Good luck to all ladies having their scans today - it's magical!

My tummy seems to have grown over the weekend - I look really fat today!

I've just been telling all my friends at work today. Mixture of yay's, we knew it and you didn't hang around (we only hot married in feb!). Ah well, we're happy and that's all that counts. So happy to be out of the closet!!!x

LulusMiniEgg · 23/06/2014 12:28

Oops sorry 12 +5

Minibagel · 23/06/2014 12:42

I am planning on stopping work at 35w as my job is quite physical and I often travel long distances. I found with ds1 that I was so big by 36w that I stopped then. Also a long car journey I did for work at 36w resulted in horrendous piles that never fully went away and I'm pretty sure that this didn't help with the (tmi) 6 golf ball sized ones I got after the birth. I'm really hoping to avoid them as it was worse than the pain from my stitches but my mw has said it is likely I will get them again. Seriously I couldnt sit down for 2-3 weeks without tears to my eyes.

Minibagel · 23/06/2014 12:43

Woops.

11w today!

sleepisforthetired · 23/06/2014 13:24

Have been reading but 7 pages in already and I had posted!

Scan Thursday (3 sleeps!) sway between being really excited and really nervous. Thursday cannot come soon enough!

Depending what happens at the scan, I am planning to work until Christmas eve, using holiday to work part time through December. That said, DS turned up 2 weeks earlier the EDD, and I had expected him to be late. This time round I am trying to keep things a lot less structured, as it never works out therefore why worry myself planning when its easier to just be responsive!! :)

Had a really nice lunch with my friend, she was so surprised but thrilled and cried! Her baby is getting all chubby and scrummy now too so was lovely to see him as well. She's hoping to extend her mat leave until march and she lives very close to me so we are already planning lots of nice lunches and trips out with the babies, I'm so excited :)

Any scan news today anyone?

Im wearing my Asos maternity jeggings for the first time at work today and I am in love with them! So comfy and only 20, they are black and the fabric is thick so they look smart enough for work, I woudl thoroughly recommend them. I'm just wearing a long top to hide the elastic at the top. I'm going to buy another pair now!

sleepisforthetired · 23/06/2014 16:42

I am wearing M&P mat trousers. I was actually thinking earlier how comfy they are, and all trousers should be made with elasticated waists!

So - trying to be positive, was wondering about the nub theory. Had a look as DS scan, and I will be honest, I would have thought he was a girl based on the theory so I must be doing it wrong. Does it need to be a specific angle or any old scan image do? He was dated just over 11wks at time of dating scan. Would this have made a difference?

Once I know whether everything is ok or not, we I Wink will be debating whether to find out the sex. There are a couple of ladies on both teams. How did you decide?

Frances79FirstTime · 23/06/2014 16:51

Hello ladies. Been mega busy and looks like I have missed a lot!

I have my 12 week scan on 4th July (I should be 12+3 at that point). I already booked in with mw a couple of weeks ago but have read in a couple of places that I should have a maternity notes folder from that appointment. Do other people already have theirs?

My mw took all details on an iPad so not sure whether that means that I will get them at a later date because they need to be entered onto system first, but to be honest the mw appt just left me more confused than before - I don't even know when my next appt should be!

All I got given at booking in was a Bounty pack full of seemingly promotional leaflets for Graze and decaf tea!

CallingAllEngels · 23/06/2014 16:52

Ouch bagel - I had a massive one as well and know it will come back with a vb Sad

My stomach expands during the day. Not in maternity wear yet.

We're not finding out sleep . There are so few surprises in life and I can still remember that magical moment when DH looked at me and said, "It's a boy" in the delivery room Smile

I'm going to work till 36 weeks. I have the option of stopping at 34 or 35, but then 2 weeks less ML after birth. Would rather spend more time with my baby than my belly (and with a toddler at home, work is a rest!).

13+1

ilovelamp78 · 23/06/2014 17:48

frances my midwife left my notes at the health centre for me to pick up. I guess you could give them a ring to find out if you are supposed to have them? I thought you had to take it to all your appointments??

ilovelamp78 · 23/06/2014 17:50

Oh and she writes my next appointment on the back for me and tells me to bring pee with me every time!

Starbright24 · 23/06/2014 17:53

Dp asked the other day which scan was the gender one. I was surprised as just assumed we wouldn't want to know but he said of course he wants to know so we could buy right clothes and paint room. I think we need to talk more Grin
Asos online was down yesterday when I tried to look. Going to check again now.
I got given notes francis from the mw and I have to take them with me for scan (3 sleeps away!!!!)

RPopz · 23/06/2014 17:57

I'm on the fence Sleep! A surprise would be lovely, nothing else in life is truly a surprise is it! But I can see the practicalities of finding out. Mum wants us to find out, Sister says no!! Me and DH are indifferent for now... may all change though Wink

Lamp I've had a copy of my notes since booking in. And was told to take them to everything with me. Maybe give the midwife a call? x

How were the scans today ladies???! Two sleeps til mine... I.Am.Terrified!!

Pesto11 · 23/06/2014 18:24

Hope the scan went well today keepon x

Hi all.

Scan went amazingly :) so happy and relieved! Went to next and bought some sleep suits to celebrate. Next ones wash the best ime a and have mitts which are a lifesaver, as regular mitts always fall off!

Anyway- little bubba was sleeping in an odd position so I had to do all sorts to try and move him/ her. I was hopping up and down at one point! (So dignified!) finally he moved into a decent position so he could be measured for the downs screening (all looks ok in that front, thus far...)

Was so wonderful. I am thinking its a boy now.... Hard to do the nub theory on my scan pic- mum thinks a girl though when she did it.

Was lovely how chilled he was. Nothing would budge him! Hope he stays so chilled :) I also got told I am a week behind (again!!!) so I am now due Jan 8th and I am 11+4..

Hope everyone has has a good day. Nice to know I am not the only one in maternity gear now! I have also bought a few maxi dresses- hnm do lovely, casual ones - only a fiver in the sale too! I got a grey and a dark grey. Love 'em!

11+4

KeepOnPloddingOn · 23/06/2014 18:40

Just read that back- I need to stop referring to the baby as a male! Not at least until I am positive. Oops.

RPopz · 23/06/2014 18:49

Great news Keepon Grin

ViviPru · 23/06/2014 19:18

Glad to hear it went well KeepOn!

I'm self employed and WFH so I'll probably just keep working up until my usual Christmas break. Until this year I've been full-time with various clients and the work ebbs and flows. If it gets quiet I send a few emails and get some more work in, but the last couple of months I've not bothered and I'm down to a steady two days a week currently which is HEAVEN!

We have always said we'd keep it the sex a surprise. We won't be bothering to decorate a 'nursery' (the Prulet won't even be in its own room till this time next year) and I'm not fussed about buying gender-specific clothing. I have to admit though, I'm having a mild wobble on the not-finding-out resolve....

cheshirem2b · 23/06/2014 19:21

Great news keepon!

I'm working late tonight... done a case from 3-6.30 & now on a break waiting to be called back! Zzzzz!

cheshirem2b · 23/06/2014 19:24

Forgot to say - we are not finding out the gender... surprise baby!
12+4

Minibagel · 23/06/2014 19:36

Yay keepon I'm so pleased for you. Think of the calories you burnt jumping up and down, it makes me want a mars bar.

Speaking of food, i've just had a classic pg moan to dh about how we dont have anything in for dinner because I never know what I'll fancy and I need to eat veg but all I can stomach tonight is pizza. He was so understanding, gave me a hug and offered to go out and buy said pizza and my fave food mags for inspiration. He always knows what to say! Hero.

sleep I am old fashioned and wanted a surprise with ds1. Like vivipru I wasn't keen on a gender stereotyped room or clothes and you're absolutely right, I dont even spend much time in there and he's been in there for months.

It was lovely in the delivery room hearing 'its a boy!' but tbh I think I was so relieved it was a healthy baby, the sex seemed secondary so it wasnt as amazing to find out as I was expecting. I also think whenever you hear the sex it will always be a lovely surprise. Does that make sense? With this one we have decided to try to find out with an early sexing scan at 16w and then nhs 20w scan for a second opinion.

The other annoying thing is literally everyone asks you a) what you're having and b) if you have a preference. It drives you bonkers after a while. But then if you do find out, they will ask if you wanted the other and what name you have picked. There isnt a way to win on that one.

Minibagel · 23/06/2014 19:37

I meant to say, not finding out then may drive you to distracti

Minibagel · 23/06/2014 19:38

distraction, guessing with the nub theory, skull theory, heart rate on the doppler/hospital monitor etc. If you think you'll spend a lot of time speculating, just find out I say.
