Mini I'm I'm 11 + 2 and have felt baby move for a week or so no Smile

sleepisforthetired · 24/06/2014 15:36

Beth sorry to see your news. I have friends that for various reasons are doing it alone. Some became pregnant and relationship broke down during pregnancy, others unfortunately split after having kids.

None of them are any better or worse than parents in a relationship. So long as the child/children are loved and looked after (and to me put first) then it doesn't matter if 1 person alone or a team of 100 are raising the kids :) Put baby first, with your needs as a close 2nd and I am sure you will be wonderful

Mini I can feel something similar to some early movements with DS, kind of like a balloon moving rather than kick if you get what I am trying to describe?!? - although that was about 17 weeks (with DS). After Thursday, providing baby is well, I am going to believe they are movements!

sleepisforthetired · 24/06/2014 15:41

like water bomb balloons - swooshing about - that kind of sensation in the belly, slightly behind and lower than belly button

cheshirem2b · 24/06/2014 15:46

PS: I just did an ASOS shop as well - dress, leggings, cropped linen trousers and a couple of summer tops - £60! Happy Days!

12 + 5 Grin

Minibagel · 24/06/2014 16:08

beth sorry to hear about your relationship, what an emotional time to be going through this. What everyone else has said is great advice :)

Saraswati · 24/06/2014 16:16

Welcome Beth and sorry to see your news. Lots of good advice from the others and I'm sure you'll be fantastic, DH or no DH!

I want to feel movement! When did you lot feel it with DC1? I have lots of wind does that count Grin

ASOS sale you say eh.....

carron01 · 24/06/2014 16:21

Hey
Im new to this, but am 11+2. Scan next week! Sickness is really getting me down. Any tips ladies? Xx

Minibagel · 24/06/2014 16:22

saras It took me until I saw the movement with my own eyes to say I'd felt movement and that was 20w for me as I had a front lying placenta so movements were padded. I realise now that a lot of the feelings of movement before that werent all wind, the fluttery ones were ds1.

Its true what they say about everything stretching so much faster with subsequent children. This helps with feeling earlier movement apparently, although of course it also means my insides are stretched beyond repair :)

This morning I could feel my uterus half way up between my pelvic bone and belly button. It has grown loads in the last week, hopefully this means a great big bubba at my scan next wednesday.

Asos sale...I am going in you.

Ps. vivipru we have also been discussing tent options now we have outgrown ours. Great idea

Minibagel · 24/06/2014 16:23

Welcome carron hope you'll feel happy with us january mamas

carron01 · 24/06/2014 16:40

Hi Minibagel
Thanks for the welcome x
Apart from my morning sickness, i've felt suprisingly normal. Its great to hear how pregnancy is affecting others. Being my first its all new to me :)

ViviPru · 24/06/2014 16:54

Mini we've been talking about upgrading for years but after our old faithful tent sprung a leak on the last trip we thought sod it, if we don't get one now we probably never would and that might be camping days over. Least we'll get a summers' use of it this year and the thinking is that if we've already spent all that cash on one, we'll be more resolute to get back into it next year with the Prulet.

I placed a massive ASOS order last night!!!! Arghhhh. Been back to see and only 2 of the items I bought have gone in the sale so I've bought them again and will send the ones back from the first order. Can't wait to get my mits on the black maxi dress. Have a feeling I'll be living in that....

Welcome carron!

BethsBaba · 24/06/2014 17:04

Thanks all for the kind words about situation with DH and reassessment about and this is MW's term not mine but did make LOL having to have a 'dildo-cam' scan. Re DH in the last hour it's all turned very Chat Magazine with some woman from his work FB messaging me saying basically 'hands off he's mine now and is playing happy families with me and my 3 year old! So move on.'Wish I could say she was just a crazy lier but met her at his christmas do and she's just his type. You have to laugh or you'll cry so I'm trying to laugh.

Mummyk8 7st WOW well done. You have a DS right? can I ask were you pre weight loss size with him and did you any complications because of it? Please tell me to mind my own just worrying about being pregnant and so over weight right now.

carron Hi, this is such a friendly supportive place WELCOME!

LulusMiniEgg · 24/06/2014 17:20

Ooh there's loads on asos I missed! Do I buy more and send some back!!!

Hello to all the newbies, hope you like to chat, haha!x

sleepisforthetired · 24/06/2014 17:27

you seem to be holding up well - love the ""chat magazine" reference, made me smile and think you must be doing so well given the circumstances.
If there is truth to the OW, then better you know now so you can plan for the future. Easier now to get your ducks in line than when with a new baby/child (not saying ever easy - please don't see this as disrespectful, not intended that way. looking for a positive :) )

Hope you have plenty of RL support to help you stay strong, and to ensure you are looking after yourself xx

mummyk8 · 24/06/2014 17:28

i could swear that I felt some sort of movement last night that very faint fluttering like the feelings I had around 16 to 18 weeks with DS.

Beths Oh my gosh sending you lots of hugs.Stay strong it will get easier with time.

I was plus size when pregnant with DS but only about 2st over weight (I'm much bigger than that now).I had quite a few complications with my first pregnancy the biggest being Cervical insufficiency (incompetent cervix) and having to have a stitch but that was due to an infection. The only issue I really had due to weight was a poor quality scan photo at 22 weeks and having issues getting comfortable at night very early on. But then I have never had high BP or any other issues attached to being over weight and they are more the things to worry about than the actual weight (but I'm not a DR so don't quote me on that).

12+2

Minibagel · 24/06/2014 17:29

Yes sleep thats the kind of thing. It almost feels to me like a flickering heartbeat/pulse type movement to the left below my belly button.

I like your thinking re the tent pru Where to go to christen it, that's the question!

Oh Asos. I want so much. Going to order a couple of bits as I am running out of tops that fit over my boobs and trousers that do up over my bloaty bump.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 24/06/2014 19:47

Hi all. Has a call from midwife today to tell me we are in high risk category for Down's syndrome. I fell to pieces and basically could not take in a lot of what was said. Have to go to hospital tomorrow to discuss further.

Now I have calmed down and discussed things with dh I feel better. We have a 1 in 27 chance, with dd it was about a 1 in 10000 chance (or something extremely low risk anyway)

Although it is deemed high risk, we still have hope all will be ok. I am only 26 and my scan was fine - apparantly it is to do with my bloods results. I have to be tested next week and will have results at end of next week if it is. :/

Even if this baby is downs. I shall be keeping them. I just fear how hard it will be. Anyway! Must be positive. Sorry for the me me me. Hope all ok.

Loobyloo893 · 24/06/2014 19:51

Oh keepon, so sorry to hear that. I know how hard it is. We had a 1 in 5 risk with DS and had a cvs done. I was 26 at the time and nt measurement was only slightly high. Everything came back clear but I remember how it felt like it was yesterday. Do you know what tests you'll be having now?

rumisyum · 24/06/2014 19:52

Hurrah j200 and mad! Wonderful news! And thumb sucking... ahhh! So cute.

Beth I'm so sorry to hear about your partner's unfortunate timing. Ugh. I hope you have lots of other support & maybe you'll be better off without someone unhelpful.

I'm wearing my first pair of maternity shorts today and they are HEAVEN. Praise be, elasticated waistbands!

And I want to feel movements too! Can't wait for that. Smile

10+6

rumisyum · 24/06/2014 19:54

Cross post - Oh no, keepon. I'm so sorry to hear that, I can't imagine how worrying it must be. Do you know what tests you'll be having next? Keeping everything crossed for you that all turns out well. xx

KeepOnPloddingOn · 24/06/2014 19:54

Should add- Nuchal measurement was 2.10. I was told this is ok as anything under 3 is ok. I remember questioning the lady over it though during my scan and she was quite evasive and just said a measurement is a measurement ...

The midwife I saw after scan (to have bloods) said it was an ok measurement but it seems quite the high end of ok? The docs said my age is ok, the scan was said to be ok - so it must be just be the bloods? Argh I dunno. I will ask tomorrow. Sorry to go on.

mummyk8 · 24/06/2014 19:55

KeepOn What shocking news at such a young age. Whatever happens you'll be a wonderful mum with perfect baby. Thinking of you.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 24/06/2014 19:57

Thanks ladies. I will have to have the amino - something or other test. They put a needle through your stomach and take some amniotic fluid and then use that to detect downs for definite. There are also two other chromosomal defects they test , these are very rare though. I am shocked.

Starbright24 · 24/06/2014 19:58

Welcome newbies. beths its all been said already and hope for the best.

vivi have fun camping :) sounds great.

Well done all the scans today!

keepon hope the talk goes better tomorrow and they give you some useful information.

I've been on asos and bought some goodies. I was going to wait till after Thursday (scan day!) But who can resist a sale.

MS getting worse...too much visiting toilet. It has extended to evenings now and having difficulty keeping food down. Thought it was supposed to get better now not worse. grumpy me.

11 + 4 (yay! I remembered to put it in!)

Loobyloo893 · 24/06/2014 20:04

Keepon, ask them about having a cvs. From what I remember a cvs (where they use a needle to take a sample of placenta rather than fluid) can be done from 11weeks whereas amnio isn't usually done until 14weeks. It may be different in different areas but worth asking. If you decide to go ahead with testing and want to know what the testing is like I'm happy to share with you.
