trickier.

kiwi well done for adding a toddler to look after today-am impressed!

Hayley sorry to disappoint- would've loved it to be me! Think baby is far too snuggled inside at the moment!

So all contractions have now totally stopped :( bump still feels low, heavy and achey but other than that no signs of anything happening just need to keep waiting!

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 15:45

My bump is gurgling :) presuming it's actually my stomach and not waters about to pop lol! I can actually feel the gurgles if I put my hand over bump too...quite a funny sensation!

icklekid · 10/07/2014 16:14

Ohh gurgling sounds interesting! My waters have gone and am in hospital now but going home. Fingers crossed baby may come tomorrow on due date!

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 16:52

Come on baby ickle don't keep mummy waiting any longer :) but do give time to get back to hospital!

mummytobejuly2014 · 10/07/2014 16:58

blue i had those weird noises last week inc pop's & what sounded like air rushing out. we're getting a chinese takeaway for tea as im too bothered to cook & then i plan on scoffing a whole haagen daz dulce leche caramel while OH is running after his mum :)

NancyinCali · 10/07/2014 17:15

Oh exciting ickle won't be long now hopefully!

blue sorry nothing is happening, that's very frustrating for you!

Thank you zing and hayley for condolences. We weren't super close but finding it hard not being there with my family and missing the funeral - although I guess I possibly wouldn't have gone anyway with the timing.

How are your DSs now zing?

DH brought home flowers, English chocolate and ice cream to cheer me up last night and he came home early to help me with DD who was being very difficult (teething I think).

Had a terrible night with twitchy/achy calves so I couldn't sleep :(. So much I wanted to do today but resting instead. DH leaving work at lunchtime to take me out for nice lunch while DD is in nursery as it's my birthday on Saturday. Then midwife appt.

NancyinCali · 10/07/2014 17:18

Oh and thank you grouchy too. And wow can't believe you had another toddler to look after today! What's your due date? We must be pretty similar (26th for me).

mupperoon · 10/07/2014 17:39

its Big congrats to you and baby Leo!

ickle How exciting! And how timely and considerate of ickleicklekid!

mummy I wouldn't bother with the raspberry leaf tea at this point... Stick to the takeaway and ice cream (I am really jealous of the dulce de leche as my other half hates anything caramel and we only ever have vanilla)!

blue Hope the weird bump noises are a good sign!

I found some energy from somewhere today and have done some light housework for once. I really don't seem to have this nesting urge that everyone else gets. Maybe I am genetically just too slovenly. I blame the parents.

NancyinCali · 10/07/2014 17:53

mupperoon I don't do nesting either - unless you call loads of crafting impulses nesting. With DD1 I made loads of things when I went overdue.

Incapinka · 10/07/2014 18:14

Exciting Ickle!! Baby on way!!

No news here. 40+1 and DH now working from home. 3 year old
DS has been completely out of sorts all day today so feeling shattered from trying to keep him entertained and happy. Big failure but at least I have made (& eaten a lot of) cake. He is now watching cbeebies looking as though butter wouldn't melt and DH has gone off for a swim in the sea after his sports massage. Surely I should be the one being pampered rather than the IM in training?! He did say I could soon but seems to have forgotten that there isn't much free time with a newborn let alone with a toddler as well. I wonder if a good old cry will help. Feeling pathetically sorry for myself at at the moment. Hmm

Incapinka · 10/07/2014 18:19

Apologies for moaning YET again!

BlueC2 · 10/07/2014 18:39

Please don't worry about the moan inca I was about to do the same Blush I think it's important to be able to let it out either on here! tears it both! So sorry DS hard work... I'm sure they pick up on things being different leg alone to fact that mummy is definitely looking different iyswim!

So my little moan is that DH has come home from work totally exhausted... So much so he can barely keep his eyes open! I just don't understand how he can be that tired!! He's getting more sleep than me, isn't pregnant and aside from a bit more stuff around the house really isn't doing much more than normal! He is an absolute star but when overtired he's really hard work (as I'm sure I am) and has such a short fuse with me and DS. So whilst he's done bath time (well, sat in the bathroom with a glazed look on his face not interacting with DS at all) I've run around downstairs clearing all toys away, dinner stuff away and loaded the dishwasher so that he doesn't do it at less than snails pace and then moan that it's 9pm+ before he sits down. But now bump so uncomfortable as a result of doing all off that so soon after dinner and I still need to do milk and stories with DS! Please baby come soon so I can at least feel relatively myself again!

NancyinCali · 10/07/2014 18:46

My DH is like that too blue but he does do some long days and has a lot of stress. Winds me up when he falls asleep on the sofa at the weekend though!

Incapinka · 10/07/2014 18:46

Thanks blue and sorry to hear about your DH. They can be pretty pathetic at times can't they?! Just imagine if men were the ones who got pregnant I am sure the human race would be extinct. Hope he snaps out of it soon.

mupperoon · 10/07/2014 19:19

Inca I think you're quite justified in being upset and you've been very patient with your DH. I would have been incandescent if my other half had started something as time-consuming as IM training while I was pregnant - and you've got a little one already too!

I am being pretty hypocritical, as I've done a couple of endurance events in the past few years that required long days of weekend training with my friends, and then support from my husband when I got home shattered, hungry and mud-spattered. I am ashamed to admit that I didn't even discuss it with him before signing up, both times.

But then again we didn't have a toddler and he wasn't pregnant - thankfully. It would be 1000x worse than man-flu which is bad enough.

Nancy I hope the craft thing happens to me although I don't want to go overdue! I intended to write a little story book starring baby-to-be and illustrate it, or paint a mural in the nursery, or buy a sewing machine and learn how to make cushion covers, but I've discovered untapped springs of utter laziness instead.
