spotti I like the name Dylan too, but DH doesn't! Men, eh?

Did any of you girls have any symptoms disappear around 5 or 6 weeks? I finally had mega sore boobs a few days ago so was so happy that I finally felt pregnant. Now it's gone. No symptoms whatsoever. I'm been on Dr Google and lots of people have had the same thing and then went on to mc. Arghhh someone tell me they have had disappearing symptoms too?! I don't feel at all pregnant anymore and this is the stage it's all supposed to kick in! :(

freneticfox · 20/06/2014 11:42

hanflan Step AWAY from Google. Seriously. I haven't googled a sungle symptom in about 48 hours now and I'm already more content. FWIW, my symptoms seem to wax and wane - I felt great for a few days with just sore boobs, no nausea, then last night I felt like I'd been hit by a pukey stick while an elephant used my tits as maracas.

And today I'm just colossally tired. I'm sure you'll be ok, try and enjoy the mini break :)

The superstitious stuff irks me a little - I'm not into all of that stuff and I most definitely don't believe in fate; DH is the same. We're not going to start buying baby things until after 20wks for logical reasons (plus I can get carried away when I'm yielding a credit card), but not keeping something in the house seems weird to me...!

freneticfox · 20/06/2014 11:43

sungle? I don't think that's a word. SINGLE*

hanflan · 20/06/2014 11:46

Thanks frenetic. I'm going to be terrible, I'll be stressing over every little thing until the 12 week scan! It doesn't help that a couple of very close friends have miscarried so it just feels very close and real.
Just need to keep remembering "I am pregnant". Nothing I can do will change what happens. Arrghhh.

hanflan · 20/06/2014 11:47

Does keeping a pram in the garage count as "in the house"? I don't think so... that's where mine would be, but for space reasons haha.

freneticfox · 20/06/2014 11:49

That's the way I'm trying to look at it. I have a reassurance scan on Monday after getting shooting pains in one side, I'm hoping that I can settle a little more after that. If you're worried, have a chat with your midwife maybe? I'm lucky in that mine seems to be really patient, no matter how daft my questions!

Knottyknitter · 20/06/2014 16:02

hanflan even the day before my scan! despite no period for 3 months and random queasiness on and off for two, I was convinced they were going to find nothing there because I felt so well that week! I'm sure you're fine too!

We're nowhere yet with names. There are a few we quite like but can't use for various reasons and two other babies due in the extended family at about the same time, so need to have a known short list really.

hanflan · 20/06/2014 16:43

Awww I can always rely on you girls to calm me down when I'm going mental having concerns! :)

toots123 · 20/06/2014 16:56

Hello! Mw appointment was long but fine. Feel like I know everything now with all the info she gave me!!

Re names. Ive loved Daniel for a boy for as long aa I can remember but new favourite this week is Jack :) also like Rory.
girls names I love are Kate Ava Abbie and Lily. Dh is meh about girls names so I think I might get to pick if its a girl!

Tilly28 · 20/06/2014 17:03

Hello, Had my scan today! All looking good, they put me at 11+5 so my due date is now the 4th Jan not the 6th :-) it was amazing to see the little blob (which is now considerably bigger) dancing around! :-) Feeling reassured now but it's going to be a long wait until 20 weeks! :-)

RetroHippy · 20/06/2014 17:09

My thinking is 'there's no reason for me not to be pregnant. Worked to stop me fretting whilst ttc, and is working now. My only symptom is boob pain. Very little vomming, tiredness etc.

Remember I said I thought if given the game away by wincing with boob pain in front of a colleague? Yup. She asked today. She was in class with me this afternoon, and apparently I was walking round with my hand on my belly. I actually do this anyway, especially in my fat pants as they don't have pockets, but with the boob thing too she guessed. Ah well! More the merrier eh?!

She was also impressed by my near lack of nausea and exhaustion. I've decided it's the 5pm Nutella on toast that sorts me right out. Always feel a bit ikky before I have it!

RetroHippy · 20/06/2014 17:13

Oh, and my top girl and boy names aren't on either list! Winner Grin this either means I have amazing taste, or they're super weird names...

So, I give you...

Felix and Pippa!

Pippa I just love, but could be subject to change. Felix is set in stone if it's a boy. Second name William after two much loved (one sorely missed by DH) grandfathers. I can't wait to tell my grandad I'm pregnant, the name if it's a boy will be the icing on the cake.

MundayCakes85 · 20/06/2014 18:19

Love a bit of name chat- we're set on Henry for a boy, although MIL kept going "oh yes Harry is a lovely name..." Er no this is going to be a Henry!
Also really like Esmé although have since been told its a character in Twilight. Never read/watched it so DH has vetoed it Sad he likes Effie as a nickname but can't think of a proper name to go with it?
Also had 25 week MW apt today- heartbeat a nice 140/ min. Love being team yellow and guessing sex Grin

fancyacupoftea · 20/06/2014 18:53

Sazzle tell me your discarded girls names!

I ate so much stilton whilst on a course today. Not even sorry.

RetroHippy · 20/06/2014 18:59

Munday, if your DH isn't into character names, Effie is a character out of the Hunger Games trilogy!

It's tough finding a name that isn't linked to anything or anyone.

fancyacupoftea · 20/06/2014 19:03

The boys name we like is really short and is actually a short version of a longer name. We don't like the longer name though and don't see the point of naming the child that if we never intend to call them by it. But it gives them options when they're older. What are your thoughts on this oh wise ones?

p.s. no nausea yet this evening. Must have been the stilton!

MademoiselleG · 20/06/2014 19:59

Another miserable evening here: nausea and overwhelming tiredness. Any Stilton left, fancy? I'll take anything. Although right now even the blandest of foods makes me gag. Maybe I'll just go to bed?

fancyacupoftea · 20/06/2014 20:02

Nah I ate it all. Sorry.

Try and go to bed. Have you still got an upset stomach too? I still think you might actually be ill on top of being pregnant...

MademoiselleG · 20/06/2014 20:18

No, definitely no upset stomach, just bone-achingly tired, despite napping with dd for 2 hrs this afternoon.

So, see if this dinner creates the usual food-envy: over cooked pasta with...nothing!Shock

At least France is doing quite well!! 2 goals in 2 minutes!

sazzlehopes · 20/06/2014 20:58

Fancy here you go: Ava, wren, willow, robin, Nia, Freya, Lyra, maud, Lydia - pretty random mix but I tend to collect as I hear them and we were ttc for 14 months so I had lots of time.

Someone once told me to test out a name you should stand in your garden and shout it out to make it seem like you were calling you kid in for dinner. If you felt like a prat it was probably a bad choice!

Hanflan I'm embarrassed to say I was poas most days and even did one on my 12 week scan date. No symptoms does that to you sometimes!

I too am unsure about whether to give a proper full name on birth cert or not. So say I like Ned, should I call him Edward on his birth cert or not as I don't really ever want to use that as his name?!!! And what happens at school, would he be Edward and have to tell everyone no, my name is Ned? That is just a pain....or would it only ever matter on his passport?

sazzlehopes · 20/06/2014 21:00

munday never worry about that....different generations will associate names with different things....I know an effie, she is a cutie and it's not short for anything. Love it.

fancyacupoftea · 20/06/2014 21:14

Sorry you're feeling so rubbish Mademoiselle. Hope by the time I've written this you've taken yourself to bed (which I might do in a minute as I was supposed to mark 165 questions tonight, am on 20/165 and my eyes are drooping and the words are merging. The poor A Level students will all get incorrect marks if I continue).

Sazzle some of those names are lovely - I particularly love Lyra but could never call my daughter that because of His Dark Materials which I hate. Why do books/films/TV/celebrities/children have to exist and ruin names for me?! Not fair.

MademoiselleG · 20/06/2014 21:43

Love a lot of your names Sazzle! I think I'd always give the long version of a name on birth cert/passport so that the child can choose to use it on a cv for example, but these choices are very personal! Fwiw, at my school the 'chosen' name (ie the short version for ex) appears on the register, not the long/full name, so kids get called the 'right' name!

Thank you fancy - yes I'm in bed. Hope you are too and good luck with your A-level marking, sounds like a lot Hmm

Sorry to be moany and posting really dull stuff tonight!

Threnody · 20/06/2014 21:45

spotti Harriet Faith is lovely.
I've also been put off Jacob.
Sazzle - I love Freya.
Not really discussed names with DH yet, but think it may be difficult to agree. He's already vetoed Daniel and Alexander.

Sorry you are feeling ill Mademoiselle.

Glad to know others have same worries as me, I am being tempted to Poas again just to check.

Just had first chat with parents since I found out - really wanted to tell them.

MademoiselleG · 20/06/2014 21:51

I love Freya! Every single Freya (that's 2!) I taught was gorgeous and super bright.
I wish I was allowed an English name! They just all sound really naff in French though and I think we might end up moving back to France in a few years. International would be best, but the boy name I like is everything but!...
