Annarose2014 · 28/06/2014 16:32

Oh wow, I didn't know they were only that length in it! Definately not buying a new one!

I suspect I'll just buy the pram we like, after all they'll last a lot longer so better get the one thats right for us, rather than a pram we don't like to match a car seat that'll only last 9 months!

MrsDowneyJunior · 28/06/2014 16:54

I never bothered putting the car seat on the pram. They can only be in a cat seat so long and by the time I would have driven anywhere and back we would have been over the time so transferring her to the pram was a better portion for us.

Strawberryfield12 · 28/06/2014 17:34

We went to mamas&papas last weekend to talk all sorts about prams, car seats etc. and I got impression that you need adaptors to put the car seat on the pram, so maybe you can buy adaptor which would work with the car seat you have and the pram you like? Most of them are around £30 if bought new.

Petal26 · 28/06/2014 17:51

I put the car seat into the pram chassis a lot when I was out and about but I need to drive to get anywhere so it was easier for a quick trip around the shops to just keep DD in her car seat. I think the limit is 2 hours ( ish ) and so I always had that on my mind.

I have bought quite a few baby clothes today! Sale items in Sainsburys (fleece/cord 0-3 month coat for £6) and used my advantage card points in Boots and got a few half priced bibs and sleep suits for free :-)
Love the baby clothes in Boots but always wait for the sale!

Annarose2014 · 28/06/2014 18:06

Mothercare told us this morning that only 90 mins is the recommended limit now! Shock

Strawberry you can get adaptors for some car seats but not all. I believe the Maxi Cosi carseat can go into most prams (like the one we're looking at, which is the Phil & Teds Navigator), but unfortunately we were given a different one which can only be used with its own brand.

We'd have def bought a Maxi Cosi as its versatile, but hey ho - not complaining about a free car seat either!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 28/06/2014 19:54

First car seats can be used up to a certain weight or when head is above the top of seat n most babies can fit in a first stage til 13-15mths it's just the next stage they can go in from 9mths people get a little excited about them going forward facing n change at 9mths.

Rear facing is safer n our first stayed in his maxi cosi til 16mths maybe 18mth he was well within weight limit.

utopian99 · 28/06/2014 20:24

anna I tended to plonk ds in the car seat in the trolley. I wouldn't worry too much. Ds hated his group 0 car seat with a passion and cried every time ha was in it and not asleep so we moved him out of it as soon as he was big enough (9 months - he's 75th centile still) and went forward facing and now he's fine!

Dreading that with this one but hopefully it will be different - no two the same and all that..

Sorry for the long absence - work has been mental and it's all my own fault, as it's my company! Hope everyone's well and sad to have missed exciting scan news. Will try to check in again soon, once the mania subsides.
Feeling kicks lots now (yay) and unutterably horny (thinking of discussion up thread) but rate of work has rather put paid to many opportunities as working till late. Hoping dh may jump me later as off work this evening. Think I might take the company in a slightly more family-life friendly direction come November.

utopian99 · 28/06/2014 20:25

Oh and a close friend who has a dd three months younger than ds has her second due in jan! Whoop! Already planning group hols..

weeonion · 28/06/2014 22:29

east mids - our dd stayed in her rear facing for as long as possible as well. I was happy with that as it is safer and she was still happy as larry in it.

hey utopian - good to see you back!

Petal26 · 28/06/2014 23:24

Had DH moaning at me all night/week about giving up our Glastonbury tickets this year. I was so excited when we got through to buy them on the computer in October. I couldn't imagine having the stamina this year, watching it all on the tv is torture!
But a bit of food shopping today totally wiped me out let alone camping in the rain!

utopian99 · 29/06/2014 12:00

Hi weeoinion, hope you're well!
petal I know what you mean about tiredness - have just had bloods redone by doctors due to moving hospital and area, and they came back slightly anemic, so maybe you could get checked? I wasn't at booking in, so guess it can change..

we haven't bought anything new for this one, I feel a bit sad on it's behalf but we kept everything from ds and aren't finding out the sex so there's really no point...

amy83firsttimer · 29/06/2014 12:51

I'm sat enjoying the calm before the storm. Got in laws coming for lunch and DH has had to.pop to town before they come so I've done all the lunch prep on my own and now just want a nap. Hopefully the boobs will survive grope-free this time!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 29/06/2014 15:45

MrsDowneyJunior · 29/06/2014 16:22

I've put on 25kg. Grin

weeonion · 29/06/2014 16:43

Hey mrsd - did the food poisoning go ok?

amy83firsttimer · 29/06/2014 17:22

Wow to 25kg! Your food bill must be massive. You having fun with it?

MrsDowneyJunior · 29/06/2014 18:07

What can I say? Baby likes cake! Grin

weeonion · 29/06/2014 18:43

mrs d - how did your night out with your pal go last weekend? you were so stressed about it beforehand.

ToniWol · 29/06/2014 19:34

2 days to go for the scan.

Am currently sitting at a friends house in Leeds waiting for DH to pick me up after his concert. Have had a wonderful weekend at Woolfest and managed to not buy too much yarn (although did buy a gorgeous shawl to use as a bf cover up).

Annarose2014 · 29/06/2014 19:54

I've put on a stone and a half. I was alarmed at first till I googled and 25-35 pounds is ok. So I can put on a bit more! Grin

Am finding pregnancy jeans to be a bloody nightmare though. Whether underbump or overbump, they all fall down! Am quite pissed off as I live in jeans and previously had one of those flat-hipped figures that is quite easy to buy jeans for. But now I seem to be all wrong! Am more upset by this than I anticipated - I can't wear leggings every flipping day!!!! Sometimes you just want to wear some f*ing jeans! Angry

Miskate · 29/06/2014 19:58

Anna - have you tried your usual jeans but not done up, and use a hair tie or belly band to hold them up?

Strawberryfield12 · 29/06/2014 20:09

Been happily eating samphire for the last few months, today made a crab and samphire tart (namm!). Then thought I would google out what benefits samphire has as I quite like it. Every link I click says for pregnant and breastfeeding women to stay away from it as the side effects are not known. What do I do now?! It was not on NHS blacklist so I was convinced I was living according to the book, but it turns out... Argh!

amy83firsttimer · 29/06/2014 21:58

Ignore. If the NHS haven't bothered to put it on the list it can't be lethal. Also, 'unknown' is very different from 'known to be harmful'.

moggle · 29/06/2014 22:00

I just finished eatingn samphire with dinner!! I love it, it's so delicious! It seems like there is a samphire supplement as well for which the advice seems to be, effects unknown so don't take if pregnant. I don't see how the vegetable itself eaten fresh could possibly be contraindicated. I am not going to worry.
