Thanks mads. The more I research the more I convince myself my dc has downs.

I just want to be clear on what my chances are - what they really are...

I am driving myself scatty, but it is human nature ...

keepon try not to worry too much about the risk factor, like others have said lots of people have had high risk results and baby didn't have DS and a good friend of mines had very low risk results and her amazingly gorgeous baby girl was born with DS

KeepOnPloddingOn · 28/06/2014 08:35

Thanks Linda. My babies Nuchal measurement isn't a risk factor bit is above average. My bloods were the risk factor- --or should I say the hormones In the blood.
Because of these two things, I cannot see how it is going to not be downs...

Despite many stories of false positives, I feel my circumstance is that there is a high chance. I guess I will think that though. Anyone would?

lindamagoo · 28/06/2014 08:36

Beth my advice would be, as hard as it's going to be for you, stop all contact with him for now, it's a stress you don't need while pregnant, take care of yourself and baby for now, go to a lawyer when baby is born to sort out getting DNA tests done and contact CSA then, even of he's right about it only being a shit amount a week make him pay it. I'm so angry for you huni Angry

MademoiselleG · 28/06/2014 08:43

Big hugs keep , you are so brave. ThanksThanks

lindamagoo · 28/06/2014 08:59

Yeah your right keepon anyone would Sad it's a scary time not knowing for sure. I'm 43 and even though I've had both my boys at an older age and they are fine I'm convinced this one won't be, age and health are a factor this time round as apposed to just age Sad

cheshirem2b · 28/06/2014 09:02

Morning all!
Keep you are amazingly brave. Your baby will be beautiful regardless of ds but I really admire your courage.
Beths TT is an idiot. I'd recommend seeing a family lawyer about it.

My online shopping arrived yesterday from asos...
One top going back (waaaaaay to big) and under bump jeans going back as they just aren't comfy. Think I'll try over bump ones instead. Other than that the rest were great!

Camsie30 · 28/06/2014 09:13

Cheshire I just ordered some jeans online from Seraphine in the sale, no idea what they'll be like but they look nice. There was an article from one if the broadsheets online saying that they were the best ones. I'll report back x

KeepOn - Google is not your friend!! It certainly isn't inevitable. Unless your risk is greater than 1 in 2 (which I have seen before Sad ) A risk is just a risk. It's a screening test, not capable of a definitive diagnosis - and false positives can occur (and false negatives). The DQAS website might be good for definitive statistics rather than anecdotal blogs. Hugs lady x Thanks

KeepOnPloddingOn · 28/06/2014 12:45

Thank everyone. Just had a massive nap and feel much better. Dd had me up at 5am! Google and tiredness do not help, :)
Blogs are anecdotal and helpful in many ways- but certainly not others. (For me)
Off out soon. All I am doing is eating. At least I have my hearty appetite still hehe.

Have a good day all x

Welshwabbit · 28/06/2014 13:43

Camsie I have just dug out my seraphine jeans from last time round. They are very comfy and have served me well.

RPopz · 28/06/2014 14:34

Keep forgetting!! 13+0

RPopz · 28/06/2014 14:34

Glad you're feeling better Keep

Minibagel · 28/06/2014 15:18

Thanks for the bf advice mad and others. I do feel about 50% optimistic for this time around. I will check out those books you recommend and the videos.

keep you're doing whatever you need to to get you through the next few days. I'm so glad you can talk about those feelings and thoughts here. You're right, there is so much misinformation about the test and ds itself.

Wearing mat jeans for the first time again today. Ahh bliss. My bump looks significant though, I had a woman at the till staring at it then to ds1, then back to the bump again. She said nothing. Thank god!

I have downloaded the art of bf to my kindle mad, thanks, will start tonight. I've had two naps today, god love the weekends, but still feel tired.

rumisyum · 28/06/2014 21:02

Mad I had a vision of you clearing out your friend's wardrobe & taking the clothes off her back, leaving her naked for the rest of her pregnancy. Grin Baby better come soon!

My baby book just informed me that as I lie here on the couch, lazily eating cherries & scanning the book, 580000 neurones (brain cells) are being formed each minute in my little one's developing brain. How surreal is that?! Every so often my mind boggles at the sheer wonderment of another human being growing from scratch inside me.

No wonder it's so knackering. Let's hope some of those growth hormones rejuvenate a brain cell or two of my own. Lord knows I could use them. Wink

lindamagoo · 28/06/2014 21:15

I tried to bf ds1 but found it too painful then spiraled into a downward depression with the pressure I put on myself to do it, it was my mw that told me to stop and try bottles instead and I'm glad I did but I still tried again with ds2 but, can't believe I'm saying this, his wee mouth didn't fit over my nippel Shock he ended up in neonatal so I just expressed for a while, this time I'm going to do breast and bottle and hope it goes well

lindamagoo · 28/06/2014 21:30

nippel = nipple Smile

sunshineandbiscuits · 28/06/2014 21:43

I'm on the train home from a day out at London Pride. So knackered but had a great day. I'm definitely getting some energy back as even a week ago I wouldn't have been able to do half as much without some serious rest. Plus I got to wear by Baby on Board badge in the parade and see this year's Eurovision winner live in Trafalgar Square Smile

OK, time to fall asleep now. DW will wake me up when it's time to get off I'm sure. 12+2 today.

lindamagoo · 28/06/2014 21:57

My friends are away to Dublin pride, the Facebook pictures tell me they are having a great/drunken time Smile I on the other hand am in bed trying to stay away from my drunken oh who I'm going to kill
