KeepOn your scan was yesterday, wasn't it? You were given the results very quickly, had they told you at the scan when you'd hear?

KeepOnPloddingOn · 24/06/2014 21:25

Thanks rpopz - didn't realise that!

Mini- I want the test so I can prepare myself ifs baby has downs - as you say :)

Thanks for all the support. Means a lot. Feeling reassured. Off to sleep. Looking forward to more answers tomorrow.

Minibagel · 24/06/2014 21:25

They always let you know within a couple of days with higher risk results I think? Low risk results are sent by post or to your mw who will discuss at your 16w appointment. Thats how it is done where I live anyhoo

KeepOnPloddingOn · 24/06/2014 21:26

Vivi- they said I would get call if there was a prob and I would get a letter if all ok within 3 days (I think)

ViviPru · 24/06/2014 21:28

Thanks KeepOn hope you manage to get some kip. Will be thinking of you.

Mini that's handy to know, thanks.

RPopz · 24/06/2014 21:29

That's how it works where I am Mini too - if your hospital is local to the lab then high risks can go out the same day.

LulusMiniEgg · 24/06/2014 21:35

Oh keepon, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Fx the cvs can be done ASAP and you will get good news.

Thinking of you xxx

cheshirem2b · 24/06/2014 21:39

Get some rest keep. We are all keeping you in our thoughts.

Saraswati · 24/06/2014 21:45

Blimey keepon I'm so sorry you're going through this Thanks hopefully you can get your cvs ASAP and like mini said there is much higher chance of it being ok than not x

KeepOnPloddingOn · 25/06/2014 05:49

Morning all. Slept ok... Woke up and remembered and felt sad again. The midwife assured me it is nothing I have done, it is just specific to this pregnancy. I still feel something must have caused the extra chromosome, surely? (If my baby does have downs) I am only 26! My dh is too.

I am too scared to google though, as saw lots about miscarriage rates being higher and still births- and thought, no way. I am not filling my head with more crap to mull over. I will love this baby no matter what. :)

Welshwabbit · 25/06/2014 06:11

Keepon just thought I would give you a bit of company at this early hour (my son has just kindly woken me up!). I went with a friend to have her CVS after she was given a high risk of Downs following the combined test. I remember the procedure being quick and the doctor was very reassuring. Her results came back fine. I think the figures on miscarriage given to patients are now regarded as very conservative as they are based on quite old research - there is a good chapter on this in Emily Oster's book Expecting Better. I hope you get some good news soon.

Ikkleme · 25/06/2014 06:15

Morning ladies! Just wondering if anyone had any tips on sore throat remidies... Had no sleep last night due to the pain I'm in :-(

blizy · 25/06/2014 07:18

Keep, my dd was stillborn due to the placenta being insufficient, nothing at all related to DS. I am so sorry if I have added to your worries, I will keep my big mouth shut. Sorry if I've been insensitive.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 25/06/2014 07:30

No blizy this was on google and another thread on here I posted on. I never thought you were being insensitive at all. I am so sorry to hear you went through that.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 25/06/2014 07:32

Welsh - thanks for your positive post. I have read the sawn. Cvs it is for me. I need to know.

Loobyloo893 · 25/06/2014 07:45

Hope all goes ok today keepon and they can clarify everything for you.

BethsBaba · 25/06/2014 08:17

Thanks again all. Your all so kind. It hit me around midnight that I'm going to have to do this all alone without DH and just what a shit he is for turning this magical time of my life into this heartbreak and upset.

MummyK8 Thanks for your reply. It's very hard not to worry. You read so many horror stories about over weight mums and sillbirth for example.

KeepOn Best of luck today hope you get the answers you need and they can sort you out the CVS ASAP.

Minibagel · 25/06/2014 08:18

Thinking of you keepon the odds really are on your side

sleepisforthetired · 25/06/2014 08:18

Keep - thinking of you today xx

KatnissEvermean · 25/06/2014 08:21

These threads are moving fast! Congratulations to everyone who has had a happy scan.

Good luck with your appointment today, KeepOn. Whatever happens you are going to have a beautiful baby.

I thought my sickness had gone because I hadn't thrown up for nearly a week, but it's back with a vengeance. I have told my manager that I'm pregnant and she's lovely, and she's let me take today off because I just feel so tired and rough. Anything more than lounging about on the sofa is hard work at the moment. Looking forward to the magical second trimester...

Lots of mood swings at the moment as well. Crying at TV. Started an argument with my DP last night because his laptop was taking too long to come on! I had to tell him to leave me alone for a few minutes until I got over it.

11+1

blizy · 25/06/2014 09:06

Keepon best of luck today, I'm thinking of you and holding your hand from afar. Thanks

MademoiselleG · 25/06/2014 09:42

Hello all. Sad news from me so don't read on if you'd rather not be worried. (I know. Silly thing to say).

We had our 12w scan Monday and got bad news. Our baby has severe brain issues and potential spine / nerve damage too. We are going for a re-scan in 2 weeks. Devastated doesn't even cover it. We hadn't prepared ourselves for this at all; my only fears were a mc or mmc, not a poorly baby. Trying to picture my life with a severely disabled child and just can't.

Apologies for dampening the mood and no doubt causing more worries to some of you already terrified about your 12 week scan.

I will stay in the background just in case we get better news than expected in two weeks - which is highly unlikely (thank you Dr Google) and hope that all the remaining scans go well in the meantime.

KeepOn , I have everything crossed for you too.

cheshirem2b · 25/06/2014 09:51

Madamoiselle I am so sorry to read your news Thanks I really hope that the next scan reveals that this was a mistake and everything is ok. In the meantime look after yourself and if you need us you know where we are xx

ViviPru · 25/06/2014 09:52

Oh Mademoiselle how horrendous for you - you must be going through all kinds of hell. I hope you manage to make it through the next couple of weeks without too much distress Thanks

mummyk8 · 25/06/2014 09:56

MademoiselleG No need for apologies , thats what we are here for to share all our experiences and support each other what ever the news. Oh gosh I can only imagine how awful this must be for you. I truly hope you get some more positive news at your next scan. x

KeepOn Thinking of you today. x
