Miskate · 27/06/2014 15:59

Good work kantha, this is brilliant.

Elliekins · 27/06/2014 16:02

I'm so happy, finally had the much anticipated scan this morning and SHE is a GIRL! I am over the moon, so so delighted, I can't believe it.
I have had girlie things in storage for years in anticipation of having a daughter!
Smile
Worried that DP is a little disappointed as he really thought it was a boy and has been referring to bump using his favourite boy's name for weeks and irritating me hugely!

I thought she was a girl from my earliest scan at 7w4d when they said that implantation was on the left-hand-side, which is a girl according to Rumzi's theory but he told me it was bollocks and he was so sure it was a boy he almost convinced me.

I was visualising a girl from the outset and had even bought a little pink wooden rattle!

Hurrah! I don't have to take the dress I bought last week back! Smile

booksshoescats · 27/06/2014 16:30

Aww, Ellie, that's lovely for you - it's FAB having a girl. And I'm sure your DH will get over his disappointment very quickly. It's funny, though, isn't it, how most people really do picture themselves with girl or boy the first time, and then whatever you have in the end, as soon as they're born it's impossible to imagine it being any other way.

Kantha - that looks brilliant!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 27/06/2014 16:56

How lovely ellie

Just over a wk til my scan

Clothes I would buy couple tiny baby n new born my little boy was 7lb 10oz n he wore tiny baby for couple weeks then new born for bout a mth also new born is different sizes in different places.

We have got couple tiny baby bits n new born bits so far waiting to find out sex before getting more.

Don't assume primark is cheaper a pk of 7 plain white vests was cheaper in marks Spencer than primark when I got some the other wk.

Sainsbury will be due a 25% off clothes event soon I predict around 2nd wk of July as schools break up usually.

Alita7 · 27/06/2014 17:00

Congrats Ellie that's great news!

I'm feeling better than I was but our sex life is minimal... He's got a naturally lower libido than me anyway and pregnancy has significantly dropped mine. I think we've only had sex about 5 times since we conceived... One of those times was a few nights ago and I was surprised at how not wet enough I was... the friction was hurting a bit. I think it's just not something we're feeling the need to do atm , and I keep going to bed a lot earlier than him as im tired!

Yay! Good scan report here! All appears fit and well - still an "it" as we looked away at the right time!

Really feel much more like buying baby stuff now - so the clothes thread is much more up my street than before! Think I'll also go for a couple of bits in newborn size and then onto the 0-3 size. (Can't actually believe I'm typing this! Have suddenly got really excited about it all - bring on November Grin

Strawberryfield12 · 27/06/2014 17:51

Annarose It will make no sense, but I was horny in the infamous first trimester, but I feel I have my energy back now in the second trimester since my sleep pattern has gone back to normal after the T1 oddities, but the horny bit somehow has gone out of the window with the returning energy levels.
We have less sex than before mainly because DH has a bit of a mental block - he is scared he would screw something up - despite knowing that it is perfectly ok to have sex. So he is not the great initiator at the moment and it is all down to me only. I much prefer cuddle up and get DH to give me back massage at the moment. Smile

Strawberryfield12 · 27/06/2014 18:02

Congratulations haventgotaclue and Elliekins!

I have got couple of things already despite of having scan in 10 days. All blame to the sales in the shop! After the scan will follow big items shopping - prams, beds etc.
I am thinking to get the most (apart from some fancy bits I liked and already have bought) of clothing from Mothercare "My first" range as they have very good reviews, are plain white and very good price (about the same as in Primark).

Elliekins · 27/06/2014 20:56

My DP has also lost enthusiasm for sex, think it's all a bit too weird for him now he knows it's in there.
He's always had a lower sex drive than me but definitely even less now.
We've probably only had it 3 times since 12 week scan and after today and seeing her so clearly - she even looks chubby - I doubt he'll be up for it again.
Next shag likely to be in 2015!
There's nothing like a reluctant sex partner to make you feel unattractive but I'll be far too busy shopping for cute baby girl things to even care now!

Mumonabroom · 27/06/2014 21:33

Hi all! Sorry for absence, has been a mad few weeks with work and the two monkeys. Had 20 week scan and it turns out having a GIRL! Balances things out a bit as our other two are boys. Scary unknown territory! Haha. Glad to see lots of happy news on here, will have a proper catch up now.

Twizzzy · 27/06/2014 22:08

Congratulations elliekins and haventgotaclue. Glad your scans went well. Looking forward to some shopping this weekend Grin

PopcornFrenzy · 27/06/2014 22:11

I think we should have a thread testing the implantation theory whether left means girl and right means boy.

Mine has implanted on the left and will find out on Wednesday whether girl or boy.

Alita7 · 27/06/2014 22:17

Congrats guys!

Mine is on the left and he's a boy!

I think dp is also a bit concerned about hurting him :/ I'm more concerned hel hurt me! :p

Congratulations to everyone on their scans!

The rest of my second scan was fine, baby was being lazy asleep so I was sent out for a walk (again). They confirmed their view that it is a boy. He has a really large head (off the scale, but still ok according to the sonographer) and a long thin body. Bit like an alien! Shock Bit worried about the size of the head, how am I going to squeeze it out?!

We need to start buying stuff, but it still seems too early. We need to buy a car first, to check any pushchair/travel system/car seat will fit. Hmmm...could be an expensive few months!

Spannertime · 27/06/2014 23:19

Hey everyone. Wow you're a chatty bunch. Yes I have to go back into two weeks for another scan on the heart. I'm looking forward to seeing him again. Hopefully all ok with the heart. Midwife has been listening to it a lot and it sounds good and strong.

weeonion · 28/06/2014 00:00

congrats everyone on scans today!!

I wasnt given such detailed measurements after scan - all i was told was that it all matched! No way of knowing if this a long skinny one or a we chunker!

DD came out on hte 95th percentile for height and has stayed there ever since. will be interesting to see about this one...

had mw appt this afternoon. fundal height is measuring at 28 weeks when i am just over 23 weeks apparently differences are normal but a 5 week difference is beyond it so..... another scan in 2 weeks!
not getting stressed about it though as mw was v v v v reassuring. DD heard heart beat and was so excited by it. x

weeonion · 28/06/2014 00:05

hey spanner - it'll be good to get another chance to see him!

Petal26 · 28/06/2014 07:49

Congratulations on the good scans ladies :-)

Spanner I had to go back with DD as they couldn't see the heart properly during the first scan. All was fine and I had a different sonographer confirm she was a girl so worth the trip! :-)

Annarose2014 · 28/06/2014 15:04

weeonion when is your due date? Cos I'm Nov 1st and 22 weeks on Monday. Unless I've lost a week somewhere.....Blush

Does it matter if your car seat and pram don't hook up? We've been given a car seat but it doesn't clip into any of the prams we like. Sad

We're definately not going to fork out for a new car seat just because of that though!

We live slap bang in the middle of a city and don't depend on the car, tbh. It'd only be used really for visiting grandparents, and we won't use the pram once we get to their houses anyway, y'know? So am wondering if it we should just get the pram we like.

DH keeps saying "But what about driving to the supermarket" but its not as if you wheel a pram around a supermarket anyway! Surely I can just plonk the car seat in the bottom of the trolley?

But we feel completely out of our depth not doing this before! We know NOTHING! For all we know we'd be kicking ourselves not to have them match!

weeonion · 28/06/2014 15:08

Annarose - 25th Oct by nhs, 20th Oct by harmony test.

weeonion · 28/06/2014 15:09

Annarose - 25th Oct by nhs and 20th Oct by harmony test.
I still think it will be November!!

Kantha · 28/06/2014 16:09

Anna - on the supermarket question they have special trolleys there that have a bay for putting car seats onto and then a strap to secure it in place.

You will probably find that there are occasions when you wish your car seat and pram are compatible e.g. you drive to a shopping centre, baby goes to sleep in car, and then you don't want to disturb the baby on the transfer into pram. However, its definitely not essential especially if you don't use the car very much.

Also they are only in infant size car seats for the first nine months or so. Expecting DS1 I remember thinking that 3/6/9 months seemed like an unimaginably long time. In reality it whizzes by. Post 9 months they are in a car seat that has to stay in the car anyway.
