Morning all. Good luck for those with scans today.

Saras, I've got a dreamgenii. Had one in my last pg and got one again this time. I love it. I usually sleep on my front and it really helps me to sleep on my side (helpful with the bloating and sore boobs). It is quite big but I don't find it too big.

I have recently hacked my long hair off to shoulder length. So much fresher and much easier to manage (I have a one year old haha) - judging by my last pregnancy I shall have to trim it every week- my hair grew majorly fast last time. I also remember a hair on my shoulder- very odd!

KeepOnPloddingOn · 23/06/2014 06:49

Scan at 130 today! I am so excited and nervous! It feels so surreal ... I feel pregnant - bit I am still terrified ... My belly just feel empty iyswim - but I know I am probably just being silly...
Wish me luck! Will report back to my lovely MN ladies when I get a chance ...

I've done similarly with my hair,Keepon. my logic was that if I hated it (which, incidentally, I do) it would grow back quickly Smile

Good luck scan ladies today!

Someone asked about bra fitting. Do you have a bravissimo near to you? Try there. There are the bra intervention threads on here (in Style & beauty I think) and you should be able to get some advice on other places. I'm sure you're question has been asked before Smile Avoid M&S like the plague though because they don't measure you properly.

While we're talking about facial hair and the like, can I remind everyone to wear sunscreen and a hat that shades your face during these sunny days, especially when lazing on the beach or round the pool on holiday? I was really careful last pg because I didn't want 'mask of pg' - can't remember the proper name, but maybe hyper-pigmentation. Even though I was careful last time I still ended up with a thin line of freckles along the edge of my top lip, kind of like natural freckle lip liner, and even though they've faded they haven't disappeared completely.

Have got myself a floppy brimmed hat for this summer and our holiday in France.

Good luck to everyone with scans today.

Hi I'm not really sure if I belong in here or December (going on dates I am due 31 Dec - I KNOW! - but really not sure that's right as it all happened quite quickly and I wasn't keeping track of my dates as well as I should have been Blush). I am hoping that New Year's Eve is not right! I have my scan on Wednesday so will hopefully have a clearer idea then. This is my second pregnancy (my son is 2.2) and with him I had a big bleed at 9 weeks so had a scan then, which was very reassuring. I feel strange not having had a scan yet and am quite nervous. I've been very lucky with symptoms in both pregnancies - I think I've been more tired this time but not sick in either (just feeling like I have a permanent hangover) and they have eased in the last week or so. Just have fingers crossed for Wednesday now. Best wishes to all on here, especially those who have suffered losses.

ViviPru · 23/06/2014 08:20

Welcome Welsh!! My LMP due date is New Years Eve too! In fact my official EDD post-scan is 27 Dec and there are ladies on here whose date is now even earlier so feel free to stick around! Good luck for Wednesday.

KeepOn I'm debating doing similar, my hair has got very long, I didn't want to see my hairdresser till after 12wk scan as it'd be a nightmare sitting there for hours chatting without saying anything but I'm dying to get it hacked (and bleached within a inch of its life) now. Good luck with your scan today, can't wait to hear how it went.

Engels thanks for the heads up in the freckle-'tache, I'm very fair and that sounds like the kind of thing that'd happen to me. My Mum keeps banging on about me wearing a hat so perhaps I'll invest.

Camsie30 · 23/06/2014 08:42

Good luck today KeepOn!!

cheshirem2b · 23/06/2014 10:05

Saraswati I would second the recommendation for Bravissimo - as a big boobed lady I find them really helpful and the fitting isn't done with a tape measure - it's an experienced eye and try a a few on until you get the perfect fit. I've shopped there for years now! Love it and some very pretty designs too!

Work now know - told them this morning and all the ladies (Including senior partner) were really pleased for us - the men were less enthusiastic. I've said I will stay on the on call rota until September and then see how I am getting on and take it from there. Planning to work as long as I can I think - anyone else thought about when to start leave at work?

Saraswati · 23/06/2014 10:23

good luck keepon ! let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the bra recommendations. I'm on the cusp of big boobed (32DD usually, reckon I've maybe gone up a cup size) so dont know if i can go to bravissimo, anyone know? there is one in my town though so might poke my head in the door at lunchtime.

Loobyloo do you fin the dream genii a bit hot? I usually sleep on my left side so i don't really need to something to stop me sleeping on my back, however im getting painful hips as i kind of fall forward in the night. I feel like i need something to put between my legs. I'm sure a normal pillow would do but i want a special one :)

Meeting one of my best friends for lunch with her 6 week old and telling her today. She's been dying for me to get pregnant soon so I know she'll be really excited! Told my best friend over the phone on friday, she's single and lives in london and I usually go out drinking with her, the reaction was a bit muted!

Cheshire my contract finishes on 9th dec and I'm not going back after baby. I'm thinking of saving a weeks holiday so I could finish at the start of december, when I'd be about 36 weeks. I quite fancy a quiet couple of weeks before the madness of christmas and baby. Plus I think I might end up having an early baby and want to get all the loose ends tied up at work. Not telling work for a while though so I'll see what they say!

Camsie30 · 23/06/2014 10:24

I'm a bit stressy about telling work. My company, despite being mostly women, is incredibly unsympathetic and non supportive. I have my 12 week scan next Thursday, have another week at work and then am off on holiday, so am going to try and wait till I return if I can still hide it! Don't think I'm going to have an easy ride with them.

saras I'm a 32E. I'm pretty sure I need a bigger bra now. The back is a bit tight and the cup pretty full too. Seriously do not need these bangers to get any bigger!! There isn't a Bravissimo near me so I might have to do the online thing as I've heard they are good!

Morning all!

Good luck for today's scan, keepon!

The tips re sunscreen/hats/staying in the shade are good ones. I'm prone to melasma (that hyper-pigmentation mask) so have been shade-seeking like nobody's business lately. I see pregnancy is having no impact on my vanity. HmmGrin

Cheshire I was initially thinking of going on mat leave around end Nov, when I'll be about 32/33 weeks. But I've already had to start making adjustments to the work I do (and therefore telling more people than I was ready to inform just yet!) so I'm no longer sure if that will be the plan. I'll have to see.

Saras, I haven't found it too hot, even the last few days when to been pretty warm here. I definitely think its worth getting Smile

I told my best friend last night as when on phone to her she said she had dreamt I was pg! I think she's psychic lol. She was very excited for us. Grin

cheshirem2b · 23/06/2014 11:21

Just had a meeting with female senior partner who is happy for me, as things progress, to become more office based (some of our clients can be volatile in the police stations etc) and to come off the on call rota when I am ready - I was really surprised but she does have twin boys (now 9y.o.) and had a difficult pg and birth so think she understand the stress of this job.
Said I am hoping (expecting late baby) to finish work mid-December (about 12th) and then I'll get a week off before Christmas & Christmas week before due date and then whenever baby decides to make an appearance! This is all very real now! Eek!

Camsie30 · 23/06/2014 11:31

Thanks Madrigals x

Regarding the sun, I'm usually the first one out in the garden for some rays, but yesterday was unbearable! Sat in the shade which is most unlike me!! Baby needs vit D though!!!
