Evening ladies!

I now have a nursing chair in my nursery, very scary!! It's a glider and footstool which my aunt has given me, it's so comfortable I can see ill be snoozing in it a lot!hadnt seen my aunt since I announced so was really nice to be fussed over and talk babies. Then I went out for a lovely meal at a posh restaurant with my DH tonight and didn't feel sick once all day, today is a good day! Hope everyone is doing well (try not to murder the DH linda!!)

OMG! I just woke up to find I have caught NITS from my friends 5 year old yesterday. Don't think I have had nits since the early 80's!!!! Can anyone recommend a pregnancy safe way of getting rid of them all?

Saraswati · 29/06/2014 08:24

beth arghhhhh makes me feel itchy just thinking about it! My sil swears by combing tea tree oil through her kids hair, leave it overnight then wash out. She doesn't like all the chemicals in nit lotion and i don't think they would be good for a pregnant lady.

14+2 and felt some squirming last night eeek! :)

Loobyloo893 · 29/06/2014 08:27

Morning all.
Saras, the glider chairs are fab. We had one for DS nursery and I still use it now. It's moved into our bedroom and I love curling up and having a read and a snooze in it Smile so exciting having something ready for baby! Anyone else bought anything yet?

10+3

KeepOnPloddingOn · 29/06/2014 08:53

Hey all,

sara your chair sounds lovely. I agree they look so cost in a nursery :) I am tempted to get on this time, but imagine. I will just bring the little mite in beside me to feed most of the time as I am too lazy (big no no but most I know do it - so long as it's done safe...)

beth what about an electric comb that zaps the lil fuckers! Haha, I am evil.

looby I have bought some next sleep suits with the attached mits as these are a lifesaver , last ages and wash well- oh and are mega cute! I also have bought a swaddle blanket as I found swaddling a bloody miracle worker for my dd who was awful at napping. There are mixed guidelines on swaddling too, but I did it safely.

This time around I shall be a bit more laid back and take a more instinctive approach to parenting - or swaddling/ baby wearing / co sleeping (at times) I found the rigidity of following guidelines terrifying and unhelpful. Each to their own though.

Feeling positive today. Have mil coming over. Another one who obviously thinks I should terminate if my baby has downs. It ain't happening ... Gonna stay strong and stand by my choice. I should add she is a nice person, but is very ignorant about disabled people.

Anyway! Have a good day all.

12 + 3

KeepOnPloddingOn · 29/06/2014 08:55

I am not saying people who choose to terminate are ignorant by the way, sorry that comment seemed to imply that. I am totally pro- choice.

cheshirem2b · 29/06/2014 09:04

Morning all!
Went to see my friend and her little girl yesterday. As she's pg again we had a lovely pg chat about stuff in general.
I'm working today but could do with a lazy day instead doing the washing etc.
Currently sat in bed with a cup of tea (DH is out this morning) so I suppose I should get up really...
Have a lovely day everyone!

Saraswati · 29/06/2014 09:11

looby I haven't bought anything yet, me and DH agreed we would wait until 20 weeks and I've told family this too so they don't start buying! I'm a bit superstitious! But we have both taken the day of 20 week scan off work so we can go shopping afterwards after hopefully a good scan.

I feel a bit weird about having the chair already but my aunt is having building work done on her house and wanted it out of the way. She bought it for my granny to sit in at her house when she was getting less mobile, I was very close to my granny and even though she died nearly 10 years ago I still miss her everyday. I sat in it yesterday and had a little cry, if Jesus is a girl (which I think she is) my granny's name will be one of her middle names.

keepon it must be so difficult for you to have lots of other peoples opinions over what you should do about your baby. But you sound like you are very strong and will do what is right for you, that is the main thing, it is your and your DHs choice, nobody else matters.

Allthefours · 29/06/2014 09:21

Although I haven't posted much, I have followed the threads, but find myself jumping off the January bus.

We had our 12 week scan on Thursday, sadly there was no heartbeat. We are heartbroken. I am now in limbo waiting for things to start naturally with an appointment to go back next week if not. The hardest part to comprehend is that I had no idea, no pain or bleeding or any other indicators that anything was wrong.

I wish you all very happy and safe pregnancies.

cheshirem2b · 29/06/2014 09:32

allthefours sorry to read your update. How heartbreaking for you. Hope you get lots of support. Thanks

KeepOnPloddingOn · 29/06/2014 10:17

allthefours I'm really sorry to hear your sad news. I hope things get resolved quickly for you. Take care x

RPopz · 29/06/2014 11:02

So sorry Allthefours xx Thanks

It is difficult having to factor everyone and their dog's opinions... Keep. Stick to your guns. I always ALWAYS said I would terminate a Down's pregnancy but the minute I actually became pregnant I knew in my heart of hearts I'd never be able to. And then I saw the scan.... forget it. Maternal love is a powerful thing! Thanks

lindamagoo · 29/06/2014 11:11

allthefours I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, hope you have lots of support huni Thanks

keepon you stick to your guns huni, don't let anyone talk you into doing something you don't want Smile

We had a nursing chair, absolutely loved it but gave it away when we though our family was complete Sad We have a changing station, baby swing/chair and steriliser already Smile

Oh yeah and just to let you know, OH is still alive, I fell asleep before killing him last night Grin

mummyk8 · 29/06/2014 11:17

Allthefours I'm so terribly sorry to hear your news.

Beths I would say tee-tree oil but you'll need to check this out with the pharmacist as I know when your pregnant you need to be a bit more mindful regarding the essential oils used as they can have different effects.

fancyacupoftea · 29/06/2014 11:20

Hi everyone. Haven't posted in an age but have been lurking.

Allthefours I'm so sorry to see your heartbreaking news. I hope the next stage is not too difficult. Love to you and the family xx

Keepon these people who are telling you to terminate can do so because they haven't made a connection yet. Ignore them as you do have the connection. But once the baby is born they will love him/her Down's or not.

And obviously, love Mademoiselle, we all have our fingers crossed about your next scan and are all hoping they made a massive error.

As for me, am 13+1 with 2 dating scans under my belt (greedy) and the spending has started. Can't help myself although I know I shouldn't. However, if I didn't then I'd be struggling to get too excited - buying things is my way of expressing my happiness and excitement!

Linda - well done on your restraint. He might come in handy when you have 3 kids to look after...

cheshirem2b · 29/06/2014 11:31

keep my mum asked me today... If you found out baby has ds what would you do? I just replied with I'm keeping my baby regardless. Stick to your guns and do what is right for you like you are doing.

In other news... Lazy day here. Washing bedding (love clean bedding) and doing a bit of cleaning but other than that I'm still in my pjs! Grin

blizy · 29/06/2014 12:46

So sorry to hear your news Allthefours Thanks

Keep, your baby your descision, I hope you are getting through the day ok.

Lazy day here too, still in pj's and considering a bath. I'm feeling awful with bloody hayfever and was up during the night vomiting, such fun!
I gave everything I need for baby, we kept all of dd's things, we will use it for thud baby except for a few of dd's special items, they are in her memory box. Although I am thinking of selling the pram, it's a mamas and papas mpx. They have now disontinued it so will be hard to buy bits for it. I'm thinking of a sola, I love the bright colours.

MademoiselleG · 29/06/2014 14:08

Allthefours I am so, so sorry to read your news. It's so hard when you just expect it all to go well and be straightforward...and then it isn't. I am sending you and your OH tonnes of love, hugs and kind thoughts. Life can be so unfair.
Take really good care of yourselves.ThanksThanks

KeepOn you are absolutely admirable. I am in awe at your strength and determination. I really hope and pray that tomorrow is a good day for both of us.Thanks

MademoiselleG · 29/06/2014 14:09

Oh and blizy I am always so excited to read your updates, I am just so happy for you that it's all going so well so far!!!GrinGrin

KeepOnPloddingOn · 29/06/2014 14:20

blizy I empathise on the hayfever. It isn't called a fever for nothing. Bloody awful. Hope you are taking it easy.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging posts. My family only mean well- they are all educated and open minded people, I think they are just worried for me. I'm still their baby I guess- despite being an adult..I know they must be scared and mean well. The health implications are scary, they must be thinking about that too- the strain etc. I so see where they are coming from. They obviously aren't imposing their views on me, but all have made it clear what they think iyswim...

Mil has been great and we haven't discussed it today. I am just going to be really positive about downs now and that way hopefully they will follow my lead. I know I prob sound deliriously naive , but what's the alternative!

Enjoy your roasts :)

KeepOnPloddingOn · 29/06/2014 14:22

madem you are the strong one. Please let me know how you go. I have everything x for you xx
