Hooray for lots of positive scan news! Big Grin on my face reading through it!

KatnissEvermean · 27/06/2014 05:00

I'm so happy to hear about all the scans that went well yesterday, congratulations to you all.

helloelo, we're only having a small-ish wedding, 24 people to the ceremony and 75 to the evening. How about you?

I've been having crazy mood swings. I was really grumpy with my DP yesterday morning, but last night we were choosing which words we'll say at the wedding ceremony. There was a Pam Ayres poem as a suggested reading, and I was reading it aloud to him and laughing because I didn't think it was very nice, but then I got to the end bit about giving him flak and just burst into tears!

We're having a big family meal out next Thursday, as my lovely aunty and uncle have come to visit from Cornwall. It's perfect timing as I'll just have had my scan, so all being well we can announce the pregnancy then.

I can't believe people are coming out and asking people if they are pregnant! How rude!

Saraswati · 27/06/2014 06:10

Hooray for all the great scans yesterday!

I had a work meal last night and a breakfast meeting this morning, which was a good excuse for not drinking but I'm knackered!

Got my combined results yesterday, 1 in 2200, maybe not as low as I would have liked but definitely low risk so I'm going to try not to be silly and worry about it. What will be will be. Thinking of those who have had bad news, hope you are doing ok Thanks

Sickness has reduced to once every other day or so, and I've stopped my meds. I'm hoping that it'll totally go over the next week or so - there is light at the end of the tunnel! Just got to get my appetite back, does anyone know if they weigh you at the 16 week appointment? I'm going to try to gain a bit but my appointment is on 15th jul so not much time, worried the mw will tell me off as I've lost about 6/7 pounds since booking in.

14 weeks today - second trimester!!

KeepOnPloddingOn · 27/06/2014 06:24

sara glad you had good results back. Pretty sure that's a helluva good result - I wouldn't worry :) (easier said than done)

Mine is 1 in 27 - this is less than a 4% chance, that is considered high risk and yet realistically it doesn't take a genius to see the odds are against anything being untoward haha! I totally know where you coming from, I was thinking yesterday - even of I didn't get worrying results back I would still inevitably be worried about something or other anyway! It's a mum thing :) :) welcome to motherhood haha!

I had spotting yesterday after intercourse (thought is cheer self up , that didn't work hehe!) all gone now thankfully! Dh will not being having any more for A while after that :/
dec that is baby brain at its best! Hehe

What ever happened to the lovely bangkok and her twins!!?

Loobyloo893 · 27/06/2014 07:08

Morning all. Fab news about all the scans yesterday, just the news we all needed I think.
For all of those a bit further ahead, was it around10 weeks you all had a but of a sickness surge? I remember it was a few weeks ago but can't remember when. I'm 10+1 and had a really rough couple of days Hmm

Bohemond · 27/06/2014 07:21

Great news on the scans.
Looby agree - I am 10 today and feel pants. Mind you I am not sleeping - can get to sleep OK but have woken up at 5am every day this week. Has anyone found anything that helps?

MademoiselleG · 27/06/2014 07:43

Weeks 9-10 were definitely the worst!! Good luck. Keep busy and remember: eating does make it better, even if it's the last thing you want to do! I've been having cereal for dinner or other weird stuff, anything quick and easy really!

Good luck. As Emily Oster says: ms is the sign of a strong pregnancy!

As for sheep, can't help here, I'm exactly the same. So I just go to bed early!

Great news about scans! !!

mummyk8 I have to have downs test by bloods as well because smudge wasn't in the right position. I'm in on 7/7/14 for it. Apparently takes 10 mins?

LadyCottington · 27/06/2014 09:13

Hi ladies, have just skim-read the last few pages. I'm too excited to take anything in as my scan is this morning! Good luck to the other ladies with scan appointments today.

I shall be back later after having read everything properly Smile Currently trying force some water down. Too much liquid makes me feel sick!

Dec2013mummy · 27/06/2014 09:32

Good luck lady :)

cheshirem2bI should have asked for more info about it as had never heard of that before. But I was just so pleased Baby was ok after bleeding for 9 weeks and pains my brain just didn't really compute anything. I wonder if anyone on here knows anything about downs testing with only bloods? Googleing it is on my todo list for today.

Best of luck to all with scans today.

cheshirem2b · 27/06/2014 10:31

mummyk8 essentially it is a blood test that measures protein and they combine results with your age etc to calculate the risk. Not as accurate as nt measurement as well but pretty accurate. Fx for us on that!

Saraswati · 27/06/2014 10:43

keepon you're totally right, I really admire your attitude! you have every reason to be positive about your result, when you put it at 4% it really is a very low chance there's something wrong. when is your cvs? hope you are ok.

looby 9-10 were the worst for sickness im afraid, then I started to get better about 12 weeks. I'm 14 now and it has reduced so much, I even ate some fruit yesterday! I think 9-10 were also the worst for hormonal craziness. Although I had a bit of that yesterday along with sickness, its very weird, I can almost feel the hormone surges then i throw up and cry about something stupid. Pregnancy is so glamorous.

My aunt is giving me an old glider chair of my granny's for the nursery which will be perfect as a feeding chair and she's dropping it off tomorrow as they are having building work done on their house. I'm so excited she's giving it to me but I'm also scared about having something for the baby's room so early. Kind of scary/exciting though! Will be good to see how big it is in the room then I can plan where I'll put the other furniture :D

littlecat123 · 27/06/2014 10:49

Hiya everyone and good luck for scans today just wanted to pop in and share my scan photo of little kitten haha. All seems well I didn't get to see much of the scan but got to see nice strong heart beat. Such a relief!

Loobyloo893 · 27/06/2014 11:37

Thanks ladies, nice to know there's some kind of reasoning behind it and it won't last forever. My lovely DH just bought me some Mcdonalds chips home for lunch. Just what I needed. Smile

KeepOnPloddingOn · 27/06/2014 12:16

looby mm I could murder mcd fries!

sara my general attitude is up and down, nothing admirable - just pretty normal I'm afraid :) but I am desperately trying to remain positive. Spoke to downs association today and they're very positive about having a baby with downs. My cvs is mond. Will know by end of week. I also found out that my low Papp-a hormone is not really an issue and only sometimes leads to a lowest birth weight- not a big deal. Phew!
It also means I get 2 extra scans and due to my downs risk We find out the at 14 weeks due to tests done :) :) so lots of positives despite it all.

Camsie30 · 27/06/2014 12:44

My friend just popped into see me with her FOUR day old daughter!! Had such a lovely cuddle and had to resist every temptation to blurt out my news!! She is absolutely divine, has made me even more excited!!

Haha keepon, they were good! Although I did have to share them with DS. Glad to see you're trying to be so positive about it all. I have lots if admiration for you Smile

RPopz · 27/06/2014 13:35

Cheshire - will you be in your second trimester by then? That test uses still uses scan measurements, either the crown rump length from your 12 week scan or the head circumference from your 20 week scan. Its not significantly more or less accurate than the nt test but they prefer to do the first trimester test for obvious reasons. x

Welshwabbit · 27/06/2014 13:54

Got my combined test results - 1/558 which is much, much higher than last time round (I think it was 1/10,000 or something then) but still low risk. I must have sounded a bit doubtful on the phone as the midwife talked to me about the harmony test. I know that this is silly (and I feel particularly bad as others have much higher risks - sorry!) but I think it is the contrast with my previous pregnancy. I have to bear in mind, though, that I am more than 3 years older which means a significant change in background risk from 1/700 to 1/285. So, stupidly, I am not quite as reassured as I as last time, but I am quite reassured!

Hope everyone else is doing well today.
