Keep - the Down's risk calculation takes into account your NT measurement, free beta hcg and pappa hormone levels, weight, age and gestation by scan, smoking status, diabetes status and whether you've had another pg affected by ds. So really, any number of things could affect it! I could've explained that to you before, sorry xx Great news on getting another go at cvs. Got everything crossed for you Thanks

Saras are you still taking your meds? Sad Gutted you're still feeling rubbish! Thanks xx

ilovelamp78 · 01/07/2014 20:20

Glad you are getting another CVS appt keepon
Got my fingers crossed for you x

Saraswati · 01/07/2014 20:21

rpopz I stopped them as I was feeling better and they make me really drowsy, which makes me feel sick! I think I'm just having a bad day. Saw my hairdresser last night and she was telling me how she was sick for the whole 9 months Shock I think she jinxed me!!

RPopz · 01/07/2014 20:25

Haha isn't it nice when people give you helpful little tips like that!! Well I hope it passes soon for you

13+3 (keep forgetting!)

Aww Kate congrats :)

Rpopz- I really struggle to explain this- I know the screen takes into account various factors. What I didn't realise what that the Nuchal fold measurement could be classed as normal- then my age could change that. I know everything is inter mixed- I just didn't realise the Nuchal fold measurement could be ok for one age and not another if you see what i mean. Argh. I was convinced it was just my bloods that we're high risk due to the high hcg beta and low papp- a. I know my age influenced the bloods risk.bi assumed a Nuchal fold measurment would not be taken into account in its own right, iyswim, unless it was over 3mm...

God, I'm confusing myself now. Off to bed it is for me. This is what the not knowing does to you!

Madem- hope you are ok x

cheshirem2b · 01/07/2014 20:50

kate congrats! I'm a 1/1/15 due date too!

RPopz · 01/07/2014 20:52

I see what you mean Keep. Yes everything influences everything else. For eg, if your blood markers were abnormal but you were a smoker that would make them more normal... and therefore your risk would be lower than a non smoker with the same results. Often when midwifes forget to tell us a woman is a smoker - and we have to recalculate their risk to take it into account a few days later, it comes out lower than the original risk. Thus giving the impression that being a smoker decreases your chances of having a downs pregnancy. Basically it is quite complicated is what I'm trying to say! Wink Sleep well Grin x

KeepOnPloddingOn · 01/07/2014 21:01

Rpopz- are you a doctor of some sort? I missed this in midst of my panic!

Ps- I'm not a smoker sadly haha

RPopz · 01/07/2014 21:05

I'm a medical scientist. Part of my job involves helping to run the Down's screening service for the county where I live Smile x

KateTheHuman · 01/07/2014 21:06

Thanks Keep! Thanks Cheshire! [Grin]

RPopz · 01/07/2014 21:06

I wish I was a doctor Wink

KeepOnPloddingOn · 01/07/2014 21:12

Rpopz- wow! This is even more impressive- a scientist In our midst :) ;) how cool. I guess it must a pretty amazing job / career to have - especially right now :)

RPopz · 01/07/2014 21:34

I was still shitting myself about my Downs risk regardless though! Wink

KeepOnPloddingOn · 01/07/2014 21:39

I would imagine even more so!? Sometimes ignorance is bliss ;)

MademoiselleG · 01/07/2014 22:12

I am still alive Grin , just keeping busy and wishing the days away until we finally have someone confirm the provisional diagnosis.
Night night!

Wetthemogwai · 01/07/2014 22:18

Can I join?! 9 weeks +4 and due January 30th.

Got my scan date through this morning and it's not til 24th July which seems like an age away! So still very much in the worrying stage and I'm constant need of reassurance.

Have a 3 year old dd already and dp works away so I'm on my Todd mostly neglecting dd while I nap on the couch and fob her off with the 'mummy's a little but poorly' excuse!

Yey for January babies!

Minibagel · 01/07/2014 22:24

Welcome to the january bus wet you just skipped on in time with that edd :) Any more late jan babies want to join us? We won't bite. Lurkers delurk!

ViviPru · 01/07/2014 22:31

Hey Wet! Nice to have a later January-er with us, especially since half of us have now been given December due dates!

Bet there's lurkers galore, Mini!

Wetthemogwai · 01/07/2014 22:38

Just snuck in! EDD was originally the 31st so even more sneaking!

Me and dp are currently having a heated text debate over baby names, we've got a girls name sorted but well and truly stuck on boys!

KeepOnPloddingOn · 02/07/2014 06:26

Welcome wet!

I find boys names awfully hard too! Many do I hear :) your scan will come around in no time.

Well I am up watching teletubboes with dd. She decided to wake at 530... Ouch!

Hope you feeling better today sara and anyone else iffy yesterday

Aww mads I feel your pain! I go to bed at 9ish generally. Dd is and always has been, am early bird regardless of her bedtime. She is in bed for 6 though- which is lovely ;) haha

Loobyloo893 · 02/07/2014 07:09

Welcome wet.

Know how you feel with the early risers. DS is usually up by 6 although today he didn't wake up til 6.45! I'm normally awake by 5 these days though so not much use lol.

For the first time in over two weeks I wasn't sick yesterday! Woohoo Grin still felt sick but it's definitely an improvement.
