The thing is if you are buying lion marked eggs all the chickens have been immunised against salmonella anyway so they are safe.

According the the NHS toxoplasmosis page only undercooked pork, lamb and venison are a risk. I've had cats all my life and eaten rare steak for years so I'm pretty likely to have picked up toxoplasmosis already.

None of the foods have ever made me ill before so I don't know why they would now. I was ill after some bad Gorgonzola cheese once though so I am following the soft/blue cheese bit.

Also avoiding the vitamin A and alcohol.

Viperama · 19/06/2014 21:32

Great news Bella!

Dinner was warm quinoa salad with some raw some cooked veg (chives and courgette from my wee box garden) and sausages. Mmmmmmmmmmm

Brilliant Rooney just scored, come on England, you deserve a spot on the next round!

fancyacupoftea · 19/06/2014 21:32

Oooohhh didn't know about the beef thing Poly! Even better to know!

Mademoiselle try not to worry (although it's hard not to). Have you had any cramps other than upset stomach?

toots123 · 19/06/2014 21:35

Thanks fancy I've been listening to my mum who hasn't had a child since me... im nearly 26 so I think I should ignore her :)

Cheesecake one was because of soft cheese being used. I'll be eating it though. I did read somewhere that the only majorno no was liver.

We have a cat so chances are ive had toxoplasmosis!

MademoiselleG · 19/06/2014 21:37

Nope. No cramps. I know it's probably nothing but it totally took me by surprise mid-retch!

Dinner feels like I might take another look at it really soon...eew. Early night with my kindle I think!

(So pleased Rooney just scored and I don't even really watch football!)

MademoiselleG · 19/06/2014 21:39

Oh and apparently, I'm STILL not immune to toxoplasmosis, despite having had outdoor cats for 15 years. Ah well, at least it means no litter cleaning for another 7 months! (It's in their poo, not their food, teheeWink)

fancyacupoftea · 19/06/2014 21:44

Well maybe with the retching and the upset stomach you might actually have a bit of a bug? Monday can't come quick enough!

My rules are that if I haven't heard it's risky then I can eat it. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

I've broken the rules loads though. But I'm sure the baby loved the proscuitto (sp?) as much as I did.

fancyacupoftea · 19/06/2014 21:46

Sorry, by food I meant poo but has come from the food. Or is it just the poo? Food poo. Poo food. Pood. Foo.

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 21:46

Hope you're ok Mlle . I'm sticking to the no litter tray thing, don't tell DH! How would you know if you'd def had toxoplasmosis?

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 21:47

Lol Fancy GrinGrinGrin

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 21:58

Well my language has descended into the gutter watching that. Fing pile of * AngrySadAngrySad I've defo got the preggo rage going tonight!

fancyacupoftea · 19/06/2014 21:59

Pile of... foo? Pood?

MademoiselleG · 19/06/2014 22:00

Haha fancy! Pood foo!! [turd emoticon]

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 22:03

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 22:05

Please don't take my word on food safety as gospel. I may be bending the rules/reading the guidance to suit my own agenda!

freneticfox · 19/06/2014 22:08

Checking in though having a rough evening... had a lovely dinner and am now feeling extremely queasy. Definitely a case of "After 8 sickness". Put THAT on a box of chocolates.

I'm chuckling over the football - I got Uruguay in the work sweepstakes :D

MademoiselleG · 19/06/2014 22:18

I go by the Poly-Gospel and that is all Grin

Took a bump picture and it looks disappointingly small. Must be the weird angle from doing it myself. Poly still want to see yours!

Commiserations frenetic - feeling like shit here too Thanks

freneticfox · 19/06/2014 22:19

Least I'm not suffering alone... though obviously I'd rather be in the glorious 'I'm a GODDESS' part of pregnancy.

That's not a myth, is it?

fancyacupoftea · 19/06/2014 22:20

AIBU?

Think I mentioned that the local NCT courses held afternoon sessions which I would never be able to get time off for. I emailed and asked if there were alternatives to afternoon sessions etc.

This is very normal for our classes to have afternoon sessions especially the breast feeding sessions. It isn't something that has ever been raised as an issue, as most people are allowed to take time off work for antenatal appointments and classes

I'm the only person who has ever found the fact that these sessions are during weekdays odd?!

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 22:33

I'll get DH to have another go at the bump pic in the morning hopefully with less of a close up focus on my fat bits

Fancy that is ridiculous. Near here they start at 7pm.

I think I'm going to have to make some kind of FB announcement. I'm starting to hear from people saying "I'm not sure if I'm meant to know but...." And they all seem a bit put out. It's not that I don't want people to know but I didn't really want to make a huge thing out of it and I'm not calling everyone I know to tell them. I just thought we'd be able to tell a few people and let it kind of filter outwards. What to do??? Confused

fancyacupoftea · 19/06/2014 22:46

Either do FB or mass text Poly?

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 22:51

It just feels so "ooooh look at me! Aren't I lucky and special!". Might just wait until my uncle is back off his holiday and tell him first then do a little Facebook thing without too much fuss. I think I'm just against it because when we were ttc I found it hard to swallow when others did it.

fancyacupoftea · 19/06/2014 22:54

Completely know what you mean Poly. Annoyingly though, the fb announcement does just solve a lot of problems. Think I'm going to do mine at 20 and just tell others by text beforehand.

PolytheneGirl · 19/06/2014 23:01

I'd wait till the birth if I could lol. I'm sure everyone knows already but they all just want to be told by us. I've only actually told family and 3 friends. I think it's another week till my uncle is back so I'll prob wait till 16 wks.

Zermatt · 20/06/2014 06:27

I always miss the teatime thread bit, then read it the next day and get food envy!

Poly your friend is taking the michael buble! I would be using my pregnancy as an excuse to get out of the arrangement asap. Tell her that you agreed to it to help her out of a bind and she seems a lot better now, and that as you are now carrying baby number 2 you're just too tired to look after hers as well as your own. You must be a really good friend to have done it as long as you have, so she can't say anything, apart from thankyou and if she does, she is not worth the worry.

Congrats and welcome to the thread as well Threnody

I'm so glad it's Friday and that the morning sickness phase seems to be going, I actually feel like I want to celebrate with a large bottle of red, some stilton.
