Haha rumisyum I probably should have named myself cheeseandwineareyum but again having to stay off the Brie and Red is really hard as I'm in France at the mo!

My thoughts are with keepon and mademoiselle I'm hoping you both get some better news in the days and weeks to come. Getting nervous for my scan now as it's still a week away, but loving the happy scan pictures of Jesus and co! Keep them coming ladies xxx

Oh and big hello to the newbies/ lurkers!

Hello all, just posting to say that my scan went well - baby was jiggling around the whole time meaning it took them ages to take the measurements! Told that everything looked fine and according to the measurements I am 12+6, which is pretty much bang on what I had guessed were my dates, unfortunately - so due date 1 Jan 2015 (I do belong here...just about!). Didn't get my combined risk results today as expected - at my hospital they usually do it all during your appointment, but apparently the machine is broken today - so I have been told they'll come by post, but I can ring for them tomorrow morning (which I'll obviously be doing!).

Thinking of you, keepingon and Mademoiselle.

helloelo · 25/06/2014 14:40

you made me laugh rumisyum I started wearing maternity jeans a couple of weeks ago and it was a huuuuuge relief. Just ordered a wedding dress from Seraphine to see if it could be a good option as I don't want to spend thousands on something I might not fit into later. Thankfully, in my country, nobody has even heard of this brand or the famous blue dotty dress (on sale now) so I'm not risking a hipster fashion faux pas.

My doc said a 11w uterus is just above public bone at this stage so it's not "proper baby bump" but some women do get what he calls a "redistribution of fat masses" (sorry, I'm translating here!), they get skinny elsewhere and fat is storing in he lower belly to "protect" our prize :)

... oh, and I did drink 2 small glasses of wine in the last 6 weeks BUT I got engaged and I had my birthday AND I stopped smoking straight away and I'm not cheating on that one even if everybody smokes here SO that's it!

Minibagel · 25/06/2014 14:45

welsh great news, glad miniwelsh is doing well. Thats pretty efficient that you can call tomorrow, isn't it?

hello which country are you in?

My uterus is about 4 fingers below my belly button (this is not my first baby) and I like to think I am quite in tune with my body. I have already noticed the same braxton hicks that I had with ds1 from 15w. Just a few seconds of uterine hardening which feels like I'm doing situps (ha! Me! Ha) and then it softens again.

rumisyum · 25/06/2014 14:46

Hurrah, Welsh! Excellent news about the scan. Smile Rubbish about the machine being broken (WTF?) but god thing you can get your results tomorrow.

Haha viv, Rumy is a good alternative name for the little one. Maybe I'll rename it that, and then my name would no longer mark me out as a boozy slattern. Wink

My kingdom for a massive wedge of brie, ilovelamp! Just today I was sighing over a brie & grapes sandwich for lunch. What are the French guidelines about food? I'd have thought they were a lot more relaxed about some of these things.

minibagel those yoga pants sound perfect. If only I could go to work in that sort of thing. How are you feeling about the scan next week? I'm fooling myself that I'm completely chilled.

Currently contemplating a 2nd lunch...

ViviPru · 25/06/2014 14:48

Bloody hell helloelo well done for stopping smoking straight away. Regarding the wine, are you reading Emily Oster? Bit of a hero among us on here....

Great news Welsh! Annoying about the broken machine but at least you won't be waiting too long.

I booked my Mindful Mamma class today - so excited about it and getting my book & CD. And breeeeaaaathe....

Minibagel · 25/06/2014 14:52

Who was it that said aldi do pasteurised brie? If you cut the mould rind off wouldnt this be fine?

I think im going to melt a camembert in the oven before this week is out and dunk a fresh french stick into it.

I had tartare sauce at the pub last night, not homemade mayo, and I feel more relaxed about eating mayo this time around. Anyone else?

rumisyum · 25/06/2014 14:54

Ooh, wedding planning helloelo! Seraphine sounds a lovely option. Smile And I went to a wedding recently and absolutely had a glass of champagne, so I'm all for having a glass at times of celebration! I'd have had more but my husband is being a booze fascist. Bless him, it's the only way he can really be 'involved' at the stage, so he's taken on the role of food & drink monitor, and he's being a bit strict.

And LOL at "fat redistribution"! How... tactful. I guess that sounds about right for me, though I am feeling what I think is my uterus a couple fingers or so above my pubic bone first thing in the morning lately. That's really interesting about Braxton hicks minibagel. I've been caught off guard by what I swear is a tightening feeling in my pelvis a few times recently, but didn't have a clue what it was. Hmm, you've got me wondering if it's that now.

Minibagel · 25/06/2014 14:55

I'm on the waiting list for pg yoga vivi can't wait. Already have my yoga relaxation cd on most days ahhhh

I do feel pretty chilled about next wed rum although as it gets closer I will feel a bit more nervous. Seeing babybagel at 10w means I am less worried about mc/mmc but obviously there could still be some developmental issue...that might not even be picked up til 20w (cheerful bagel wrist slap!)

We'll see how the week goes on...

Minibagel · 25/06/2014 14:58

It probably is rum its hard to explain it, but it seems to be like a pulling sensation similar to ab crunches but across a different part of your abdomen. If you are lying down (hello! I am) it also causes the bump to protude once the uterus is well and truly out of the pelvic bone cavity.

Apparently it can be down to dehydration...woops. Pass the water.

I'd have been happy if I'd bought the brie and made the sandwich, but this was a ready-prepared thing in a cafe, so I didn't chance it in the end. A baked camembert sounds perfect though. I know what's for dinner now. Smile

And I've had the odd runny yolk in home-prepared eggs. I love them too much. I don't much like mayo normally anyway, so that's not been a big deal for me.

That sounds just like it, minibagel. Ah, dehydration. I'll take it as a note to have a drink then!

And same - I'm feeling a LOT happier after seeing Fava at the weekend, but plenty time to get anxious. Wink

Minibagel · 25/06/2014 15:01

Yes definitely avoid sandwich shop ready made mayo fillings as you dont know how long they have been sitting there.

Welshwabbit · 25/06/2014 15:03

Thanks all for the good wishes! I am with all of you on the brie front - I miss it lots! I have had a few glasses of bubbly (one at each of the four - FOUR! - weddings I've had to go to when I couldn't really drink but couldn't tell anyone either) and one on my husband's birthday. Have also had a few runny eggs. Definitely more relaxed this time round - although I should say, on the booze front, that I had a sweep to "encourage" my son to make an appearance when I was 41 weeks last time round, and I was due to go to a party that night and asked the MW if it would be OK to have a glass of champagne. "Of course!" she said "might hurry things along". So off I toddle, swig my glass of champagne - and hey presto, my waters break in the very swish venue! Luckily, it really isn't anything like the films (if you're standing up, baby's head prevents it all gushing out) but I knew it was happening and had to make a sharpish exit!

helloelo · 25/06/2014 15:09

OMG vivi I just google Emily Oster and she sounds like my new hero! Will def keep me occupied while waiting for my scan later. Thank you so much!

mini I'm in F so I can def answer rum*'s question about our pg customs. Basically smoking is not frowned upon socially if it's just a cig a party. Champagne is not so much allowed as anyone with good sense will open a bottle when you announce you're pg. Bubble make it ok my mum says. Wine is fine under a glass a week. Mind me, our glasses are super small. We're not allowed the same types of cheese as in the UK and same for undercooked meat which is a real bummer as I would kill for a beef tartare! We're pretty much the same then :) except if we put on more than 1st 1/2 they scream at you.

LMSunshine · 25/06/2014 15:13

My thoughts are also with you keepon and mademoiselle.

Great news welsh, I also had my much awaited scan today and it was lovely seeing my baby for the first time. New due date is 27 dec so in my second trimester. I am going to stay on this thread with you lovely ladies if that's ok.

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up. Back to work l go not that I can concentrate Smile

Wow lots of news today.

MademoiselleG I'm so sorry to hear about your scan. I hope you don't have to wait too long to find out more. You must both be devastated. Lots of hugs and well wishes coming your way.

Hello Helloelo! Welcome!

Congrats on your scan welsh

I told my work friends/close colleagues after my scan and have received such strange reactions, aren't people funny?

"Oh great, so who's going to take over your work when you leave?"

"So you've basically been lying to us for the last 3 months"

"I thought your belly looked big"

"You didn't waste much time did you, you've only just got married"

Why can't people just smile and say congrats? Rant over!
