I wonder why they dont just do the cervical scan with the vaginal wand thing there and then to save anxiety of waiting, it shouldn't take long? I know these scan appointments are only 5mins long but I always feel like I'm out much sooner.

blizy · 26/06/2014 17:55

Lovely to hear some good scan news today. I have one tomorrow at the EPU again and also my booking appointment, I'm going to be in the hospital for hours!
Worrying a bit as I hurt my Back lifting a mindee into the high chair, I felt it go pop now I'm in agony. Going to have a bath to see if it helps.

littlecat123 · 26/06/2014 17:57

Wonderful to hear everyone's good scan news! Mine is tomorrow at 8:50 only time I'll ever be excited to get up early haha. Good luck to any scan buddies as well!

Also thinking of everyone who has had sad news this week will be sending lots of positive thoughts your way Thanks

Bugaboom · 26/06/2014 17:58

Nice to hear about all the good scans today. Mine is a week away but had 4 people ask me outright if I was pregnant today. It pissed me off a bit- I would never ask! And it's taking the edge of any announcement after my scan next week.

RPopz · 26/06/2014 18:05

That annoyed me too Bugaboom - everyone at work has been speculating about me for weeks! Thankfully only one person was rude enough to actually come out and ask me!

I think cervical scans are done by a different team so can't really just tag it onto the dating scan. To be fair I didn't even have an app with the gynae Dr yesterday, because they only decided at the last minute they were worried about my cervix.... but she saw me anyway. Was in the antenatal clinic for about 4 hours altogether yesterday!!

Minibagel · 26/06/2014 18:11

Ah ok fair enough. I thought sonographers would all be trained in that, because they have the wands in antenatal. I guess the consultant also wants to be involved to discuss care though.

Congrats on all the good news today. Hope you get some sleep tonight littlecat :)

Minibagel · 26/06/2014 18:14

I hated it when we told people about ds1 and their first reply was 'i'd already guessed!' So rude. Why can't people just be happy for you. They would probably be mean about you behind your back if you told them before 12w, saying it was too soon etc. You can't win!

Although before I had ds1 I would go through broody phases of being obsessed with wondering if friends/ colleagues were pg. Maybe its something you appreciate more once you've gone through it yourself?

RPopz · 26/06/2014 18:17

Oh Mini - most of my team at work have been speculating about me behind my back for weeks... a few of them have tried not so subtley to get it out of me... one of them actually accused me outright! Then today when I said I'd wanted to wait til 12wks to tell people because of the miscarriage risk they were all "oooh yeeeah, you did the right thing" WTAF!?! Angry

RPopz · 26/06/2014 18:18

Can't win like you said!!

Starbright24 · 26/06/2014 18:19

Omg! I have a baby inside me!!! Grin
Disbelief had been setting in along with nerves and paranoia but I saw my little baby today.
Seems to be a lazy sleepy little thing and finding measurements were not easy.
I've been put ahead 5 days but as I had short cycles it doesn't surprise me.
Very relieved. Loving my belly and love my 6cm baby.
Thanks for all the well wishes today and good luck everyone having a scan tomorrow
12+ 3

Minibagel · 26/06/2014 18:29

starbright YAY!!

LulusMiniEgg · 26/06/2014 18:36

Fabulous news on all the scans ladies! Smile

I also had a lukewarm response from work and friends to be honest. It does take the shine off a little when everyone just says 'I knew it' and accuses you of lying to them for the last couple of months. Bloody cheek.

I also had treatment for irregular cervical cells a few years ago. Is this something I should tell then? Got my booking apt on sat so will definitely mention x

Bugaboom · 26/06/2014 18:39

Great news starbright
The one that annoyed me most just rubbed my bump and said what's going on here? Unbelievable!
Only one more day then I'm off for a week. Hurrah!

RPopz · 26/06/2014 18:56

Did you have a colposcopy Lulu? It depends on the size of the piece of tissue they took apparently. Anything greater than 10mm can potentially weaken the cervix and be a (small) risk for premature labour. I told the midwife at booking in and she didn't seem too concerned. But when I had my scan yesterday and looked over my notes they decided they were! My biopsy was 11mm... so only just big enough to care about!! It's worth mentioning but I wouldn't worry too much about it. They can stitch the cervix if they scan it and it is too short x

That's exactly what it is Mad!!

KeepOnPloddingOn · 26/06/2014 19:10

Congrats star :)

mummyk8 · 26/06/2014 19:13

Thanks everyone I still can't seem to stop smiling :) It's also lovely to hear that all us scan sisters had positive magical results :)

RPopz Good luck with your cervix. I'm trying not to worry about it too much. I knew that I may need to have them stitched again in future pregnancies as they told me 11+ years ago when i had it done with my son so not a shock.

LulusMiniEg I would mention it at your booking in appointment. It's best to mention every little thing. Then if they think they need to keep an eye on them they can far better than what happened to me the first time where they didn't pick anything up until I was 4cm dilated at 22weeks. But more than likely it really is nothing to worry about.

rumisyum · 26/06/2014 19:17

YAY at all the happy scans! Such wonderful news, so pleased for all of you. SmileSmile

And my word at people's reactions. People can be such idiots.

Ha mini that's great. Made me chuckle!! I had true baby brain today. Went to get Ds a new pair of trunk.. Got some and then got to the swimming baths and couldn't find them... Realised I had left them on the self service checkout so had to go back and get them!! Rediculous!
