Boys names are definitely tricky, Wet. I think it's harder to find a classic boys name that's not overused than girls ones that fit that criteria. There's a few I like but only one I feel strongly about and I've yet to tell DH as I'm worried if he's not fussed about it I'll really struggle for a boys name!

sunshineandbiscuits · 02/07/2014 08:00

Hello wet! Nice to see a late Jan baby on hereSmile

We have found choosing names to be the other way round. There were a couple of classic boys names we both liked and I think we have probably settled on one. It's fairly common, but we have an unusual surname so it would be nice for the kid to have at least one name that other people can spell! Girls names are a bit trickier for us - there's one we both like that used to be quite unusual but is now in top 20. That doesn't bother us too much but not sure how well it goes with aforementioned surname. It feels like there is more choice for girls somehow, what do people think?

13 weeks today!

rumisyum · 02/07/2014 08:05

Morning ladies!

Sorry been a bit rubbish keeping up last few days. Been silly busy over here. Keepon & Mademoiselle I'm so sorry to hear you both still have to wait for definitive answers. I hope they come soon!

Just wanted to say good luck to my scan twins today! Eeeek. Fingers crossed it'll be good news for us all. Although it's very reassuring to know we have a medical scientist amongst our midst who can help explain things. Wink

12 weeks today!

helloelo · 02/07/2014 08:20

Good luck with scans Mini & Rum

So another twist in the sale of my unexpected date twin SIL.... (precis for those at the back - 42 y/o SiL pregnant with DC1 same number of weeks gone as me, this pregnancy was unplanned to a degree and very unexpected to us and rest of family. They don't yet know I am pregnant. They didn't know we know they are pregnant. Complicated much?!)

So anyway, DH has just spoken to her to try and arrange a get together so we can all share our news. She ended up telling him she was pregnant there and then on the phone. It turned out their other sister had told this pregnant sister that she'd already spilled the beans to her brother - my DH. God are you following? Not sure I am! DH's sisters still are in the dark about us though. We've arranged to see them next week when we will tell them.

She's been given an EDD of 1 day before me! It's just utterly incredible. DH's parents are going to FREAK OUT when she tells them she's due the same time as me. Hilarious.

ViviPru · 02/07/2014 10:04

Anyone else getting telling-people-fatigue? I am a bit. After all my posturing about not wanting to announce on FB I'm getting sorely tempted to do just that....

LulusMiniEgg · 02/07/2014 10:07

Good luck Mini and Rum so excited for you.

I love this story Vivi! There is nothing I like more than a coincidence, it drives my DH mad and this is fabulous! Such a happy time for your family. Are you and your SIL close?xx

ViviPru · 02/07/2014 10:21

Lulu we're as close as you can be when you live 200 miles apart; when we get together with DH's sisters we all get along famously, the pregnant sister did the reading at our wedding and we chat online a bit about camping as we are both camping geeks. She's quite a private person who avoids the limelight so I think she'll be quite relieved at our news as it will divert some of the family attention from her.

The eldest sister has two kids who are nearly grown up now and is very maternal, she's been dying for more nieces and nephews but philosophical about the fact that she may never get them from us or her DSis. Apparently she is fit to bursting with excitement about her sister's news so she'll probably combust when we tell her we're expecting too!

cheshirem2b · 02/07/2014 10:23

Morning ladies!

Good luck for the scans today mini and rum!

vivi that all sounds very complicated but will be very exciting for your family!

Well I got ready for work today and my work suit trousers are definitely a lot tighter today than they were yesterday! I am definitely going to have to go and get maternity trousers this week for work! Problem is I have to wear a suit for Court so was looking for grey trousers (black attracts cat hair in our house!) but I can only find black... any ideas?

13+6 today!

Minibagel · 02/07/2014 10:41

Back from the 12w scan and all was well, with a very cooperative bouncing little baba (maybe its a girl, DS1 was a right wriggler)

Decided to eat my lunch in the car to work and had to pull over in a lay by to wretch. Is that psychosematic (sp?) or whatever? Not wretched at all yet. But its like now I know there is definitely a good chance we will take home a wee baby, now i'm going to get sick?!

pru how exciting about your sis in law, I bet you can't wait to share your news now.

Minibagel · 02/07/2014 10:42

There were more ladies with scans today other than just rum and I but I have baby brain. Hope you have good experiences

Minibagel · 02/07/2014 10:43

12+3 they moved me forward 1 day.

MightyQuin1201 · 02/07/2014 10:51

I've got a pretty funny coincidence story- my two closest friends at work are also pregnant and we are all within 4 days of each other! We're thinking of telling everyone that we we're kidnapped by an alien spaceship when we make our announcement at work. My boss who line-manages two of us is going to FREAK OUT when she realises she will lose half her team for a year...

ViviPru · 02/07/2014 10:55

Oh god Quinnthat's incredible!

Saraswati · 02/07/2014 11:07

yey minibagel glad all was well :)

Still feel nauseous today but havent been sick yet, unless 2am counts? i guess it does. I had to get out of bed to vomit, thats only happened a few times. I'm definitely having a hormone surge, was grumpy yesterday, then all the puking, and this morning I have a face full of spots and my boobs are agony when they haven't hurt for weeks. Is there a 14/15 week hormone surge? I'm off to google :)

ilovelamp78 · 02/07/2014 11:08

Congrats mini my scan isn't until this afternoon so I'm just procrastinating over laundry and stuff and trying really hard not to think about it.

Big squeeze to rum today for her scan also

Haha Quin that's amazing you have to do the alien story and tell us how it went down ;)

Camsie30 · 02/07/2014 11:09

Good luck today rumisyum! I can't actually believe I'm 12 weeks pregnant today! Had such a silly smile on my face all the way to work. My scan is tomorrow and I can't wait. Taking the day off to hang out with my Mum and relax. Not planning to tell work for another 2 weeks which also means I'm not telling friends either as I'm too paranoid about Facebook etc... But am on holiday the week after next so just have to hang on and keep hiding it for another 10 days! Love to everyone ??????

LulusMiniEgg · 02/07/2014 11:35

Oh wow Mighty that's great! Our team of 3 at work will be down to one by Xmas, first my boss got pregnant now me. The owner of the company was actually really sweet about it, just said how wonderful children are and it's all part of life!
There is something quite satisfying about stitching work up though!

rumisyum · 02/07/2014 11:40

So there's a super chilled out, thumb-sucking little bundle of adorable in my belly. GrinGrinGrin SO PLEASED. I'm finally starting to feel like I can relax and enjoy this pregnancy. Smile

Based on the size of the little'un they wanted to bring my EDD forward by 3 days, but I declined. I know I couldn't have conceived that early & I'd rather not be unnecessarily hassled for induction, so I'm sticking with Jan 13th.

Hurray for bouncing babas, Mini! And good luck for yours later, ilovelamp!

I don't think we're going to find out baby's gender before s/he's born, but I do love a good guess. So here's my scan picture. Nub theorists, do your best! Smile

And awesome stories of pregnancy coincidence, Pru and Quin! I bet the people around you are going to love that when they know. Smile

Pru to avoid pregnancy announcement fatigue (or to try to), we're planning a BBQ in August, ostensibly for my husband's birthday, but hoping we can just tell all the friends that come our news at that point. Our friends tend to be quite geographically scattered, so it will save trying to organise a million different meetups in different parts of the country!

Loobyloo893 · 02/07/2014 13:28

Fantastic news about the scans. Really pleased for you Grin

lindamagoo · 02/07/2014 13:32

congrats on the scans ladies Smile

Frances79FirstTime · 02/07/2014 13:35

Congratulations on the scan Rumisyum - I have mine on Friday and as long as they don't change my EDD I will also be the 13th Jan. Getting quite nervous about it now, but can't wait to see it!
